Lifetime Achievement Award
Larry McNaughton
Larry McNaughton began his relationship
with the Arc of Westchester 10 years
ago when he became a trustee for the
Foundation’s supplemental needs trusts.
When recently asked to describe his first
visits to the Arc of Westchester, Larry said,
“I found a caring community of people
who were working together to build
opportunities and most of all, I felt a great
deal of love being shared.” With no prior
connection to the Arc, Larry saw a need
and knew he wanted to help.
The Arc of Westchester quickly benefited from Larry’s 30+ years of professional
experience with strategic planning, market research and advertising and his commonsense approach to the creativity of communications.
Larry’s energy, creativity and contagious enthusiasm for the Arc of Westchester
led him to an expanded role as a member of the Foundation Board, and for
the last 6 years as President, he has successfully encouraged people of like-mission
to join the Board. He played an integral part in the extraordinary success of the capital
campaign to build The Gleeson-Israel Gateway Center; a building described as a place
for launching dreams shaped by individual choice.
Larry often speaks about every life being precious and every person deserving a
fair chance. As a key architect of the Arc of a Life Campaign, Larry was guided
by that simple principle. To quote Larry, “If you see a need, you show up. And if you have
any means at all, you give. Our campaign addresses exactly that as the
Arc of Westchester prepares to meet coming challenges – it is a wonderful time
to show up and give.”
Although he and his wife Angela recently moved to Colorado to be near their children,
Larry will continue to be a strong ambassador for the Arc of Westchester. Larry says,
“The Arc of Westchester occupies both a physical space, as well as a place in the heart.”
We are honored to present Larry McNaughton with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Origami Wish
Legend has it that origami cranes bring hope and make wishes come true.
We, Origami Wish, are a group of students who create and sell origami cranes to bring
this legend to life.
Our connection to Arc of Westchester began in 2011 when we fund-raised for the victims
of the Great Tohoku Earthquake in Japan by selling origami cranes. We met many
generous and kind people who helped us donate new books for the library located in
the heart of the disaster area. As a way to give back to our supportive community, and
because some of our classmates have disabilities, we decided to become involved with
Arc of Westchester.
Since teaming up with this wonderful organization, we have sold products ranging
from origami crane mobiles to gift cards at Arc of Westchester events, and most recently
at the Harrison Sakura Festival. In addition to selling the cranes, we have introduced
Arc of Westchester to the public by talking to people and handing out informational
brochures. We hope that our efforts will enrich the lives of children, teenagers, and
adults with developmental disabilities, bring hope, and make their wishes come true.
We are very honored to receive the Youth Partnership Award.
