AUTONOMY IN THE OIL & GAS INDUSTRY Steps for implementing autonomy 7 - 8 March 2012 Sola Strand Hotel, Stavanger “The Autonomy in the Oil and Gas Industry Conference 2012 will focus on the steps required for a successful implementation of autonomy in the oil and gas industry. For 2012 and forward, it was decided to rename the conference from “Autonomy in IO” to “Autonomy in the Oil and Gas Industry.” The steps may include development of regulatory measures, appropriate man--machine interfaces, testing procedures, new technologies (hardware and software), better “system” understanding, procedures for gradual implementation, and technology paths. Technical and engineering challenges will also be addressed. Lesson learned from other industries will complete the picture. The conference will feature talks with specific focal points combined with a panel discussion focusing on reviewing selected topics from multiple angles. The panel discussion will target key issues for successfully implementing autonomy in the oil and gas industry.” 7 March 09.00 Registration and coffee 10.00 Opening and welcome Lars Annfinn Ekornsæter, NFA Section 1: Introduction Chair: Aina Berg 10.10 Strategy for the northern areas Olje og energidepartementet 10.40 Experiences from space industry Dean Wiberg, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Section 2: Drilling and well Chair: Jan Munkejord 14.10 The role of automation in improved decision support for optimal well placement Erich Suter, IRIS and Hans Martin Helset, SINTEF 14.40 AI and autonomy in oil & gas Roar Fjellheim, Computas 11.10 Increased automation offshore Is that our goal?
