Schaumburg Athletic Association (SAA) cordially invites you to participate in our

Spirit Spectacular
Our competition will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at
Schaumburg High School, 1100 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, Illinois
The Spirit Spectacular competition will include both cheer and dance divisions. The competition
is open to all youth recreation leagues, park district and school teams. This is an excellent
opportunity for your squad to compete against other squads in your division while having fun.
This competition is an Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association (IRCA) Qualifying Event.
First place winners will automatically receive a “Bid” to attend the IRCA Cheer & Dance State
Championship to be held December 5-7, 2014 at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Check-in time starts at 8:00 a.m. (depending on the number of registered teams); coaches only
are required to check-in no later than one hour before their scheduled performance time.
Competition begins at 9:00 a.m. A confirmation notification will be emailed to you
approximately one week prior to competition. This notification will include your performance time
and any last minute instructions or information.
Individual awards will be presented in all Divisions; exhibition division will receive trophies.
Grades 4th-HS divisions will receive individual trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place only. Team
score sheets will be provided from the judges.
The Universal Waiver is available for all IRCA events at (www.recreationalcheer.com).
Please ensure you review all information provided and submit the packet in its entirety. Divisions
will include a limited number of squads, so please register early to secure your entry. Please mail

GENERAL COMPETITION INFORMATION & GUIDELINES

General Rules and Regulations:
As an IRCA Sanctioned Event, we will be following their Rules & Regulations, Team Definitions and
Score Sheets. These documents are available for review in the IRCA website:
www.recreationalcheer.com. This information is not printable or downloadable; teams can purchase
a copy of the Rules & Regulations from the IRCA Shoppe.

Fees:
IRCA Members $15.00 per participant.
Non-IRCA Members $20.00 per participant.
Four Coaches/Managers will receive complimentary admission. Additional Coaches/Managers are
$6.00 per person.

Judges:
IRCA certified judges for cheer division and dance division.

Admissions:
General admission fee is $5.00 and children 3 and under are free. There will be no parking fees.

Awards:
All participants in the Exhibition division (grades K-3rd) will be awarded individual trophies.
Participants in grades 4th – HS grades will receive individual trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
only.
Teams that score a First Place in their division will automatically receive an IRCA State Bid.
Teams that are not competing against other teams (solo) in their division must score the following
to receive an IRCA State Bid:
Cheer & Dance:

K-3rd grade (All Exhibition Teams): 65%
4th - 5th : 68%
6th – HS : 75%
Coaches Meeting:
No formal meeting will be held; information will be provided at Squad Check-In.
GENERAL COMPETITION INFORMATION & GUIDELINES

Concessions:
Concessions will be provided by SAA and/or Schaumburg High School.

Vendors:
There will be a wide variety of cheerleading and dance clothing, souvenirs. We will also be hosting
a theme generated raffle-tickets will be sold for $1.00.

Videotaping/Cameras:
DVDs of the competition will be available for purchase. Per IRCA rules and the safety of the
athletes, flash photography and videotaping is strictly prohibited - offenders will be removed
from the competition by security and their team may be disqualified.

Check-In Time:
Check-in will open at 8:00 a.m.; Coaches only need to check in their teams at the specified team
check in time. Squads need to check-in no later than one (1) hour before their scheduled
performance time. Only Coaches and their staff are allowed in the warm-up area with their
team and security will enforce this rule.

Competition Times:
SAA will post the competition schedule one week prior to the competition date and can be
reviewed at our website http://www.saa-online.com or saa-cheer.org. We will also email the
schedule to the teams that are registered for confirmation.

Music:
SAA will be using the IRCA DJ for our event. Teams will have the ability to forward a MP3 file of
their music directly to the IRCA DJ (IRCACheer@aol.com). Please make sure that all music is
sent by the deadline of Friday, October 3, 2014. Please follow all IRCA 2014 Season Music
recommendations and instructions found on their website.
When you forward your music, please be sure to label the file as:
Organization Name/Grade/Coach/Cheer or Dance (i.e. Rosemont/7th grade/Smith/Dance)
We recommend your team bring a back-up CD and/or MP3 of your music. Each team will be
responsible for starting and stopping their music.
The SAA Spirit Spectacular Competition event is a sanctioned Illinois
Recreational Cheerleading Association (IRCA) competition. As such, all Rules
and Regulations of the IRCA are followed accordingly for this event

COMPETITION REGISTRATION FORM
Make checks payable to SAA Cheer and Dance. A return check fee of $35.00 will be charged for each check
returned as Non-Sufficient funds.
Registration Form and payment is due by Friday, September 19, 2014.
Cancellations must be made by emailed request by Friday, September 19, 2014 to receive a refund, minus the
$75.00 administration cost. Any cancellation after that deadline will not be refunded.
