The Festival, which is open to the community, will bring to South Jersey a fine group of authors who will discuss their fascinating lives. On Nov. 9, Dr. Judy Melinek and T.J. Mitchell will take you into the daily life of a medical examiner in their book “Working Stiff: Two Years, 262 Bodies and the Making of a Medical Examiner.” Melinek lays bare the truth behind the glamorized depictions of autopsy work on shows like CSI and Law & Order to reveal the real story of the morgue. On Monday, Nov. 10, Joshua Safran will talk about his memoir “Free Spirit: Growing Up On the Road and Off the Grid.” His criticallyacclaimed memoir delves into LUCINDA FRANKS…Pulitzer his remarkable life journey and Prize winner will speak how against all against all Thursday, Nov. 13. odds, found his way to Orthodox Judaism and law school. In the evening, Suzanne R. Krauss will speak about her book “To Vegas and Back, which tells the story of her mother who wound up being the most sought after showgirl in Las Vegas. Wednesday, Nov. 12 will be sure to provide laughs with Oliver Horwitz, who worked at the famous St. Andrews golf course in Scotland and encountered many characters, including Seinfeld creator Larry David. Be sure to come early to enjoy a beer and try your hand putting against a Woodcrest Country Club pro! Pulitzer Prize winning author Lucinda Franks returns to the Festival on Thursday, Nov. 13 with “Timeless: Love, Morgenthau, and Me,” which explores the intimate story of her marriage to Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau as well as their shared love for Jewish culture and their determination to build the city’s first Holocaust museum. On the closing day of the Festival, Sunday, Nov. 16, be sure to hear the captivating true story of Joshua Fattal and his two friends who were taken hostage by the Iranian border patrol, accused of espionage and imprisoned in Tehran’s infamous Evin Prison. Fattal’s memoir, “A Sliver of Light: Three Americans Imprisoned in Iran,” tells their stories from all three points of view and is a rare glimpse inside Iran and a timeless portrayal of hardship and love. Prior to the Festival, on Tuesday, Oct. 28, join us for a special event as Tanya Brown, sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson, shares her inspiring personal stories of domestic abuse and battles with depression as discussed in the memoir “Finding Peace Amid the Chaos: My Escape from Depression and Suicide.” This special event is sponsored by the Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service, with proceeds to benefit the JFCS Project SARAH to help victims of domestic abuse. Other appearances at this year’s Festival you won’t want to miss include comedian Larry Miller, Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, photographer Peter Guttman, fiction writer Tova Mirvis, and the Stars of David musical.
