The proposed changes involved rules,
as well as italicized explanations or clarifications adopted by the Board. It was the
sense of the Board that rather than having italicized clarifications and interpretations, it would be preferable to have
the applicable sections of the rules
rewritten so that they did not need clarifications and interpretations, with the
italicized sections eliminated or incorporated into the actual rule. Staff was
directed to relay this to the Delegate
Dog Show Rules Committee.
Match Regulations Chapter 2, Section
10 - Breed Standards
The Board reviewed proposed changes
to the Chapter 2, Section 10, of the
Match Regulations, which were presented by AKC staff as recommended by
the Delegate Dog Show Rules
Committee.
The change will make the wording
regarding breed standards being available
electronically consistent with the wording found in Chapter 2, Section 1. This
will be discussed further at the October
meeting.
Reinstatement of a Dog Disqualified for
Attacking
The Board reviewed a proposal from
the Delegate Dog Show Rules
Committee which mandates a number of
additional requirements and procedures
for the disqualification and reinstatement
of a dog disqualified under the provisions
of Chapter 11, Section 8-A, of the Rules
Applying to Dog Shows. This will be discussed further at the October meeting.
Rules Applying to Dog Shows Chapter
11, Section 1 - Limited Registration
The Board reviewed a proposed revision to Chapter 11, Section 1, of the
Rules Applying to Dog Shows, to make it
consistent with other portions of the section and Chapter 3. The recommendation changes the time frame in which a
limited registration must be removed for
a dog to compete in a breed competition. Currently, the rule requires the limited registration to be removed prior to
entry. The change would indicate that
the limited registration must be removed
prior to a dog being exhibited. This
change provides exhibitors an additional
two weeks to submit their paperwork to
AKC. This change was approved by the
Delegate Dog Show Rules Committee
GZ secretary’s page
(DSRC). This will be discussed further at
the October meeting.
Use of Ramp in Judging
The Board reviewed the Board Policy
concerning the use of ramps in judging
breeds. Staff was directed to contact the
Parent Club for every breed which may
be currently judged on the ramp at the
breed level to determine if they wished
to have the ramp used at all levels of
conformation competition and if so
whether as a requirement or at the discretion of the judge.
