Description
The Southeastern Trauma Symposium is a two-day conference designed to include interests of all trauma care
professionals. The conference addresses the clinical management of the trauma patient beginning with prehospital resuscitation through acute care and rehabilitation. National and local experts will present the most
current concepts in trauma care.
SYMPOSIUM OBJECTIVES
Following this symposium, the trauma care provider will be able to:
1. Evaluate and manage trauma patients using current trends and
advances in evidence-based medicine.
2. Evaluate and manage special trauma populations, pediatric and
geriatric based on evidence-based medicine.
3. Evaluate and manage trauma victims in the pre-hospital setting
according to latest clinical practice guidelines.
ACCOMMODATIONS
A block of rooms is held at the Hampton Inn, 822 Gervais Street,
Columbia, SC at a reduced rate of $135 per night for Trauma
Symposium participants until September 18, 2014. Thereafter,
reservations will be accepted on a space available basis at same rate.

you make your reservation.
ACCREDITATION
Certificate of attendance must be obtained at the conclusion of the
symposium, or at the end of the day for one day participants.
PARKING
Parking will be limited at the convention center. If you are staying at
the Hampton Inn, parking is available at no charge at the Hampton
Inn. If you are driving in, parking spaces have been reserved for
symposium participants in the Columbia City Parking Garage across
from the convention center. You will need to obtain a parking pass at
registration to exit the garage free of charge.
EMS CEU’S
CEU’s have been applied for through SC DHEC Division of EMS
and Trauma.
NURSING CONTACT HOURS
Contact hours have been applied for through Piedmont Medical
Center Department of Education.
Piedmont Medical Center is an approved provider of continuing
nursing education by The South Carolina Nurses Association, an
accredited Approver of continuing education by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance
with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council
for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership
of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Palmetto
Health Continuing Medical Education Organization and the Trauma
Association of South Carolina.
The USCSOM-PH CME Organization is accredited by the ACCME to
provide continuing medical education to physicians. The University
of South Carolina School of Medicine-Palmetto Health Continuing
Medical Education Organization designates this live activity for a
maximum of 11.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians
should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
Relevant financial relationships and acknowledgements of
commercial support will be disclosed to participants at the
conference. Faculty are required to disclose off-label/investigative
uses of commercial products/devices.
