WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS: A. “Child Sex Offenders Typologies and Case Studies” Through the use of specific cases this workshop will focus on identifying sex offenders: what motivates offenders, what triggers them to abuse, what tactics are used by offenders to engage victims, and what tactics do offenders use to avoid detection. Participants will be provided with provocative insights that may not be part of current practices and strategies used by social workers, treatments providers, medical professionals, investigators and the courts. B. “Adolescent Depression and Suicide” Each victim child of sexual or physical abuse presents with unique behaviors and coping mechanisms that affect their relationships and how they actually function in different settings. Participants of this workshop will be provided with skills and insight to recognize troubled youth in time to prevent tragedy, including acting out on themselves or others; and to suggest and discuss treatment methods.
