President's Message:
Area Rotary Clubs

Dear Rotary Family,
My message this week is a very
special invitation to you for a
very special event!
Please join us at noon on
Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at
The Hotel for a Club Assembly.
We need all of you to come and
provide input to some very
important matters that will have
a major impact on our future.
This club is our club, not mine
or yours, but ours. It is stronger
when we all do our part. There
are many of you whom we have
not seen for a long time. We
miss you. We have many new
members, I am not sure you
have met them.
So, come and join us. I plan on
calling all of you as a reminder,
in case you do not read the
newsletter. I am glad for the
opportunity to serve as your
President, but I need your
support. There are so many
incredible things in the works
and they would be even more
enjoyable if all of you were
participating. We have a great
club because of the members
and the commitments we have
to each other and the service we
provide to the community.
Officers are working hard to
ensure that you are not
disappointed. We need your
support! Let us work together
and Light up Rotary! Bernice

In 1967, Dr. Husing was a member of District 5330’s (then District
532) Group Study Exchange Team to Zambia and Rhodesia.
During the trip, the team met with top level leaders in commerce,
industry and government. He met ambassadors, presidents and
business owners/CEOs. Dr. Husing states that if it were not for the
Rotary experience, international interests would likely have never
occurred. As a junior college professor at the time, he was able to
broaden his macroeconomic knowledge so that he could better
instruct and advise his students.
In the years that followed his GSE experience, his career
blossomed. Some of his positions included Senior Consultant to
the California State Assembly, Economist at California State
University San Bernardino, President of the Inland Empire
Economic Partnership, Editor and Writer for the Inland Empire
Quarterly Economic Report and Vice President of Economics &
Politics, Inc., dealing with economics and public policy.
Dr. Husing has traveled internationally to assist and advise on
economic development. He was part of a team to advise the
government of Latvia on conversion to capitalism in 1991. In Nepal,
he was personally responsible for 50% of the funding to provide
solar power to the only hospital in the Humla province. Indirectly,
as a world renowned economist and professor, he has developed
principles and studies that are taught to economic classes that
include international students from throughout the world.
