Dr. Ernesto Yu Photography Exhibit Lecture on October 7 Dr. Yu’s Photography Exhibit is located on the 1st Floor next to the Founder’s Bar and in the Millard Fillmore Room on the 3rd floor. The exhibit is sponsored by Art & Archives Committee Chairman, Dr. Suresh Sharma. Dr. Yu will give a talk on the exhibit on October 7. His topic will be HDR Photography and Beyond. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Normally, when a snapshot is taken, the visual document is limited by the standard range of the camera and lens used. To capture both ends of the spectrum from foreground to background, a series of shoots of the same scene are taken at different exposures: overexposed (bright), normal, and underexposed (dark). The photos are then combined into one photograph using a HDR software or Photoshop tools. The result is almost a 3-D rendition of the scene. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and dutch treat cocktails at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Yu will address the members at 6:00 p.m. There will be a “art table” for those who would like to stay for dinner after the talk. Reservations, please 886-6400. Dr. Ernesto Yu has a Professional Photographer Degree from the New York Institute of Photography. He is a past member of Twin Cities Camera Club and an active member of the Buffalo Science Museum Camera Club. He received several plaques and trophies from both clubs. Dr. Yu has won first place in the American Society of Anesthesiologist Print Competition in Washington, D.C., first place at Sister’s Hospital Staff Photo Contest and Monochrome Print of the Year ~ Buffalo Science Camera Club. He has exhibited at the CEPA Gallery, Amherst Gallery, Burchfield Penney Gallery in West Seneca, Amherst Audubon Senior Center, WBEN Art Gallery, Buffalo General, Sister’s and St. Joseph’s hospitals.
