Safety Last! Silent film with newly composed score

This 1923 romantic comedy starring Harold Lloyd includes one of the most famous images from the silent
film era: Lloyd clutching the hands of a large clock as he dangles from the outside of a skyscraper above
moving traffic.
Screened with the premiere of a score by Rob Deemer and presented in conjunction with the Syracuse International Film Festival and LeMoyne College.
Performers include Kelly Covert, flute/piccolo; John Friedrichs, clarinet/bass clarinet; Peter Rovit and Blagomira Lipari, violins; Gregory Wood, cello; Gabriel DiMartino, trumpet; and Heather Buchman, trombone, conducted by Rob Deemer.

The 2014 Summer Farmer’s Market is winding down this month and what a great season it has been
for the community. Congratulations to all of the vendors and their manager Aileen Randolph of Empire Buffalo. The Summer Market will end on November 1st and the Winter Market will begin the
third Saturday of every month from 9 to 1 until May. The Winter Market is held at the American Legion on Chenango Street in Cazenovia.
Vendors must sign up for the Winter Market by mid October to have a space reserved for themselves.
Forms will be available at the Chamber Office and online at www.cazenovia.com.

Day 1: Sunday, May 10, 2015 New Orleans, Louisiana– Tour Begins from Cazenovia
Pick up and transfer to Syracuse Airport (22 seats reserved for this tour). Transportation
From New Orleans airport to Sheraton New Orleans Hotel.
Step back in time on a cultural getaway that spens in the “Jazz Capital of the World” - New Orleans! This soulful city abounds with rich history, mouth-watering Cajun and Creole cuisine, and a incomparable soundtrack.
Day 2: Monday, May 11, 201 French Quarter (Breakfast & Dinner included)
Enjoy a walking tour of New Orleans’ famous French Quarter where we see the majestic St.
Louis Cathedral, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Continue on to the ustling French Marketplace where you’ll explore Pirates Alley, the Cabildo, The Presbytere and the Pontalba. Stop to taste
a true New Orleans favorite– beignets at Café’ Du Monde. Tonight, roll up your sleeves and prepare to
discover how to cook New Orleans-style! During a unique cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking, your chef will indulge you in everything that Louisiana cuisine has to offer.
Day 3: Tuesday, May 12, 2015 French Quarter (Breakfast included)
Set out on a drive along New Orleans’ historic Esplanade Avenue. Then journey through Louisiana’s swamp on a cruise narrated by your captain. Learn about the history and ecology of this
fascinating ecosystem while keeping an eye out for wildlife including bald eagles, herons, turtles and
alligators! You’ll also see houses (accessible only by boat) of the local Cajuns who have made their
homes here in the bayous. Return to New Orleans and spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure to
discover this great city your way.
Day 4: Wednesday, May 13, 2015 New Orleans to Memphis, Tennessee (Breakfast & Dinner)
Travel north to Memphis, the birthplace of the Blues, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Soul. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in Memphis’ cuisine with dinner at a local favorite barbecue restaurant. Stay at the
Memphis Sheraton Hotel.
Day 5: Thursday, May 14, 2015 Memphis (Breakfast & Dinner included)
This morning, embark on a one-of-a-kind tour of the city of Memphis. Local musicians board
the coach and tell the story of Memphis’ musical heritage and history as you view the city’s many highlights...you may even be tempted to sing along! Then, don your blue suede shoes when you visit
Graceland, the palatial home of Elvis Presley. Enter Elvis’ 14 acre estate and visit his home, original
business office, trophy building and the Meditation Garden, where Elvis and members of his family
have been laid to rest. The remainder of your day is free to enjoy this city’s vast musical offerings on
yur own. Dance to the live music that may fill the open air or spend the evening exploring Beale
Street’s vibrant musical clubs!

America’s Music Cities Tour continued
Day 6: Friday, May 15, 2015 Memphis—Nashville (Breakfast Included)
Journey to the “Music Capital of the World” - Nashville. Check into the Grand Ole Opry Resort Hotel. This evening , take your reserved seat at the renowned “Grand Ole Opry”. What began
as a building where a local radio broadcast show aired once a week in 1925 has grown to become an
entertainment complex that attracts music fans from all over the world. After the show, take a behindthe-scenes look at the music during a backstage tour of the Opry! Next, discover the history and learn
about the operations of the show during a talk with the Grand Ole Opry staff.
Day 7: Saturday, May 16, 2015 Nashville (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Your day begins with a tour of the historic RCA Studio B for an up-close look at Nashville’s
oldest remaining record studio where Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and Charlie Pride once recorded some
of their classic hits. Learn the secrets of how each artist recorded their chart-topping music in this famous studio, where you may even have the opportunity to record your on hit!! Then, explore the
Country Music Hall of Fame, the largest museum of popular music in the world. The museum’s vast
collections of memorabilia, costumes, recordings and instruments are artfully presented in cutting-edge
exhibits relaying the colorful histories of country music and its artists. Learn about the Hatch Show
Print, the original printer of the concert flyer for famous country musicians, and have the opportunity to
see how they are still printed today. Later today, a local guide will share the history and lore of Music
City during a sightseeing tour. Visit the old Ryman Auditorium and view the State Capitol, Music
Row and the Parthenon—a full scale replica of the Athenian original.
Day 8: Sunday, May 17, 2015 Nashville Tour Ends (Breakfast included)
As your journey comes to a close, return home with a wealth of memories that will have you
humming a new tune. Fly Nashville to Syracuse and bus to Cazenovia.

CRIS Timebank
The Mission of the CRIS Timebank is in a place to strengthen the informal support system of family,
neighborhood and community within the Cazenovia, Nelson and Fenner areas. The network of service
credit exchanges will enhance the CRIS mission to help seniors to stay in their homes as long as possible.
What is a Tmebank? A Timebank is a system is set up to exchange the time and talents of community
members to meet the needs of friends, neighbors and the larger community. During this initial year, the
Timebank is open to those 55 and older. Call 655-5743 for more information.
