This new national training program is building a cadre of welltrained responders who can work together as a team in a coordinated manner, from the moment the first emergency call is made, to the correct deployment of response vehicles and equipment, to a safe work area using traffic control devices, to final scene clearance. Positive Pressure Attack (PPA) takes PPV a step further to achieve effective ventilation during fire attack. It is another tactic that, properly used, can make life better for firefighters and those we are sworn to protect. As with any fire ground operation, PPA requires training and education to be performed safely and effectively. This class is dedicated to providing information and resources about the use of positive pressure on the fire ground. It is a work in progress, and will evolve and grow. The second half deals with how landfills and recycling processing centers operate to provide firefighters with a basic understanding of the complexities involved in fighting fires/hazmat situations in a difficult work environment. Iowa Fire Service Bookstore: The Iowa Fire Service Bookstore (IFSB) will have a booth at the Northwestern Area Training Academy Educational Conference. The IFSB generally operates as a mail order service provided by the Fire Service Training Bureau. The booth will give customers the opportunity to look at and purchase merchandise. Orders can also be placed for any item not on-hand at the Training Academy. Purchases from the IFSB will allow you to supplement your training and classroom activities with educational manuals that will enhance your learning.
