The OPIE exhibition provides a showcase for companies that are working directly in advanced technologies. Together, OPIC and OPIE are becoming an international center of scientific research, product development, and business relationships. OPIC/OPIE started in April 2012 at the Pacifico Yokohama as the only annual international event on optics and photonics in Japan to encourage close cooperation of academia and industry. 2015 will mark the 4th anniversary of the Congress and Exhibition. OPIC is composed of specialized international conferences on a variety of topics which represent the cutting edge of optics and photonics technologies. The combination of OPIC/OPIE is successful and growing, with an annual increase of conference topics, submissions, and exhibiting companies. International Year of Light 2015 has been proclaimed as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL2015) at the General Assembly of the United Nations on 20 December 2013, by recognizing that light-based technologies are vital for sustainable development of the world and provide solutions to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture and health. Based on the significance of IYL2015, OPIC 2015 will be held for developing photonics and lasers as the key technologies for the future of the world and the worldwide industry.
