1. PURPOSE OF INSTRUCTION HANDBOOK
First check that serial number and year of manufacture are noted on the handbook cover as well
as on the certificate of conformity.
1.1 WHAT PURPOSE DOES THE HANDBOOK SERVE?
This instruction handbook contains all practical information to run, set and maintain your machine correctly
and in safety.
Read it carefully and respect all the instructions and advices relating to your safety.
1.2 WARNING SYMBOLS.
THIS

ENCOUNTER THIS SYMBOL, TAKE CARE OF POTENTIAL RISKS OF INJURY, READ CAREFULLY THE MESSAGE THAT
FOLLOWS AND INFORM OTHER USERS.
1.3 KEEP THIS HANDBOOK.
Keep this instruction handbook within arm’s reach for later consultation.
Hand it to any other user, including when you sell or lend your machine.
Do not remove the manufacturer’s plates or the EC marking that are set on the machine.
All the indications given in this handbook must be completed by those given by the tractor universal joint
instructions, not to forget the legislation applicable relating to motor-powered vehicles.
For any information concerning this handbook or its content, you may contact us using the details on the
first page.
2. GENERAL SAFETY RULES
2.1 GENERAL SAFETY RULES APPLICABLE TO ALL EQUIPMENT.
The other sections in the instruction handbook give additional indications which must also be respected
for your safety.
Remember that vigilance and prudence are the best ways to preserve your safety.
Regulations and rules to prevent accidents and relating to safety, to occupational medicine, protection of
the environment and the Road Traffic Regulations must be observed at all times.
Any work done with the machine which may affect the security of a person is strictly forbidden. The user
has to take care that no other unauthorized person works with the machine.
The user is obliged to control all elements of the machine which are involved in security, as protective
devices, etc. before starting up the machine and to get them repaired in case of failure.
Make certain that nobody, no animal or other obstacle is close to the machine before starting it and during
any manoeuvre. During operation, always keep necessary safety depending on the machine used.

Keep children away from the machine at all times.
Never carry passengers, animals or objects on the machine, neither while working nor during transport.
Respect the Road Traffic Regulations when driving on public roads. Before driving, make sure that
surroundings are unencumbered (children, obstacles etc. …) and that your visibility is good enough.
Especially when the machine is quite long, it is important to take care that nobody is situated within the
machine’s manoeuvre area.
Avoid important turns, sudden changes in direction and drive with adapted speed.
When you change direction, you have to pay attention to the machine’s hangover.
Never use a narrow-track tractor on rough or sloped ground.
Do not walk on the covers or any other place on the machine, with the exception of the areas provided for
that purpose (ladder, platform). It is strictly forbidden to penetrate into areas behind protective grids or to
press on them.
Before any intervention on the machine, make certain that it cannot be started up accidentally.
All remote controls (cords, cables, control rods, hoses, etc.) must be positioned in locations planned for so
that they cannot accidentally trigger a manoeuvre causing risk of accidents or damage.
Before any use, check tightening of screws, nuts and couplings. Re-tighten if necessary.
Before any use and after each setting or maintenance operation, make certain that all protection devices
are in place and in good condition, and that their locking systems are engaged. It is strictly forbidden to
take or to disable any security devices (we herewith inform and warn you about the risks of serious
injuries, so as contusions, loss of a body part, bone fracture which can even go up to danger of death). In
those cases where during repair or maintenance it should be necessary to dismantle certain security
devices, it is absolutely necessary to re-assemble these devices immediately after repair or maintenance
works.
Make certain that the parcel of land does not have irregularities or debris (wood, scrap metal, plastic,
fencing, etc.) that could be projected by the machine or damage it.
The chain curtains or rubber flaps help to avoid accidental projections: if they are damaged, they have to
replaced immediately
In order to ensure higher security for the driver, you always have to use a tractor with a cabin.
Even if the machine is used in accordance with the recommendations, stones or foreign objects can be
projected. These stones or foreign objects projected by moving units may reach considerable distances.
During use you have to make sure that every person or animal always keep the necessary safety distance
to the machine.
Minimum safety distance for all machines equipped with at least one rotor: 80 metres.
Do not wear flowing garments, have long hair flowing freely or jewellery that could be seized by or get
stuck in mowing parts of the machine.
Never put your hands, arms or feet near moving parts, even those running at slow speed. Keep a safe
distance from moving parts.
If you hear an unusual noise or feel an unusual vibration, stop the machine and search for and eliminate
the cause of the incident before recommencing work. Call your distributer if necessary.

Never transport the machine with moving parts.
Never approach the machine while parts are moving.
Never leave the driver’s cabin when the tractor is running.
Before leaving the tractor, disengage the PTO, place the equipment on the ground, tighten the parking
brake, stop the tractor controls, switch off the power, wait until the rotating and/or translation parts have
come to a full standstill, and then pull the PTO shaft off the universal joint shaft (for machines so
equipped).
Before any setting or maintenance operation, disengage the PTO, place the equipment on the ground,
tighten the parking brake, stop the tractor controls, switch off the power, wait until the moving parts have
come to a full standstill and pull the PTO shaft off the universal joint shaft (for machines so equipped).
It is forbidden to work under the machine as long as it is coupled; you have to place the equipment onto a
solid surface.
Replace worn parts with genuine parts
(especially for rotating parts to avoid the risk of vibrations).
2.2 WARNINGS / PICTOGRAMS.
The warnings and pictograms affixed to the machine provide indications on safety measures to be strictly
observed and contribute to avoid accidents.
Make certain that the warnings and pictograms remain clean and visible at all times. In case of
deterioration, ask your manufacturer (or distributor) for new stickers.
In the event of repair, make sure that the replacement parts bear the same stickers as the original parts.
2.3 TOXIC PRODUCTS.
It is recommended to have a first aid kit within easy reach.
Avoid in all circumstances that products like fuel, oil, solvent, antifreeze agents and cleaning products
come into contact with skin, eyes and mouth. Most of them contain harmful substances for your health.
In case of an incident, see a doctor.
Strictly follow the indications marked on the security labels of the toxic products’ containers.
Pressurised hydraulic fluid which escapes may have sufficient force to penetrate the skin and to cause
serious injury. In case of contact with the body, consult a doctor immediately.
2.4 BLOCKAGE (CLOGGING).
If there is a blockage of the machines’ moving parts (work tool) after a clogging due to soil or vegetal
material, you first have to stop the motor, remove the ignition key or disconnect the battery (or from
electrical outlet). Place the gear lever in neutral position. Tighten the parking brake (or hand brake).
Disengage the PTO. Uncouple the drive mechanism of the work tool.
Disconnect the hydraulic supply hoses if the tool is equipped with. Wait until all the moving parts have
come to a full standstill.
Bring the machine down. Put in place the stabilizing devices provided for this purpose (wedges, parking
stand, etc.).
2.5 FIRE.
To avoid all risk of fire, take care to keep the machine and its accessories clean. Keep them free from
grass, leaves, too much grease.

2.6 OVERHEAD POWER LINES.
Make sure that the clearance concerning the machine and its accessories is sufficient for all cases of use
of the machine. If the machine is in contact with a power line, you immediately have to bring the machine
to a standstill and to tighten the parking brake. Check if you can leave your current position without
touching the power cables; then jump from your position ensuring that there is no permanent contact
between your body and the ground during this time. The machine must not be touched until power has
been disconnected from the power lines. Every person approaching the machine has to be warned not to
touch the machine and one has to request to disconnect power from the power line.
2.7 HITCHING / TRAILING.
Hitching the machine to the tractor must only be done on the hitching points provided for that purpose.
Ensure that the machine is compatible with the tractor (minimum engine power, type of hitching, tractor
PTO characteristics, etc.).
First set the gear lever to neutral, tighten the tractor and machine parking brakes and disengage the
power take-off before standing between the tractor and the machine.
In the hitching area, there is a risk of injury by being pinched and crushed.
Do not stay between the tractor and the machine during the lifting of the tractor, if this manoeuvre is
steered from the tractor’s cabin or from outside the tractor.
For manoeuvres, select the lowest tractor drive speed possible.
During hitching, place lift controls of the tractor in such a manner that it can not move during handling.
Once the machine hitched, the hitching device has to be locked. Check correct locking and good condition
of hitching before moving off.
Make certain that hitching of the machine does not lead to overload or incorrect distribution of the weight
on the tractor which could jeopardise stability.
Weight distribution is modified when hitching the machine. Do not exceed the maximum load by axle (see
indications of tractor manufacturer).
Never exceed the maximum load permitted on the hitching points.
If necessary, install ballast on the supports provided for that purpose in accordance with the tractor
manufacturer’s instructions.
During hitching or laying down the machine, remember to place all support and stability equipment in their
respective places (for machines so equipped) to avoid the machine being unbalanced.
Particular case of a « two-point » hitch: the machine is trailed by the lower links.
Hitch the machine to a tractor the lifting gear of which is equipped with lateral and vertical locking devices.
In order to travel on the road, you have to comply with the mounting height specified in the instruction
handbook and to lock the lift.
2.8 POWER TAKE-OFF / UNIVERSAL JOINT DRIVE SHAFT.
Safety relating to the tractor power take-off and the machine driven shaft.
Before any use, check that the speed and direction of rotation of the tractor power take-off are compatible
with the planned use of the machine.

Check that the power take-off protectors are installed and in good condition. Replace them immediately if
they are damaged.
Do not engage the tractor power take-off with the engine stopped.
Disengage the power take-off when the angular limit of the drive shaft is likely to be reached, especially
when turning, climbing or descending.
Any contact of the universal joint drive shaft with the tractor or the machine can cause damage.
Safety relating to the universal joint drive shafts.
Only use the drive shaft provided with the machine or as recommended by your manufacturer.
Make certain that the universal joint drive shaft tubes are joined correctly, both in the working and
transport positions.
Before connecting or disconnecting an universal joint drive shaft, disengage the power take-off, stop the
engine and remove the ignition key.
Before each use, make certain that the universal joint drive shaft is in good condition and that it is
assembled and locked correctly.
Check that the drive shaft protector is still in place and in good condition. Replace it immediately if it is
damaged.
After having disconnected the universal joint drive shaft from the tractor power take-off, the latter has to be
covered with its protective cap.
Respect the universal joint drive shaft manufacturer’s safety instructions. For all maintenance operation on
the universal joint, please consult its technical handbook. The protectors must be anchored in the machine
and the tractor. Replace the shear bolt or the slip clutch of torque limiter or the protectors by genuine
parts.
2.9 MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR.
•
General.
Maintenance and repair operations must only be performed by qualified persons.
Always keep the machine and its accessories in perfect forking order.
Ensure cleanliness of oil tanks.
Respect the servicing schedule (see corresponding paragraph of this handbook).
Before any intervention :
-
Stop the engine, remove the ignition key.
Set the gear lever to neutral, tighten the parking brake.
Disengage the universal joint shaft, disengage the drive mechanism of the work tool.
Disconnect work tool’s hydraulic supply hoses.
-
Wait for all moving part to come to a complete stop.
Lower the machine, place the stabilizing devices provided for this purpose (wedges, parking
stand, etc.).
Let cool the engine, the gear boxes, the hydraulic components … of the machine.
-
Pay attention, risk of pinching and cutting by all moving parts.

•
Welding operations.
During welding operations on the machine (or tractor), disconnect the battery (or electrical power supply)
and protect the pipes (especially rubber ones) to prevent them from being damaged by incandescent
projections that could cause loss of oil, hydraulic fluid, coolant, etc.
•
Interventions on tyres.
Do not intervene on tyres unless you have dedicated tools and the necessary experience. Incorrect
assembly may seriously jeopardise your safety. If in doubt, call on qualified personnel.
Fitting tyres with different characteristics to those recommended by the manufacturer is forbidden.
•
Interventions on wiring.
Before intervening on electrical installation, disconnect the battery (or electrical power supply).
•
Interventions on hydraulics.
Before intervening on the hydraulic system, make certain that the installation is not pressurised.
Eliminate pressure before disconnecting the hydraulic hoses.
The hydropneumatic accumulator is a gas pressure device. It is forbidden to modify its external
appearance by machining, welding, grinding, perforation or in any other way.
The hydropneumatic accumulator and its fixation have constantly to be maintained in good condition.
All precautions have to be taken in order to never exceed the maximum permissible pressure for the
pressure accumulator.
After checking or adjustment, it has to present no gas leak.
Before restoring pressure in the hydraulic lines, check if all couplings are tightened correctly.
•
Repairs.
Replace worn pieces by genuine pieces.
Eliminate or have eliminated any failure likely to jeopardise safety.
Immediately repair any leak or incident in the hydraulic system of the machine.
Do not use your fingers to search for a leak or (pressurised) hydraulic fluid.
Damaged or defective protections and locks must be replaced immediately.
No original protection fitted to the machine must be removed or modified.
Hoses must not come from piping that has already been used in a circuit.
Rigid lines must not have any welding. Replace a flexible or rigid line immediately if it is damaged.
Repairs concerning pressurised units or units under voltage (springs, accumulators, etc.) call on specific
procedures and tools. Only qualified personnel should perform them.

3. PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
Take care not to spread over the ground and not to throw away into the drains old oil and substances like
hydraulic fluid.
Do not mix fuels and oils.
Collect emptied liquids in clean, sealed recipients specially provided for that purpose.
Avoid using recipients for alimentation and beverage bottles.
Bring back the old liquids to a collection and recycling centre so that they are recycled or eliminated in
accordance with law.
It is forbidden to stock, throw away, abandon in the nature or to burn tyres outdoors. Bring them back to a
salesperson or to a approved collection centre.
4. CLEANING
4.1 CLEANING METHOD.
Clean your machine after each use.
Cover all openings to be protected against penetration of water, water vapour or cleaning products.
When using a high velocity nozzle, do not hold it too close to the machine and avoid directing the jet onto
the hydraulic pipes and hoses, gaskets, filling caps, electrical connections, etc.
4.2 TYPE OF CLEANING PRODUCTS.
Do not use harsh (chlorinated) cleaning products.
Use cloths that don’t pill or soft brushes.
4.3 INSPECTING CORRECT CONDITION OF THE MACHINE AFTER
CLEANING.
Once you have finished cleaning, check the hydraulic fluid pipes and make certain they do not have leaks,
that the couplings are not loose and that they show no damage.
Immediately remedy any damage observed.
Check tightening of all screws.
5. HANDLING
The machine should be handled using the hoisting lugs provided for this purpose, using a hoisting device
equipped with a hook (crane, hoist, etc.).
Do not use the hoisting rings of the machine when it is full.
When hoisting the machine, advise any other person to leave the area. Never move around under the
raised machine.

6. WARRANTY
Our equipment is covered for 12 months as from the date of purchase against any manufacturing defect
on condition that the machine is used and maintained in accordance with the instructions set forth in the
present instruction handbook.
Parts or components that we do not manufacture and that are linked to the manufacturer’s warranty are
excluded from our own warranty.
The warranty is limited to the replacement of parts that are recognised as being defective that then
become our property, shipment costs in both directions being payable y the purchaser.
We shall not pay for labour costs except by written agreement signed between our product support
department and the equipment retailer.
The warranty does not apply to damage due to contingencies or events of force majeure, normal wear,
defective maintenance or incorrect use.
Equipment failure for whatever reason can in no event lead to a request for compensation.
7. PLANNED CONDITIONS FOR USE
7.1 WHAT IS THE MACHINE FOR?
The BLOWER SM are intended to be used solely for the following works: bedding of rest areas, animal
breeding buildings, henhouses and vegetable-growing as well as distribution of feed like wrapped bales,
hay or straw.
Any other use is considered to be contrary to normal use and is thus to be prohibited.
7.2 WHICH KIND OF TRACTORS IS THE MACHINE INTENDED FOR?
This machine is exclusively intended to be used with tractors corresponding to CAT 2 (NF ISO 730-1).
Any use with another tractor is considered to be contrary to normal use and is thus to be
prohibited.
7.3 OPERATOR’S QUALIFICATION.
The machine must only be used, serviced and repaired by persons who are thoroughly familiar with its
special characteristics and who know the corresponding operating and safety procedures.
Before using your machine, get familiar with all the controls and correct use.
In particular, it is essential to have perfect knowledge of all the tractor controls.
During work, it will be too late to catch up on lack of knowledge.
7.4 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS.
Working on slopes.
Adapt your speed and way of driving to the terrain, the roads and tracks. Be vigilant and take great care!
In all circumstances and especially on irregular and sloping land, drive the machine at low speed, above
all when turning, and avoid sudden changes in direction.
Do not brake suddenly and do not accelerate suddenly when climbing or going down a slope.
Lighting and night work.
Only run your machine in full daylight.

7.5 MANUFACTURER’S AND USER’S RESPONSIBILITIES.
Respect all the installation, operating, setting, maintenance and repair instructions contained in the
handbook.
Only use genuine spare parts and well as genuine accessories.
Do not modify your machine and its accessories yourself or have them modified by anyone else
(mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic characteristics) without first asking for agreement in
writing from your manufacturer.
Failure to respect these rules may make your machine dangerous and in the event of damage or injury,
the manufacturer will be released from all responsibility.

9. HITCHING TO THE TRACTOR
First of all you have to check the oil level of the angular gearbox and tightening of bolts, especially those
of the turbine blades, of the rotor knives and of the conveyor belt bars. Check greasing points.
9.1 HITCHING / COUPLING.
•
BLOWER mounted:
Position the machine’s drawbar on the tractors’ lifting arms by means of lynch pins. Once ensured that the
lifting arms are in their bottom position, slowly reverse the tractor in front of the straw blower in such a way
to bring the drawbar under the attachment points of the machine. After having correctly positioned the bar
underneath the attachment points, you can lift the tractor’s hitching arms until the semi-automatic system
is engaged. To make sure that the machine is correctly attached, check that the hitch latch has returned
into its initial position.
You now can hitch the third point to the machine, choosing the right lifting kinematics with the help of the
different holes on the straw blower’s drawbar coupling. To obtain ideal hitch kinematics, you will have to
ensure that the tractor’s hitching arms being in bottom position, the machine rests perfectly on its three
skids on flat ground and the tractor’s hitching arms being in height position, during work, the machine’s
conveyor belt is in a position as horizontal as possible in order to obtain good bedding performance.
You can then use the tractor’s stabilizers to maintain your machine in central position.
•
BLOWER semi-mounted:
Position the machine’s drawbar on the tractors’ lifting arms by means of lynch pins. Make sure that the
tractor’s hitching arms are at the same height on both sides and check that they are laterally flanged.
Slowly reverse the tractor in front of the straw blower in such a way as to match the hitching arms of your
tractor with the coupling pins of the implement. Position the safety pins.
9.2 PTO DRIVE SHAFT.
After having disengaged the power take-off and switched off the tractor enging, push on the PTO shaft on
the tractor universal joint shaft. Hook the chains of the power take-off protector to keep it in place and
immobile during rotation.

Important: You imperatively have to proceed as described below each time you hitch the
implement to a different tractor or each time you change the position or the length of the
third point in order to ascertain if the length of the PTO drive shaft is correct. Faulty setting
may lead to cause damage to the PTO and will result in rejection of warranty claims.
The PTO drive shaft delivered with the machine adapts on the majority of tractors of category 2 (NF ISO

To check if the PTO is not too long (BLOWER P), you have to:
Hitch the machine to the tractor as described in the previous paragraph.
Afterwards, without connecting the PTO to the tractor, lift the machine using the tractor’s lifting device
until the machine’s PTO shaft is placed at the same height as the tractor’s PTO shaft (in this position,
the universal joint is horizontal).

In this configuration, the PTO drive shaft is retracted to a maximum with regard to your tractor.
To check if the PTO is not too long (BLOWER SP), you have to:
Hitch the machine to the tractor as described in the previous paragraph.
Afterwards, without connecting the PTO to the tractor, lift the machine using its rear axle until the
machine’s PTO shaft is placed at the same height as the tractor’s PTO shaft (in this position, the
universal joint is horizontal).

It is important to position the drawbar of the BLOWER underneath the universal joint. If the bar
should ram the universal joint, it would cause irremediable damage to the latter which would not
be covered by the warranty.
In this configuration, the PTO drive shaft is retracted to a maximum with regard to your tractor.
Try now to bring the PTO next to the tractor power take-off. If it is too long, you have to shorten it.
Working with a too long PTO may cause damage to the latter or to the tractor’s PTO shaft.
To check if the PTO is not too short, you have to:
- Hitch the machine to the tractor,
- position the machine in such a way that the PTO drive shaft is extended to a maximum (lowest
possible or highest possible position, depending on the tractor model),
- check that the maximum length in use is less than « the length closed + 1/3 of the length closed ».

In this example, the PTO will be long enough if, extended to a maximum on your tractor, it measures less
than 1613 mm. For this calculation, pay attention to take as length for PTO drive shaft in closed position,
the length you get after having shortened the shaft, whenever this is necessary.
If the PTO is too short, please contact your retailer.
Working with a too short PTO may cause damage to it.
Furthermore, all recommendations of PTO shaft manufacturers have to be respected (see enclosed
manufacturer’s documentation).
PTO speed is 540 rpm. Check that, for all lift heights, the PTO drive shaft cannot collide with elements of
the machine or the tractor.
9.3 HYDRAULIC SUPPLY.
Before any hydraulic connection, make sure that the oil flow rate at the couplers of the tractor does no
exceed 58 l/min. For the use of the machine with a tractor having a higher and non-adjustable oil flow rate,
an optional oil flow throttle can be mounted on your machine. Please contact your retailer.
In order to supply your machine, the tractor has to dispose of one single acting spool valve with return flow
to the tank or one double acting spool valve. For optimum operating convenience, it is preferable that this
control spool valve disposes of a snap-in position for continuous pumping.
If all conditions described above are fulfilled, you then can connect the two hydraulic hoses paying
attention to put the entry of the spool valve on the pressure of the tractor and the exit on the return. The
exit hose is the one equipped with an anti-return valve (see figure below).
Prior to any hydraulic connection, pay attention that the couplers are clean in order to
prevent the circuit from any intrusion of impurities affecting the proper functioning of the
machine.
Check that, whatever the machine’s position, the hoses do not hang on anything.
9.4 POSITIONING CONTROLS.
Cable remote control :
If you dispose of the optional cable remote control and once the machine attached, you can position the
controls in the tractor cabin on the support provided for this purpose.
Run an off-load test to verify good functioning of the machine’s different elements.
9.5 ELECTRICAL SUPPLY.

If your machine is equipped with the signalisation set, you can move freely on public roads, connect the
electrical outlet of the rear lights into the tractor’s 7 pin plug. Check correspondence between the tractor’s
and the machine’s flashing lights.
9.6 UNCOUPLING THE MACHINE.
For uncoupling the machine, put it on flat and stable ground, switch off the tractor engine and release
pressure of hydraulic hoses.
- If you dispose of cable remote control, dismantle them from the tractor cabin and reposition them
on the machine, on the support provided for this purpose.
- If you dispose of electric remote control, you can disconnect them and let the control panel in the
tractor cabin.
Afterwards:

Disconnect the two hydraulic hoses taking care to put back the plastic caps after having wiped them.
Unplug the lights from the power outlet if your machine is equipped with. Disconnect the third point as well
as the PTO drive shaft which you can put back onto its support. To uncouple the lifting arms, press the
hitch latch (A) with your foot (see figure below). The tractor’s lifting arms will lower then to
release the drawbar from the machine’s hooks. You can now unhook the bar from the tractor’s lifting arms.

10.2 STARTING UP THE MACHINE.
Prior controls:
First of all, check the angular gearbox oil level and the tightening of bolts, especially those of the the
turbine blades, the rotor knives and the conveyor belt bars. Check the greasing points. Verify the conveyor
belt chain tension and rectify tension if necessary referring to the corresponding paragraph. Verify
pressure and good condition of rubber tyres as well as tightening of tyres’ bolts.
Make sure that protection devices are in place.
Environmental conditions:
Start up the machine on hard, flat and horizontal ground. Pay attention that nobody is in the vicinity of the
machine when starting it up.
Starting up and drive of work tools:
Before loading a bale into the container, run an off-load test of the machine’s different functions. To do so,
select the desired turbine speed by means of the lever situated on the angular gearbox. Engage the
tractor PTO and progressively increase power take-off rating until the speed of 540 rpm is achieved. After
having checked that the turbine is not vibrating abnormally, you can slow down power take-off rating and
switch off the tractor PTO.
Important: As the turbine is an element having a high inertia, the angular gearbox is thus
equipped with an overrunning clutch which implies that the turbine does not stop
immediately. Indeed, the turbine can continue rotating during about 2 minutes after the
tractor PTO has been switched off.
Once the turbine has come to a stop, you can check the different hydraulic functions, and in particular the
good functioning of the conveyor belt system and the rotor.
10.3 PRACTICAL HINTS FOR USE.
Loading a bale:
-
Round bale
In order to facilitate loosening of the material, it is stongly recommended to position round bales in the
right direction so that they unroll freely when the conveyor belt is moving forward.
First of all, bring the loading gate to bottom position.
Then there are three possible solutions how to place the bale onto the loading gate:

Reverse in front of the bale positioning the gate’s extremity close to the ground as can be seen on the
photo below. The bale being wedged for not to move back, continue reversing the tractor to
progressively position the gate under the bale.

If the bale is not wedged, position the machine in front of the bale with the gate’s extremity close to
the ground as explained in the example above. Apply the parking brake and then leave the tractor
cabin to manually push the bale onto the gate.

Another possibility is to use a handling machine to put the bale down onto the gate being careful not
to let it fall down.
Once the bale has been positioned, slightly raise the gate in order to be able to move forward the tractor
to free up some space behind the machine. The bale on the gate being in horizontal position, leave the
tractor cabin to cut and remove the strings. Once the strings have been removed, close the loading gate
to load the bale into the box, without pressing it too much against the rotor for not to prevent the latter
from rotating freely.

Cubic bale
Cubic bales will preferably be loaded in such a manner that the strings are located on the sides in order to
facilitate removing them thereafter.
There are two possibilities how to load a cubic bale:
-
After having opened the gate, reverse right on-line in front of the bale positioning the gate’s extremity
close to the ground for the latter to glide underneath the bale. The bale being wedged for not to move
back, continue reversing the tractor to progressively position the gate under the bale. Once the front of
the bale has reached the conveyor belt, switch the belt on in order to facilitate the bale’s moving
towards the front of the machine. Once the bale does not exceed the rear of the machine any more,
activate the tractor's lifting device to bring the bale back to horizontal position.

The other possibility is to use a handling machine to put the bale into the machine being careful not
to let it fall down. To avoid colliding with the sides of the machine and damaging the box,
prefer loading the bale from the rear of the machine and not from its side.
Then position the gate retaining posts in their working position and fit the restraint chain. Cut the strings
and remove them.
Bedding:
First of all, select the appropriate turbine rotation speed depending on the kind of bedding you want to
perform.
For bedding in animal breeding buildings, let the turbine rotate at low speed to obtain reduced bedding
distance. To do so, you have to pull the lever situated on the angular gearbox (see paragraph 11.1).
For bedding in lying areas, let the turbine rotate at high speed to obtain maximum bedding distance to be
able to reach the back of the building. To do so, you have to push the lever towards the gearbox.

Important: The change of turbine speed is not synchronised. Before changing the turbine
speed, it is absolutely necessary to switch off the tractor power take-off and to wait for the
turbine to come to a complete stop.
Once the turbine speed selected, switch on the tractor power take-off and increase rating until the nominal
speed of 540 rpm is reached. When this rating is achieved, take care to position the chute correctly to
blow the straw to the desired place.
Afterwards:
-
Switch on the rotor and the conveyor belt system to supply the turbine with straw (SH),
switch on the conveyor belt system to supply the turbine with straw (SM).
To this end, it is recommended to put the tractor control unit on the position continuous pumping. The
lever or switch actuating the start of straw supply disposes of a snap-in position for these elements to
function without the user having to maintain the control. Always start bedding with a minimum conveyor
belt speed and then increase speed little by little using the adjustment knob provided for this purpose (see
paragraph 11.1).
In order to improve the straw movement in the turbine at bale’s end, it is possible to act upon several
elements. Indeed, it is preferable to completely close the gate to bring the bale as near as possible to
the rotor. Furthermore, it is possible to increase conveyor belt speed to maintain good bedding
performance. It can also be necessary to lift the machine in order to slightly tilt the conveyor belt to the
front for the bale to push more easily against the rotor.
Once the bale is finished, stop first the rotor and the conveyor belt, then the turbine by switching off the
tractor PTO. When the straw supply device is not operating any more, it is imperative to put the tractor
control valve back to neutral to avoid damaging main components of your hydraulic system.
Important: It is imperative always to have the turbine in operation when the rotor and the
conveyor belt are actuated. If this condition is not satisfied, there is a great risk of blockage.
The same applies if material tends to accumulate within the turbine housing in difficult conditions, it may
be necessary to slow down the conveyor belt or even to reverse unrolling direction of the conveyor belt
system together with the rotor in order to avoid the turbine being blocked.
If despite of these precautions a blockage occurs, it is absolutely necessary to stop the tractor engine and
to remove the ignition key before intervening. To set the gear lever to neutral and to tighten the parking
brake. To disengage the power take-off and the work tool drive mechanism. To disconnect the hydraulic
supply hoses and to wait for all the moving parts to come to a full standstill.
It is possible to access the turbine through a check door situated on the front of the machine (see figure
hereafter).

Distribution of feed:
Feeding can only be performed with BLOWER SM (equipped with an adapted rotor).
First of all, select the low turbine rotation speed. If you do not use this speed when distributing feed, you
are risking to cause damage to your machine which will not be covered by the warranty.
Speed changes are effectuated by means of a lever situated on the gearbox (see paragraph 11.1); for
passing in low speed you have to pull the lever situated on the angular gearbox.

The user controls the sensitivity of the chute’s two hydraulic functions by means of adjustment knobs.
Important:
The chute’s passing from one side to the other has always to be performed with the chute’s
end-fitting being in high position, otherwise there is a risk of interference with the straw
bale.
During chute rotation towards extreme right or left positions (towards the front of the
tractor), check that there is no possible risk of collision with the rear retain hat or the tractor
cabin.

12. TRANSPORT
On public roads, respect the Road Traffic Regulations: respect maximum authorised dimensions (width,
length). If maximum dimensions are exceeded, comply with the applicable regulations for special convoys.
For moving on public roads, it is imperative to close the loading gate to a maximum and to position the
chute on the right side in bottom position so that it does not increase frame dimensions. Furthermore, your
machine has to be equipped with the signalisation set available as an optional equipment (please contact
your retailer).
Respect the maximum axle load and the authorized total weight. Make certain that the load on the
tractor’s front axle will never be inferior to 20 % of the tractor’s weight when empty. If necessary, install
ballast to the front of the tractor.
Respect the maximum authorized speed.
13. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
The user is responsible for the maintenance of the machine. To guarantee long service life and troublefree operation, carefully follow the instructions given below.
For maintaining the PTO shaft and the tractor, please consult the corresponding instruction handbooks.
Maintenance and repair operations should exclusively be performed by qualified persons.
Keep the machine and its accessories clean and in perfect operating condition.
Let drive elements (PTO shaft, gearbox, belts, hoses and other hydraulic components, etc.) cool down
before any intervention.
Respect the following maintenance intervals:
13.1 AFTER 2 HOURS USE.
Check tightening of bolts, particularly those of the turbine blades’ attachments, the rotor knives and the
conveyor belt bars.

Verify tension of the rotor chain. To do so, please refer to paragraph 14.4.
13.2 AFTER FIRST 50 HOURS OF USE.
Drain oil of angular gearbox. Unscrew the cap identified as being for this purpose and top up with an SAE
90 EP oil.

Check the assembly and correct operation of anti-drip air relief of the angular gearbox. Incorrect operation
may cause overpressure in the gearbox and damage the gaskets.
13.3 EVERY 10 HOURS OF USE.
Check condition of turbine blades and tightening of their attachments. A damaged blade may cause
vibrations.
Check condition and attachments of rotor knives and conveyor belt bars.
Grease universal joints of the PTO shafts as well as bearings of the conveyor belt and the rotor, preferably
while warm. The greasing points are indicated on the machine by the following pictogram. Remove excess
of grease.
Remove straw residues from the machine.
Empty straw residues accumulated within the machine’s double bottom by using the access hatch (2) (see
figure below). Indeed, the machine is equipped with a double bottom the purpose of which being to retain
straw residues to avoid them falling into the animals’ feeding troughs. Every ten hours of use it is
necessary to empty these residues through the access hatch (2) after having opened the locks (1). Use an
appropriated tool in order to make the stucked material fall down (broom). This operation has to be carried
out from the side of the machine. Under no circumstances you should go under the machine to empty the
hatch.

Important: All these operations have to be carried out with the machine stopped, the tractor
engine switched off and the ignition key removed. The moving elements must all be at a
complete standstill.
Furthermore, it is strictly forbidden to be positioned or to move under the machine.
13.4 EVERY 50 HOURS OF USE.
Grease articulations of the gate and the cylinders. Also grease the gearing system used for chute rotation
as well as the guard tubes of the PTO shaft.
Check the pressure control circuits: no oil leaks or seeping of oil on connections. Re-tighten or check
damaged connections, if necessary.
Verify oil level of angular gearbox.
Check conveyor belt tension and adjust if necessary. To check the pressure, you have to measure the
arrow in the centre of the conveyor belt (see scheme hereafter). If this arrow exceeds the value of 100
mm, you have to tighten the conveyor belt.
Important: When tightening the conveyor belt, always leave an arrow of minimum 50 mm
which is necessary for good operating of the machine.

Hereafter the procedure to be carried out to tighten the conveyor belt chains again (see figure below):

loosen the 4 nuts (1) on each side of the machine,
loosen the counternuts (3),x
re-tighten the nuts (4) whilst maintaining the screws (2) in position; pay attention to make exactly the
same number of turns on each side of the box,
once the conveyor belt tightened enough (arrow of 50 mm), re-tighten the counternuts (3),
re-tighten the nuts (1).
If you arrive at the end of the tightening procedure and the chains are not tightened enough, it is possible
to shorten them by two links on each side.

Maintenance and tension of rotor chain:
Important: These operations have to be carried out the machine being stopped, the tractor
engine switched off and the ignition key removed. The moving elements must all be at a
complete standstill.
For this setting, you first have to remove the protective housing situated on the machine’s left side
(photo below). Then you just have to check tension rating which must be 185 mm with a tolerance of + or
– 2 mm. If this rating is not in standards, you have to adjust it. For this adjustment, you just have to slightly
loosen the fastening bolt of the spring holder plate (A); then loosen the counternut (B) and afterwards
screw or unscrew the tension screw (C) in order to obtain the good tension rating. At last, re-tighten the
counternut (B) and then the fastening bolt of the spring holder plate (A).
After that, check good condition of pinions and the chain and then oil the latter using a brush and thick oil.
Finally, re-assemble the protective housing.

13.7 OCCASIONAL MAINTENANCE.
Setting of torque limiter with friction clutch:
Concerning the springs’ setting values, refer to the following table. It is important to observe exactly the
stated value (a difference of only a few tenths modifies torque considerably). Tighten the nuts in the
numbered order that appears on the drawing.

Important: When you stop using the equipment for several weeks, and more particularly during
periods of storage or in a humid environment, it is necessary to loosen the springs of slip clutch
devices and spread the discs to prevent them remaining jammed on future use.
Inspection of rotor sections:
Regularly check condition of sections and grind them if necessary in order to obtain quality work. Due to
its symmetry, it is possible to interchange them using the section’s second cutting edge when the first one
is worn.
Attention, handle the sections cautiously because there is a great risk of cutting or even
cutting off fingers.
Replacement of safety bolt (only on BLOWER SM):
The BLOWER SM have a safety bolt between the gearbox and the rotor drive. In the event of a collision
against the rotor, this bolt allows to protect the gearbox as well as all the other drive components.
To replace the safety bolt (figures below):

Dismantle the protective housing (A) situated on the left of the machine,
2-
turn the rotor or the gearbox until the two holes match and replace the new safety bolt,
3-
check that there is no bit of the ancient cut bolt left, remove the pieces if necessary,
4-
place and tighten the new safety bolt.

Drawbar height adjustment (only on BLOWER SP):
This adjustment concerns exclusively the BLOWER semi-mounted. It modifies drawbar inclination in
relation to the container.
To modify the setting, proceed as follows:

If the BLOWER is not uncoupled, uncouple the machine,
the drawbar inclination adjustment is made through the pivot axle (1) figure below,
loosen the pivot axle (1),
unscrew, then remove the two bolts (A) off their housing,
To be able to remove the bolts, relieve the BLOWER drawbar using a jack or a hoist.

position the drawbar in the desired height in front of the possible holes from the lowest position to
the highest position B, C or D,
replace the bolts (A) into their new housings,
re-tighten all bolts (1 and A).
