The student should get to know the gymnastic terminology, correct technique of performance, the methods of teaching and spotting procedures applied in primary school gymnastics. The aim of the course is to familiarize students with: 1. basics of the theory of gymnastics. 2. professional vocabulary, performing techniques, methodology and spotting schemes of exercises in general, acrobatic and artistic gymnastics. 3. various organization forms of gymnastics classes (lessons) in primary school and various agents used to increase the level of motor skills. 4. general rules and judging regulations in gymnastic sports and the principles of the organization of school gymnastics competition. 5. the rules of a safe organizing and teaching the different forms gymnastic exercises during Physical Education classes. PREREQUISITES The average level of physical fitness and basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology of human body. By the completion of this module, the student: KNOWLEDGE: K_W01 - knows the professional vocabulary and terminology of warm-up and general LEARNING gymnastic exercises (after 1 semester), basic gymnastic vaults and gymnastic apparatus OUTCOMES exercises (after 2 semester), basic acrobatic gymnastics stunts (after 3 semester). K_W06, K_W17 – knows methodology and performing techniques of warm-up and general gymnastic exercises (after 1 semester), basic gymnastic vaults and gymnastic apparatus exercises (after 2 semester), basic acrobatic gymnastics stunts (after 3 semester). K_W07, K_W08 - knows the methods and forms of organization of gymnastic classes (lessons) and knows how to properly build a course gymnastic lessons and safety rules of teaching gymnastics (after 4 semester). K_W05, K_W09 - knows which gym measures should be used to increase the level of motor skills, knows the principles of health promotion and healthy lifestyles. K_W14 - knows the general rules and judging regulations in gymnastic sports and the principles of the organization of school gymnastics competition (after 3 semester). SKILLS: K_U01, K_U02 - has the ability to teach: warm-up and general gymnastic exercises, basic gymnastic vaults, fundamental gymnastic apparatus exercises, basic acrobatic gymnastics stunts (after 4 semester). K_U07 - can use the supporting techniques in various gymnastic exercises, prepare a safe place to realize school classes in gymnastics, safely and properly use gymnastic equipment and apparatus. K_U08 - can properly demonstrate gymnastic exercises performed in each semester. K_U09 – is able to identify and correct the errors in performing gymnastic exercises. K_U13 - knows how to choose and use in practice a variety of methods, forms and means for the implementation of lessons in gymnastics (after 4 semester). K_U10, K_U14 - can organize school competitions in gymnastics and prepare students to participate in competitive gymnastic sports (after 3 semester). 1 K_U15 – is able to perform the gymnastic warm-up and gymnastic exercises designed to rising the various motor skills. SOCIAL COMPETENCES K_K01, K_K04 - recognizes the need to care for his own physical condition and health, increases the level of his physical fitness. K_K03, K_K05 - has a sense of responsibility for the students, can help weaker students and respects the safety principles of self and the others during gymnastic classes. K_K07, K_K08, K_K09 - can share their knowledge and skills with others, knows how to work in a group, can activate students for physical activity. SUM 15 TOPIC OF CLASS 2-nd Semester HOURS Methodology of teaching basic gymnastic vaults: the straddle vault over the buck; the 4 squat vault over the box; the front vault over the box; the rear vault over the box; Individual practicing of horizontal bar, parallel bars, pommel horse (for men) and 4 balance beam (for women) exercises. Improving gymnastic vaults and routines at the gymnastic apparatus. 7 SUM 15 TOPIC OF CLASS 3-rd Semester HOURS Improving the fundamental acrobatic skills, special the various forms of headstands, 2 handstands, rolls, limbers, walkovers and cartwheels. Methodology of teaching the basic acrobatic pyramids in pairs. 4 Methodology of teaching the basic acrobatic pyramids in groups. 4 Improving the performance of women’s pair and trios basic routines, correctly (women only). 5 Improving the performance of men’s pair and fours basic routines, correctly (men only). SEMESTER 3 – credit based on the partial assessments: - performance of free exercises compulsory program - performance of pairs and/or group compulsory routines in acrobatics - participation in the organization or judging gymnastics competition (credit unrated) SEMESTER 4 – credit based on the partial assessments: - organizing and teaching set of warm-up exercises or set of exercises focused on the development of motor skills - organizing and teaching the main part of gym lesson.
