Dr. Ernesto Yu Photography Exhibit
Lecture on October 7
Dr. Yu’s Photography Exhibit is located on the 1st Floor next to the Founder’s
Bar and in the Millard Fillmore Room on the 3rd floor. The exhibit is sponsored by Art
& Archives Committee Chairman, Dr. Suresh Sharma.
Dr. Yu will give a talk on the exhibit on October 7. His topic will be HDR
Photography and Beyond. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Normally, when a
snapshot is taken, the visual document is limited by the standard range of the camera
and lens used. To capture both ends of the spectrum from foreground to background, a
series of shoots of the same scene are taken at different exposures: overexposed (bright),
normal, and underexposed (dark). The photos are then combined into one photograph
using a HDR software or Photoshop tools. The result is almost a 3-D rendition of the scene.
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and dutch treat cocktails at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Yu will address the members at 6:00 p.m.
There will be a “art table” for those who would like to stay for dinner after the talk. Reservations, please 886-6400.
Dr. Ernesto Yu has a Professional Photographer Degree from the
New York Institute of Photography. He is a past member of Twin Cities
Camera Club and an active member of the Buffalo Science Museum Camera Club. He received several plaques and trophies from both clubs.
Dr. Yu has won first place in the American Society of Anesthesiologist Print Competition in Washington, D.C., first place at Sister’s Hospital
Staff Photo Contest and Monochrome Print of the Year ~ Buffalo Science
Camera Club.
He has exhibited at the CEPA Gallery, Amherst Gallery, Burchfield
Penney Gallery in West Seneca, Amherst Audubon Senior Center, WBEN
Art Gallery, Buffalo General, Sister’s and St. Joseph’s hospitals. He currently has an ongoing exhibit at Excelsior Orthopedic and Buffalo Ambulatory
Centers.

Order a glass in the Old Buffalo Lounge or a bottle in one of the dining rooms.
Pacific Rim Riesling, Columbia Valley, Washington
Portrays bright crispness, subtle sweetness and aromas of jasmine, pear and
apple, this wine exemplifies the harmony of Riesling. The sweetness plays wonderfully with fiery fare (from Thai to Mexican), while the natural acidity stands up
to richer foods (from French to German). (Glass $6, Bottle $20)
Groom Shiraz, 2011, Barossa Valley, Australia
Shiraz that is rich, but not overly jammy, tannic, or oaky in flavor so that it can show off the spicy, anise, berry flavors - true varietal
characters in the grape. A firm, fleshy structure and a fine texture. (Glass $10, Bottle $44)

This class offers moderate to high intensity total body sculpting exercises for the ultimate muscle challenge. Each

muscle strength and tone, improve core stability & balance, and gain flexibility & mobility, while working at your own level
of fitness. Classes are designed to motivate, invigorate and inspire you while working hard to attain your health and fitness
goals! Intended for multi-level fitness participants from beginner to advance. Men are encouraged to give it a try! Limited to

modifications can be made to match your level of fitness. Limited to 8 participants.

otherwise member will be charged for the spot and no make-up will be provided. Exception: if the class was not full or if
someone else fills the cancelled spot, the cancelled member will not be charged. Walk-ins welcome. $25 per class. 10 classes
for $225. 20 classes for $400.
Basic Barre & Beyond and Step & Flex Class Recommendations:
A heart rate monitor. Polar FT1 and FT4 are very good choices. Polar FT1 is a basic heart rate monitor that offers
accurate heart rate, average and peak heart rate and exercise time readings. FT4 gives a little more information such as caloric
expenditure and time in target zones. A heart rate monitor is not required. Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily
move in. It is suggested that you wear light clothing with layers, as the temperature may be too warm or too cool for your
comfort. Cross training shoes are best, as they allow easy lateral movement. But other athletic shoes are acceptable. Socks
with non-slip grips may be worn for Barre Class. A water bottle and sweat towel.

In this class we will perform self-myofascial release and stretching of the muscles. Foam rolling is a great way of minimizing muscle soreness and tightness and preparing your muscles for deeper stretching. Once foam rolling is completed, we
will perform a variety of stretches to compliment the rolling. Stretching will help to elongate the muscles to improve joint
range of motion for functional movements. Key areas of focus will be hips, thighs, calves, feet, upper back, triceps and shoulders. Please dress in loose, flexible clothing. Class time is at 8:00 a.m. lasting approximately 40 minutes on Monday mornings
beginning September 22 for six weeks. Cost $20 per attendee. Walk–ins welcome.
