HEY KIDS, KIDS CAMPS THE BASICS OF SEWING JUST ABOUT ANYTHING
$125.00 + HST
Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 1:00pm
Campers will begin by making an easy environmentally friendly lunch bag to learn or review the basics of
cutting, finishing seams, and sewing straight lines. Having mastered the basics, campers will then make a
pillowcase to master the basics with the addition of topstitching and using decorative stitching to personalize projects. Campers will then learn to read a pattern while making a backpack which includes techniques
for creating a drawstring casing and attaching web straps. Finally, zipper, interfacing, and lining techniques will be used to make a case that could also be used as a pencil case or to keep small sewing items
in one place! Experts who whiz through these projects will have time to begin a project of their choice pajama pants, a beach bag, or a project approved by the instructor.
***If you have already attended one of our kids camps you are welcome to choose a project of your
choice and our instructor will guide you through completing the project. Please make sure that we have
approved the project in advance to ensure it as well as the fabric are appropriate.***

THE QUILTERS CLUB

QUILTING
STITCHER’S GARDEN BLOCK OF THE MONTH
$420.00 ($35 per month) – HST for all 12 months!
The Stitcher’s Garden block of the month quilt is a great way to get to
know your sewing machine and what it will do for you as well as expand
your sewing and quilting skills. You will explore many of the decorative
stitches on your machine and get to use a wide variety of different feet and
techniques that will allow you to get the most out of your sewing machine
and have a pretty quilt in the end. You will learn how to do successful
machine appliqué, add 3D embellishments using couching, work with twin
needles, and much more. Use all the blocks to make the whole quilt or use
individual blocks to make smaller items like wall hangings or pillows.
Two separate classes will be offered in the 3rd week of each month except
December for a total of 12 sessions.

Five zippers and five cushion covers in five hours? That’s the plan!
Sewists with some experience will be able to make covers featuring a centered zipper, an invisible zipper,
an exposed zipper, a lapped zipper and a hand-picked zipper in this workshop. Students with fewer hours
at the machine will likely complete three of the five in class time but see all methods demonstrated. We
will also discuss how to choose a zipper insertion method for your next project – in plenty of time to prepare for holiday gift giving! The materials list and pre-work handout are designed with making the most

love the thrill of putting on something you made yourself and marveling at how good it looks both inside
and out? That is what this class is all about. Using only a conventional sewing machine, we will produce
french seams, mock french seams, flat-felled seams, the Hong Kong finish and bound seams. We will
complete a placemat in class that can act as a memory aid while sitting under your sewing machine to

BAG TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP

Bags, bags and more bags. There are patterns galore out there and so many lovely options, but getting a
professional finish can be a challenge. In this workshop I will share my tips and tricks for making straps
and pockets, getting a crisp edge and interfacing the bag. We will make a small bag with strap and pocket
suitable for toting toiletries to the gym or on vacation. What’s more you’ll be able to apply what you learn
