That World Mission Day may rekindle in every believer zeal for carrying the Gospel into all the world. Prayer List Adding to the prayer list on the front of our bulletin is Bob Barron, Karen Buerkel, Ivan Torres, John Owen, Bill Owen, Vivian Wrede ~ Pastor’s Message ~ October, Month of the Rosary The month of October each year is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7th. It was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful. The feast was introduced by Pope St. Pius V (1504-1572) in the year 1571. The Holy Rosary is said after daily Mass here at St. Henry and also daily on KVBM (88.3 FM) at 7:00pm and 11:30pm. How To Pray The Rosary - The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events or mysteries in the history of our salvation and to thank and praise God for them. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the five JOYFUL MYSTERIES, the five LUMINOUS MYSTERIES, the five SORROWFUL MYSTERIES, and the five GLORIOUS MYSTERIES. As suggested by Pope St. John Paul the Great, the Joyful mysteries are said on Monday and Saturday, the Luminous on Thursday, the Sorrowful on Tuesday and Friday, and the Glorious on Wednesday and Sunday (with this exception: Sundays of Christmas season - The Joyful; Sundays of Lent - Sorrowful). Joyful Mysteries Annunciation Visitation Nativity of Christ Presentation of the Christ Child in the Temple Finding of the Christ Child in the Temple Sorrowful Mysteries Agony in the Garden Scourging at the Pillar Crowning with Thorns Carrying of the Cross Crucifixion Glorious Mysteries Resurrection Ascension Descent of the Holy Spirit Assumption Coronation of Mary Luminous Mysteries Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan Manifestation of Jesus at the Wedding at Cana Proclamation of the Kingdom of God Transfiguration of Jesus Institution of the Eucharist “Pastors Talks” will Resume October 12 @ 9:45am in the Knights of Columbus Hall ~ New Evangelization October 19, 2014 1st Reading: Isaiah 45:1, 4-6 2nd Reading: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-5b Gospel: Matthew 22:15-21 Please support those who support our bulletin: Phillip C. If you are skeptical, try living a stewardship lifestyle for just one month – be generous with your gifts of time, talent and treasure and see how God provides for your needs.
