| Surpac What’s New: GEOVIA Surpac™ 6.6 Introducing the new Stope Design Tools Module and significant digitising and 3D CAD tools improvements Surpac 6.6 introduces the first mining software solution with features specifically suited for the design of stope shapes. Including the interactive Stope Designer and Stope Slicer tools, the Stope Design Tools module provides underground engineers and designers with a new way to design stopes efficiently. Alongside over 80 customer-requested enhancements and product quality improvements, this release includes significant improvements to Surpac’s plotting, digitising and 3D CAD tools and to its industry renowned scripting commands for even more ways to advance user productivity. 3ds.com/GEOVIA The World’s Most Popular Geology and Mine Planning Software Interactive Stope Designer Eliminating the need for highly complex, clumsy and inefficient macro-based solutions, the interactive Stope Designer tool allows underground engineers to create practical mining shapes. By stepping back and forth through a series of planes to digitise a desired outline on each plane. Any number of reference solids, surfaces or block models can be used to guide the design process. The polygons on each plane can be easily evaluated using the block model, which allows for rapid refinement of the designed shape. Once the polygons on all planes have been designed, the volume, mass and grade of all material types are calculated and assigned to the designed solid for reporting and analysis. Benefits include: • Improved operational productivity and ore recovery through a set of dedicated tools for quick “what-if” scenario analysis during the design process. • Offers an interactive, highly dynamic and flexible underground mine design experience through the necessary spatial order provided by Surpac’s planes feature. • Supports CAD tools for the easy creation of designs that comply with key design criteria such as minimum footwall angle and minimum width, etc. Stope Slicer Stope Slicer enables underground mine designers to produce practical, tactical mining shapes by dividing any solid into smaller solids that represent the stoping units to be mined. By allowing multiple scenarios to be considered, this tool ensures the optimal design is chosen for use in downstream planning and scheduling activities to satisfy mining objectives. Once produced, resultant solids are organised, named and coloured to distinguish stopes from pillars and crown pillars, which can then be used in GEOVIA MineSched™, GEOVIA’s long-term and short-term scheduling product. Benefits allow you to: Table Entities in Surpac Plotting Given the prolific use of spreadsheets, all Surpac plotting users will benefit from improvements to the speed and quality of presenting tabulated data. Ensuring greater data integrity, the data defined in spreadsheets can now be easily included in Surpac plans and sections by direct reference to spreadsheet cell ranges, replacing the former tedious manual and error prone process used to create tabulations in plots. Core users will enjoy benefits that: • Ensure data integrity by directly referencing the source data and provides an efficient way to present the tabulated borehole data on plans and sections mandated by many government authorities. • Allow inclusion of block model reports, mine schedules, stockpile volumes, grade control summaries, etc. on plans and sections • Save time by enabling ranges of cells to be copied from spreadsheets into Surpac plots with Surpac’s Plot Editing window. • Automate routine tasks by extending the power of Surpac’s batch plotting to include content from spreadsheets. 3D CAD Design and Digitising Enhancements With Surpac 6.6, all core CAD users can create superior designs and models with fewer mouse clicks following significant improvements in CAD capabilities. Highlights include: • Surpac’s Digitiser Drafting mode now includes a new offset snap parameter, which allows the offset snap setting to be set independently of the distance snap setting. • Exact digitising and editing is achieved by snapping to virtual strings where surfaces and solids intersect planes. • Solids and surface attributes are now displayed in the properties panel allowing you to immediately interrogate and display user properties. • Improvements to various editing commands including POINT MOVE, SEGMENT MOVE when in 2D view mode. User Experience Enhancement • Evaluate multiple scenarios quickly using a wider range of slicing and evaluation methods. A significant number of specific enhancements, all listed in the detailed release notes, demonstrate Dassault Systèmes’ commitment to providing value for Support and Maintenance subscriptions. In addition, over 80 customer-requested enhancements and product quality improvements across a range of software features have been added to the release. • Gain greater flexibility in reporting with the ability to export to CSV file format and to create comprehensive reports that assess evaluation results. For more information and a complete list of new enhancements, features and updates, visit 3ds.com/GEOVIA/Surpac or email GEOVIA.Surpac@3ds.com. • Create solids easily that satisfy geotechnical safety criteria, represent stope blocks to be mined, and identify safety pillar blocks. D.13.1 The new Stope Design Tools module offers a simple and fast stope design process to improve operational results and productivity by maximising ore recovery while minimising costs. Included in the module, the new interactive Stope Designer tool steps through planes to delineate practical stope boundaries – ultimately creating a designed solid. The Stope Slicer tool then divides solids into practical mining shapes using planes and elevations to produce stope, pillar and crown pillar solids. • Interrogate the volume, mass, grade and metal content easily in the Surpac 3D graphics environment through the assignment of resultant solids attributes.
