Manufacturing is making a comeback in Delaware. Our state has worked hard to bring this industry back and our efforts are paying off. However, this opportunity comes with a challenge. Manufacturing today is not what it once was. It is high-tech industry with highly specialized equipment, requiring highly skilled and trained individuals to keep it running safely and efficiently. Finding technicians to fill these positions is not easy. Skilled trade positions are the most difficult positions to fill in any employment sector nationwide. In Delaware, 90% of manufacturing related employers have reported difficulty finding highly qualified individuals.2 There is a solution. We can grow our own talent — by training local people for local jobs. Polytech Adult Education is uniquely positioned to meet this need. Our new Electro Mechanical Technician* program will train technicians for these high paying, high-tech positions. Although the program is new, we are not new to the game. Polytech has been providing training in the skilled trades for over 50 years. We will build on an already strong foundation and expand our already existing industry partnerships, to address the demand for highly skilled technicians and we will see Delaware industry on top once again. Get trained as an Electro Mechanical Technician. *For more information, please contact Jeremy McEntire at (302) 697-4545. 1 Delaware Manufacturing Education Partnership, Survey, 2014 2 Center for Industry Research and Workforce Alignment, Labor Market Scan, 2014 For more info about Technical Trade offerings, see pages 14–15 or visit polytechworks.com FALL 2014 / WINTER 2015 POLYTECH Adult Education Professional Development Accounting4 Earn Valuable Certificates!
