Submit your work interpreting this year's theme, "the world would be a better place if …" by Wed. Nov. 12 in the Hanford main office. Contest Rules and entry forms can be found in the main office and on the wastatepta.org website, under Programs, Reflections, and Forms, links. Categories include visual arts, music composition, literature, dance choreography, photography, and film production. Students who are eligible under the ADA can enter in the special artist division in any of the above categories. Student work will be displayed at Art Reception on Nov. 25th outside the auditorium. No prior bowling experience is necessary. So, grab some friends and have fun while improving your game and showing some Falcon spirit. All new and returning bowlers make sure to register online and take care of fees and requirements before the first day of practice Monday, November 3rd at Atomic Bowl @3:00. Winter Sports Online Registration begins on Monday, October 13th. All students interested in participating in basketball, wrestling, boys swim and dive, and girls bowling MUST register online, have a current physical, have an ASB card and pay the $55 sport fee prior to the first day of practice. Also, check with Mrs. Branson in the office to make sure your physical won't expire before the end of the season. DECA is a business and entrepreneurial club where you will learn everything from presenting ideas in front of business executives, to preparing you to execute the perfect interview for any job in your career. DECA has annual competitions and conferences in various cities and states, where you compete in executing what you've learned at home. It’s fun, exciting, and engaging. Mandatory DECA-FLC Meeting on Monday October 20 @ 2:30 in Mrs. Shively's room 1202 RECYCLE CLUB Recycle Club meets on Fridays directly after school. It only takes half an hour of your time, and it's really beneficial to our school. If you are interested, we meet in Mrs. Stordeur's room at 1:30PM Parents can also help HHS Recycle Club by purchasing supplies or recycling ink cartridges at Staples. Just give the cashier the school’s telephone number, 509-967-6500, and Recycle Club will receive credit. So far with our credit, we have been able to purchase blue recycle containers. Last year we recycled over 125,000 lbs of material!! Engineering Club is for all students interested in Robotics, programming, circuitry, business, and whatever other engineering activities you want to do. Students are free to come even if they have absolutely no engineering knowledge or experience! Engineering Club meets on Thursday nights @ 6:30 in Mrs. Stordeur’s room #2610. We learn about robotics, programming and other cool electronics. Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. Trick or treat for UNICEF, our key club goal is project eliminate which helps eliminate neonatal tetanus Knowledge Bowl meets on Wednesdays at 2:30 PM in Mr. Wilsons Room (2013). Come test your wits and learn new information in a friendly yet competitive setting. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience. ECOLOGY CLUB Ecology Club meets every Wednesday at 2:30 PM in Mr. Johns' classroom #2613. It's a lot of fun if you're not afraid to get down and dirty! It's never too late to join, so come hang out at Ecology Club! JSA stands for Junior State of America and is a nationwide organization that provides an avenue for teens to debate and discuss government and politics. It's a great way to learn more about our government and become a better public speaker. Come check it out! Buddy Club is a fun inclusive club for students that has different events throughout the year including: going to the movies, having a Monster Mash, going bowling, and having a huge prom for Buddy Clubs from high schools all over the Tri-Cities. Baby Ads are due Oct. 31! If you/your family is interested in submitting a baby ad for the yearbook, here are the steps: 1. Pay $50 to bookkeeping either in person or online. 2. Submit your favorite color picture with a message. We prefer that you scan and submit it digitally to the email above, making sure you scan at 300 dpi. If you submit a picture, we’ll scan it. Please do not give us a priceless picture, though. 3. Submit your message of no more than 300 characters digitally at tinyurl.com/hanfordbabyads Photos should be school appropriate, and even if they’re cute baby shots, please don’t send naked baby pictures. Please don’t paper clip or staple the photos or write on the backs. The ink can bleed onto another photo. If you would like your photo returned, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope adequate for the return of your photo. We will return the photos after the pages and the proofs are finished--sometime during second semester. All of this must be done by Oct. 31!
