Pre-school Programs at the Good Zoo!
M is for Marsupial (October 8 or October 11)
Meet our new friend from this unusual group of mammals. Play “What is Hidden in
Your Pocket”? Enjoy tricking the teacher and making a marsupial snack during this
exciting class.
N is for Nocturnal (October 29 or November 1)
Meet a few creatures of the night at the zoo. Play a funny flashlight game and participate in activities that challenge your 5 senses. You’ll finish your visit “glowing”
with happiness.
All programs begin at 10:30am and last one hour. Pre-school programs at the Good
Zoo are a great way for parents or grandparents to explore nature and wildlife with
their children. The programs, which are for 2 - 4 year olds, are designed using the
Content Standards and Learning Criteria for West Virginia Pre-Kindergarten. Each
program is one hour in length and includes crafts, songs and even live animals.
Cost for zoo members $13.00; non-members $16.
Additional siblings are $3 each. (tax is included)

37th Annual Oglebayfest, October 3 - 5
Begun as a “thanks” to the public for its continued support, Oglebayfest has
grown into the area’s premier fall festival!
The Phil Maxwell Artists’ & Gourmet Markets open on Friday afternoon in
the Mansion woods. A parade opens the festivities on Saturday and a free
firework display climaxes the day.

The Master Naturalist program is a series of classes dedicated to the study of
native wildlife. Classes are taught by college professors, zoo staff, DNR biologists
and other experts. Class topics include birds, reptiles & amphibians, wetlands,
trees & shrubs, wildflowers and even more specific themes like monarch butterflies
and box turtles. Participants in the program include college students, retired
persons, teachers, farmers, scout leaders and lots of other people who are
interested in nature.

M is for Marsupial (October 8 or October 11)
Meet our new friend from this unusual group of mammals. Play “What is Hidden in
Your Pocket”? Enjoy tricking the teacher and making a marsupial snack during this
exciting class.
N is for Nocturnal (October 29 or November 1)
Meet a few creatures of the night at the zoo. Play a funny flashlight game and participate in activities that challenge your 5 senses. You’ll finish your visit “glowing”
with happiness.
All programs begin at 10:30am and last one hour. Pre-school programs at the Good
Zoo are a great way for parents or grandparents to explore nature and wildlife with
their children. The programs, which are for 2 - 4 year olds, are designed using the
Content Standards and Learning Criteria for West Virginia Pre-Kindergarten. Each
program is one hour in length and includes crafts, songs and even live animals.
Cost for zoo members $13.00; non-members $16.
Additional siblings are $3 each. (tax is included)

Begun as a “thanks” to the public for its continued support, Oglebayfest has
grown into the area’s premier fall festival!
The Phil Maxwell Artists’ & Gourmet Markets open on Friday afternoon in
the Mansion woods. A parade opens the festivities on Saturday and a free
firework display climaxes the day.

The Master Naturalist program is a series of classes dedicated to the study of
native wildlife. Classes are taught by college professors, zoo staff, DNR biologists
and other experts. Class topics include birds, reptiles & amphibians, wetlands,
trees & shrubs, wildflowers and even more specific themes like monarch butterflies
and box turtles. Participants in the program include college students, retired
persons, teachers, farmers, scout leaders and lots of other people who are
interested in nature.
