We are confident that you will be delighted with your state of the art inline food service cabinet, and that it will become a valued appliance in your store. Guidance and Help Any new appliance can seem very complex and confusing at first glance. To ensure you receive the utmost benefit from your new inline cabinet, there are two things you can do. Before operating the cabinet, please read the instruction book carefully and follow its recommendations. The time taken will be well spent. These instructions both general and technical tell you how to operate and look after your inline food service cabinet so that you can receive the full benefits that this cabinet has to offer. These instructions cannot, however, cover all eventualities. If you are unsure of any aspect of the installation, instructions or performance of your cabinet, contact your dealer promptly or contact us via email to support@fpgworld.com. Warranty VISAIR CABINETS - INTRODUCTION Warranty Period Future Products Group Limited warrants, to the original purchaser of an FPG manufactured food service cabinet, that for ONE YEAR (12 months) from the date of purchase, any defect in workmanship or material resulting in the product malfunctioning, while under correct use, will be rectified. VISAIR CABINETS - INTRODUCTION Liability Exceptions Specific Exclusions Liability under this warranty does not include: Any loss, or damage or expenses directly or indirectly arising from use or inability to use the product or from any other cause. Any part of the cabinet which has been subject to misuse, neglect, alteration, incorrect installation, accident, or damage caused by transportation, use of abrasive or caustic chemicals, flooding, fire or acts of God. Any damage or malfunction resulting from the use of non-FPG supplied spare parts. The following are specifically excluded from warranty: Breakage of glass or plastic components or the replacement of fluorescent tubes or gaskets. Failure to re-assemble the cabinet correctly after cleaning. Fair wear and tear. Assessment The liability under this warranty is dependent on an assessment by FPG, to determine the defect in workmanship or materials. Time Limit FPG does not guarantee that any service to be performed under this warranty will be carried out within any particular time limit. Caution No warranty claim will be accepted unless authorised by FPG prior to commencement of service. IL-H-VA12, VA14 and VA24 -7- © Future Products Group OPERATION Cabinet Layout VISAIR CABINETS - OPERATION Self Service Cabinet These open front cabinets are designed for the display of hot pre-cooked food. The cabinet is fitted with two shelves, and items may also be placed on the base tray. Radiant heating elements are incorporated into the ceiling and shelves, to achieve uniform product temperatures. The cabinets are designed to be free standing. The cabinets can have flush sides and opaque side panels, enabling them to be stacked side by side. Lighting Cabinets are fitted with LED lighting. Lighting strips are fitted in the ceiling of the cabinet and below the shelves to illuminate displayed product. Controls VISAIR CABINETS - OPERATION Control Panel The controls are located on the front of the cabinet, and comprise: The main power switch A temperature controller The main switch controls both heating and lighting. The temperature controller indicates the operating temperature of the cabinet. Part No. 24895 Rev. C February 2014 -8- Visair Heated Cabinets Preparation VISAIR CABINETS - OPERATION Shelf Location and Ticketing The shelf positions can be adjusted by only a small amount, because of the cables required for heating and lighting. The heat output of the radiant elements is factory set for even temperature distribution with the shelves in these positions. The front edges of the shelves and base are fitted with extrusions, to carry ticketing/labels. Power Supply Ensure that power is connected to the cabinet. Turn on the main power switch, as shown above. Pre-heat the Cabinet Pre-heat the cabinet for 15 minutes, before loading with product. Load Cabinet Load cabinet with pre-heated product. The cabinet is designed to maintain the temperature of pre-heated product. It is not an oven, and consequently, if cold product is introduced, there could be a considerable delay before the operating temperature is again reached. IL-H-VA12, VA14 and VA24 -9- © Future Products Group Operating Routines VISAIR CABINETS - OPERATION Operating Environment The cabinet is designed to maintain products at a temperature above 65C. The heating system is designed to maintain this temperature, provided the cabinet is not located in a draughty location. Do not place electric fans close to the open front of the cabinet. Temperature Monitoring Since the cabinet uses infra-red radiation (IR), to maintain the temperature of displayed product, (pre-cooked chickens), the air temperature will not be as high as the product temperature. IR is absorbed by the products, but does not heat the air through which it passes. Accurate product temperature measurements can only be made by using a “probe” type thermometer, as shown below. Periodic checks should be made, by inserting the probe into the body of a sample product. In the case of cooked chickens, insert the probe into the flesh, rather than the hollow center of an unseasoned sample. Do not use an IR temperature gun, since ambiguous readings will be caused by random direct radiation from the elements and shelves etc. Cleaning It is recommended that cabinets be cleaned at the end of the working day, since they need to be shut down for this. Allow the cabinet to cool for approximately 30 minutes before starting to clean it. Once cleaning is finished, switch the cabinet on again and allow it to reach the working temperature before introducing the pre-heated products. Part No. 24895 Rev. C February 2014 - 10 - Visair Heated Cabinets TROUBLE SHOOTING Element Failure Alarm Display In the event of one or more infrared elements failing, the Dixell controller will display the alarm “EA” along with an audible alarm sound. Turn the cabinet off and remove all food from the cabinet. Call for service. IL-H-VA12, VA14 and VA24 - 11 - © Future Products Group CLEANING Cautions VISAIR CABINETS - CLEANING Power ALWAYS TURN THE POWER SUPPLY OFF BEFORE CLEANING. Water THIS UNIT IS NOT WATERPROOF. DO NOT USE A WATER JET SPRAY TO CLEAN THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR OF THIS CABINET. Exterior VISAIR CABINETS - CLEANING Metal Surfaces Stainless steel or aluminium surfaces should be cleaned with hot soapy water. DO NOT clean surfaces with abrasive pads or cleaners, as stainless steel and aluminium surfaces will be damaged. Glass All glass should be cleaned using a good quality glass cleaner and a clean cloth. DO NOT use abrasive pads or cleaners, because they will damage the surface of the glass. Interior VISAIR CABINETS - CLEANING Shelf and Base Trays The base tray and shelves can be cleaned in place for regular cleaning, but are easily removed from the cabinet for more thorough cleaning. VISAIR CABINETS - CLEANING Shelves The shelves can normally be cleaned in place, but can be removed from the cabinet for more thorough cleaning. Unplug the heating and lighting connectors, from each side of the shelf, lift the shelf upwards and pull it forward to disengage from the pillars. The shelves are heavy, so two people may be needed. Cleaning Materials Stainless steel trays and shelves should be cleaned with hot soapy water. Use a damp cloth or sponge to avoid excess water entering the light fittings etc. Do not use abrasive pads or cleaners as these may damage surfaces. Warning: Dishwasher detergents will damage any anodised aluminium parts. Side Glass The inside of the side glass can be cleaned with the shelves in place, but more thorough cleaning should be done when the shelves are removed. Cleaning Routines VISAIR CABINETS - CLEANING Schedules To maintain optimum performance, cleaning must be regular and thorough. It is recommended that a schedule of cleaning operations be established. Inspection As part of the cleaning routine, the controls, mechanical parts and electrical wiring should be inspected for damage, deterioration or need of adjustment. Correction If any small faults are found, have them attended to promptly by a competent serviceman. Don’t wait until they cause a complete breakdown. IL-H-VA12, VA14 and VA24 - 13 - © Future Products Group INSTALLATION Regulations VISAIR CABINETS - INSTALLATION Compliance with Local Requirements It is very important that your inline food cabinet is installed correctly and that the operation is correct before use. Installation must comply with local electrical, health & safety and hygiene requirements. Setting Up VISAIR CABINETS - INSTALLATION Unpacking Unpack and check unit for damage and report any damage to the carrier and supplier. Report any deficiencies to your supplier. Cabinet Preparation Remove all tapes, ties and packers, used to prevent movement during transit. Positioning the Cabinet With the lower front and back panels removed, a fork-lift or pallet lifter can be used to position the cabinet in its allocated working position. (A pallet lifter can be used without removing the back panel). Check that all plastic film protection has been removed from surfaces, otherwise it will melt when the cabinet heats up. The front panel is secured by two magnets, and can be removed by pulling on the bottom edge. The rear panel is secured with screws. There are casters on either side at the front and back, and adjustable feet on either side at the front, so the cabinet can be easily manoeuvred before lowering the feet. Using a spirit level, adjust each front foot to ensure the cabinet is level from front to back and side to side. If the floor is not level, place packing under one of the castors. Part No. 24895 Rev. C February 2014 - 14 - Visair Heated Cabinets Location VISAIR CABINETS - INSTALLATION Operating Environment The cabinet is designed to maintain products at a temperature above 65C. The heating system is designed to maintain this temperature, providing the cabinet is not located in a draughty location. Do not place electric fans close to the open front of the cabinet. Place A minimum space of 50mm should be left behind the cabinet, to allow air to circulate through the vents and fan. Power Supply VISAIR CABINETS - INSTALLATION Power Supply Connection The cabinet has terminals for connecting the incoming mains supply phase, neutral and earth conductors. The terminals are mounted at the back of the left control gear chassis. Before connecting to the power supply, check that the local supply is correct to that shown on the rating label, located behind the removable front panel. Ensure that the cables used are adequately rated for the load current, and that there is enough slack cable to enable the chassis to be withdrawn for servicing. Electrical Isolation An accessible means of isolation must be provided in the electrical supply to the cabinet. Earthing THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED/GROUNDED The cabinet should be earthed via the earth lead in the mains cable. In addition, an equipotential earth bonding terminal is provided, to allow the cabinet to be bonded to a building surge earth or adjacent equipment. IL-H-VA12, VA14 and VA24 - 15 - © Future Products Group SERVICING Control Gear VISAIR CABINETS - SERVICING Caution DO NOT service lights without isolating the cabinet at the main switch or unplugging it from the wall. Access to Control Gear Pull on the lower edge of the base panel to disengage the magnetic catches. The control gear chassis can now be accessed. Control Gear Chassis Each control gear chassis can be withdrawn, after removing two fixing screws. Control Gear Components The left chassis houses the mains switch and power relay, low voltage power supplies, a heating controller, an asymmetric timer and an under-current relay. An MCB protects all control and lighting circuits. A second chassis, without a heating controller, relay, MCB or switch, is fitted to the right side of the 2400 cabinet. Part No. 24895 Rev. C February 2014 - 16 - Visair Heated Cabinets Cooling Fans VISAIR CABINETS - SERVICING Fan Operation The fans cool the cabinet top, by circulating air drawn via the cavity behind the insulated back of the cabinet. If the top of the cabinet becomes very hot, the fan or its power supply may have failed. Fan Access The rear panel of the cabinet must be removed to access the fans. It is recommended to clean accumulated dust and fluff from the fans when servicing the cabinet. Power Supply Each fan operates from a 24V dc power supply, housed in the control gear chassis of the corresponding cabinet section. Element Failure VISAIR CABINETS - SERVICING Alarm Indication In the event of one or more infrared elements failing, the under current relay will close the digital input to the Dixell controller. After one minute the Dixell controller will display the alarm “EA” along with an audible alarm sound. The cabinet will continue to operate while alarming. The alarm is cancelled by turning the cabinet power off. Correction Locate and replace the faulty element or elements. Turn the cabinet power back on and check the operation of all elements. The front elements are turned on with the first cycle time (6min). The rear elements are turned on with the second cycle time (4min). Note: On the VA24 cabinet there is a separate under-current detection relay for the left and right side of the cabinet. During the fault condition, the relay which has detected the fault will have its yellow and red status indicator LEDs on. IL-H-VA12, VA14 and VA24 - 17 - © Future Products Group Lamp and Element Replacement VISAIR CABINETS - SERVICING Top Light or Element Replacement The complete top element assembly can be hinged downwards, after removing the fixing screws. Elements and lighting strips can then be replaced. Shelf Light or Element Replacement Remove the shelf from the cabinet for ease of access. First, unplug the heating and lighting connectors from each side of the rear of the shelf. Remove the polycarbonate cover to replace an LED strip. Remove the protective guard to replace a radiant element. It is secured with screws on the face and rear edge. Part No. 24895 Rev. C February 2014 - 18 - Visair Heated Cabinets Dixell Controller VISAIR CABINETS - SERVICING Temperature Regulator XR20CX Model XR20CX is a microprocessor based controller. In this application it is configured as a heating controller, and unwanted functions are disabled. XR20CX Key Functions KEY FUNCTION To display target set point; in programming mode it selects a parameter or confirm an operation (UP): To see the max. stored temperature; in programming mode it browses the parameter codes or increases the displayed value (DOWN): To see the min stored temperature; in programming mode it browses the parameter codes or decreases the displayed value To switch the instrument off, if onF = oFF. Not enabled XR20CX Display the Setpoint To show the set-point value, press and immediately release the SET key. XR20CX Change the Set-point To change the set-point value, press the SET key for more than 2 seconds; The value of the set-point will be displayed and the °C or °F LED starts blinking; To change the set value push the or arrows within 10s. To memorise the new set-point value push the SET key again or wait 10s. Press and immediately release the SET key or wait for 5 seconds to display the probe temperature again. C February 2014 Visair Series, Open-front 2400mm Heated Cabinet - 24 - Visair Heated Cabinets SPARE PARTS Cabinet Serial Number When ordering spare parts, it is important to quote the Serial Number printed on the label fixed to the control panel. This serial number will enable FPG to trace details of the build specification of your particular cabinet, and hence ensure that spare parts are fully compatible. To satisfy warranty conditions, and ensure optimum performance, use only FPG supplied spare parts.
