Panel 1: Regeneration, Property & Infrastructure - Investing in sustained growth
Regeneration and property has been one of the most popular sectors for Chinese investment
in the UK. Together with the industry surrounding it, it is vital for continued economic growth,
helping to strengthen communities and upgrade the value of land. The UK offers high-quality
regeneration and real estate opportunities for investors, including residential, commercial,

Panel 2: Infrastructure Cooperation - The role of PPP in UK-China third-market collaboration
China and the UK have a long tradition of partnerships in infrastructure projects. The
complementary skills and expertise of each country in delivering affordable, efficient and
sustainable infrastructure creates an ideal basis on which to establish strategic infrastructure
partnerships in China, the UK or third markets such as Africa and South America. Such projects
need both investment and financing, and there are inherent risks dependent on the size of
the investment, build times and the involvement of different partners. Effective financing
tools are crucial to successful implementation. This panel will analyse how public-private
partnerships can serve as a tool for risk mitigation and cost-sharing, and panellists will look
into the current state of adaptation of PPP in projects around the world.

system and NHS reform? Which new elements will contribute to the value chain?
And what will people in each country require from the life sciences sector?
This panel will consider the work of the Healthcare Trade & Investment Working Group of the
UK-China Joint Economic Trade Commission (JETC), evaluating the existing value chain and
asking what the modernisation of China’s life sciences sector will bring to the UK. They will
also look from the Chinese perspective at how it can benefit from being a late mover in the
market. Will China investors move in for British R&D facilities?
Finally, panellists will explore the question of Sino-UK partnerships in Africa, relating their
