Make your vows a little more personal and more meaningful because they're coming from your heart. When I was looking for wedding vows for our renewal ceremony, I looked all over the Web. And while I found some very interesting words of love and devotion, what I found I needed to do was take what I liked best from a few different samples and incorporate them into the vows my husband and I would repeat to each other. You can do the same thing too! Just look around for a wide variety of different vow samples then add your own personal touch to them; change a word or phrase, move a phrase or even remove a phrase. Pull phrases from one set of samples and add them to others to make a complete set of vows that say what you want to say. So whether you're renewing your vows or you just want something a little less traditional, here are some sample wedding vows that will get you started. Feel free to use them as they are or reword them to fit your occasion. SAMPLE 1 1:: Vows for a Vow Renewal Ceremony, including ring ceremony Officiant: [Bride and Groom], please repeat after me… I [bride/groom name] again take you, [bride/groom name], to continue to be my partner in life, I give to you my unending love and devotion. I promise to be true to you and to cherish you, And to share my thoughts, hopes and dreams with you. I thank you for the time we’ve had together, And it is with hope, faith and joy that I look forward to continuing our journey. And with this renewal of vows, our love and commitment will grow ever stronger, As long as we both shall live. If you exchange rings: Officiant: [Bride and Groom], these rings are outward symbols of your ongoing commitment to each other. Repeat after me: From this day on, I recommit myself to you and give you this ring as a symbol of my continued love and devotion. Officiant: May the love you two have celebrated here in the presence of your family and friends, continue to grow in understanding, compassion, love and devotion. It is with great joy that I now announce to all present that you truly are husband and wife, now and forever. You may now seal your promises with a kiss. SAMPLE 2 2:: Vows for a Vow Renewal Ceremony [Bride/Groom], 25 years ago, I pledged my love and commitment to you, but it seems like only yesterday. I promised to love you, honor you, comfort and keep you. I vowed to stay with you in sickness and in health, for better or worse, for the rest of our lives. I have kept my vows, and you have been by my side as we created a family, a home, and a life together. Today, at the beginning of our 26th year as husband and wife, in the presence of God, and our family and friends, I renew my vows to you, pledging again my eternal love for you, and eagerly awaiting what our continued life together may bring us. SAMPLE 3 3:: Non-traditional Wedding Vows [Bride/Groom], today I take you, my best friend, to be my [husband/wife] and partner in life. Together we will create a home, and become a part of one another. I vow to help create a life that we can cherish, inspiring your love for me and mine for you. I vow to be honest, caring and truthful, to love you as you are and not as I want you to be, and to grow old by your side as your love and best friend. SAMPLE 4: Wedding Vows [Bride/Groom], I take you to be my lawfully wedding [HUSBAND/WIFE]. Before our family and friends gathered here today, I vow to love you and care for you as long as we both shall live. I take you, with all your faults and your strengths, as I offer myself to you with my faults and my strengths. I will help you when you need help, and will turn to you when I need help. As I have chosen you as the person with whom I will spend my the rest of my life. SAMPLE 5 5:: Traditional Vows [Bride/Groom], I take you to be my wedded [HUSBAND/ WIFE], to have and to hold, from this day forward. I vow to stay with you for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health. (Name), I again take you to be my (husband/wife) and from this day forward I continue to cherish you. I will look with joy down the path of our tomorrows, knowing we will continue to walk it together side by side, hand in hand, and heart to heart. What to Say During Your Ring Exchange Here are a few sayings for your ring exchange. Mix and match them with the vows on the previous pages to make your entire wedding vows perfect for you. And these sayings will work well with vow renewals too whether you’re exchanging new rings or exchanging a personal gift instead. SAMPLE 1 1:: [Bride and Groom], this ring in an outward symbol of my ongoing commitment to you. From this day on, I recommit myself to you and give you this ring as a symbol of my continued love and devotion. SAMPLE 4 4:: With this ring, I give you my promise of honesty, trust, and devotion. I promise to stand beside you through difficult times, wonderful times, the strong and the weak times. May we always overcome all obstacles together. With this ring, I interlock my heart with yours for eternity.
