29th Sunday in Ordinary Time
REPAY GOD
“Give
to Caesar
the things of
Caesar, and to
God the things of
God” is Jesus’
response to a trick
question about
paying taxes and
living in the Spirit.
We, living in
between the time
of Jesus’ first and second comings and with a foot in
both camps, are called to do both. Out of the good
news given to us through words, power and the Holy
Spirit, we can influence the things of Caesar toward a
course that leads to God. It is a risky and complex job.
Are you prepared to try?

Fall Prayer Vigil Starts September 24th
This weekend is World Mission Sunday. For
this year's celebration, we are focusing on the
words from St. Matthew's Gospel, "I Will Build
My Church" (Matthew 16:18), highlighting the
outreach of local churches through priests,
religious and laity among the poor and
marginalized half a world away. The specific
example we have chosen is of Bishop
Wenceslao (Wens) Padilla, the first Bishop of
Mongolia, and his fellow missionary priests
from the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart
of Mary and their work among families and
children in need, sharing God's love and mercy,
His hope and peace, while offering practical
help - changing lives every day! Similar help is
provided to mission churches in territories
covering more than half the globe.
Your prayers and generous support offered to
the Society for the Propagation of the Faith on
World Mission Sunday directly benefit the
mission church - places like Mongolia where
the young church is growing, filled with zeal
for the faith, but lacking resources for its
outreach to families and those in need. Such
support is a concrete way to "build our Church"
- to deepen your relationship with Jesus by
helping Bishop Wens and so many other
missionaries around the world.
FYI -------------Barb is usually in the office
on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The mission of the campaign is to bring
together the body of Christ in a spirit of
unity during a focused 40 day campaign of
prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with
the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s
favor to turn hearts and minds from a
culture of death to a culture of life, thus
bringing an end to abortion.
This year, St. Joseph will be collecting
diapers for this cause. Look for the bassinet
when entering church.
The Catholic Social Services St. Francis Gift &
Thrift Store in Auburn is in great need of more
volunteers--especially as we come into the Christmas
sales season beginning early November. Two
volunteers are needed for each shift on most days, and
right now we are struggling to find one volunteer each
shift. God always provides!!
Please give this some prayerful consideration. It can
be 1 or 2 of our 2 hour shifts a month, or, once a week-whatever works into your schedule. All our volunteers
are greatly appreciated--the store cannot continue to
function without you!! The Social Services side of the
building is able to reach out to all the surrounding
communities with mobile food pantries & counseling
help because of the work we do on the thrift store side.
Please come & be a part of our "team" helping God
provide for the needs of His people in SE Nebraska!
If you would like to help, please call Lana Fulton.
Home: 402-274-5608. Cell: 402-274-7462. Or, stop by
the store to fill out a volunteer information form.
Thank you for your continued support through
donations, shopping, & especially prayer!
