Veterans Invited to Attend Public Honorary Service – All veterans, their families, and community members
are invited to attend a service for veterans’ recognition on Tuesday, November 11, from 12 to 1 PM at Troy Christian
High School. The elementary, junior high and high school students will lead this chapel to honor all former and current
military personnel. We ask that all veterans arrive at 11:30 AM in the athletic foyer at the high school at 700 South
Dorset Road, Troy. All TCS families and community members are encouraged to attend to honor these great men and
women. Please note: Elementary students should wear red, white and blue chapel clothes.
Invitation To Pray - Enlarge The Tent Prayer Committee has been praying on the school grounds on a regular basis,
and will continue to do so throughout the campaign and beyond. Please gather with us. We need you to join in with
us! Attached is more information and the times when one or more from the committee will be at the school praying.
Market Day - The November order form will be sent home and is due back to the main office by Wednesday, October 22 or order online at www.marketday.com by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, October 22. Pickup is in the TCE gym from
3:15 PM to 5:30 PM on Monday, October 27. *These dates are different than previously published*

Target Community Rewards - You need a Target credit card, then you may designate Troy Christian by going to the
Target website, calling the number on the back of your credit card or visiting customer service while at the store. Our
school account ID number with Target is 22930.
Kroger Community Rewards - You need a Kroger Rewards Card (not a credit card) and you can sign up for the Kroger
Community Rewards program by going to krogercommunityrewards.com. Our school account ID number with Kroger

Box Tops & Campbell’s Soup Labels – It’s time to gather up all of your Campbell Soup UPCs and Box Tops! All
UPCs and Box Tops can be turned into the main office.
Remember, Box Tops are worth 10 cents each—they add up quickly! Visit www.boxtops4education.com for a list of

Also, just a reminder that the Campbell’s soup labels will no longer be counted—only the UPCs. Eligible products

ESM WEEK 2015 there will be another trip to Europe lead by both Mrs. Lawrence and Mrs. Speck.
All TCHS students currently in grades 10, 11 or 12 and their parents are invited to join us for 10 days, March 21-30,
2015. Experience the culture, language, sights, and sounds of France and Barcelona, Spain. Beginning in Paris, visit
Notre Dame Cathedral, the Arc of Triumph, the Latin Quarter, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre. We travel to the palace
of Versailles, with its historic Hall of Mirrors. From Paris, we take the fastest train in Europe south to the Riviera port
of Nice for a few days along the Mediterranean. Nearby Monte Carlo will be part of the adventure! We then travel
through Provence, stopping to see the ancient Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard, and the lovely town of Nimes with
its Roman arena. Crossing southern France, we visit the walled fortress of Carcassonne before finishing up in lovely
Barcelona, Spain, where we will see the church La Sagrada Familia as well as a beautiful home built by artist Gaudi.

TCHS Rhapsody Show Choir & Honors Vocal Ensemble are planning ahead for the holidays. Both of these
performing groups are actively performing in our community throughout the year. We are booking now for the holidays for both groups and Show Choir is booking performances for the entire school year. If you know of an organization or event that needs entertainment for the holidays or at other times of the year, please notify Mrs. Marcum at
the High School at 339-5692 Ext. 474. We book up quick for the holidays so please call as soon as possible.
Lunch Menu
The lunch menu can be found on our website under Calendar also, “menu for the day” or “next day” can be found on
the homepage in RenWeb in the bottom left corner. A printable monthly lunch calendar will be attached to the Parent
Page at the end of the month or can be found on our website > Academics > Jr. High or High School > Jr. High & High
School Parent Resources > Lunch Menu.
The fee this year is $3.85 a lunch when there is credit on the lunch account or $4 for individual lunches purchased
without a credit on the lunch account. Ala carte items are available at an additional cost. Meals are purchased either
in the student’s first period class by crediting their lunch account with a minimum of $38.50 or on RenWeb > Family
Information > Family Billing > Food Service. Additional amounts of $38.50 or more can be added to the lunch card as
needed. Students may also purchase lunch with cash in the lunch line for $4 a lunch.
Homeschool Parents
Spanish and Writing classes - Spanish will be 12:00-1:15 PM and Writing will be 1:40-3:10 PM in room 113. Both
Spanish and Writing classes will be meeting on November 5 even though there are no on-campus classes that day.
There will be no Spanish or Writing Classes on November 26. Please check with your instructors for clarification on the
schedule.
PHYSICAL SCIENCE LABS for all 9th grade students will be Tuesdays from September 30 - November 4 from 1:363:30 PM in room 118 at Troy Christian. Mrs. Amy Slone will be instructing. There is a $60 lab fee which will be assessed
to your TC account. You may pay by check to TC the first day of labs .All materials will be provided. Students are to
bring a folder and pencils. Please contact Mrs. Slone for questions at aslone@tcmail.org.
Guidance
Alternative PE information as the fall season is finishing. - http://troychristianschools.org/academics/guidance/physical-education-alternative-plan/ High school students finishing a second season of athletics this fall, check
out the Alternative PE waiver. Please know this is not an automatic process, the form must be filled out and processed
as stated. Turn into Athletic office to start the process.
Save the Date - November 5 Greater Dayton Area College Night - No matter what situation you’re in,
Greater Dayton Area College Night can help. Many colleges and universities from Ohio and across the country will be
represented at the University of Dayton Arena, located east of Interstate 75 at exit 51.

National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) now has an eligibility center for athletes to register to be eligible for college athletics. If your son/daughter is considering playing Intercollegiate Athletics at an NAIA
school they will need to register at http://www.playnaia.org/

Parents of Juniors-this is encouragement to have your child take the ACT or SAT before this school year is completed. There are more ACT & SAT test dates that can be registered for. Also we want to encourage you and your child to
take some college visits! You can take time off of school to visit colleges and we encourage this! Just need to fill out
an absence request form and turn into the office 2 weeks prior to your visit. A strong suggestion is to visit a college
when students are on campus to get a sense of campus life!
Troy Christian High School’s ACT and College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) code is 365-106.

Athletics
Athletic Parent Co-Op - Thanks to everyone who has signed up already! There are still plenty of opportunities to
get signed up for those who haven’t. The schedules are available on our website > Athletic > Parent Co-Op.
A few points to clarify:
•Each family will work three (3) events throughout the course of the school year. Families with more than one
athlete will work a maximum of six events (6).
•All sports are required to work even if there isn’t a home event on the TC campus, i.e. Swimming, Cross Country,
Softball, Baseball.
•If your student athlete is planning on a spring sport, please get your Co-op responsibilities done in the Fall and
Winter sports so you don’t miss watching your athlete play in the Spring.
•Parents who have signed up their athletes to work for them: If the athlete is sick or unable to show up the parents are responsible for making sure the work slot is filled.
•All Gates, Concession cashier and prep is for adults only.
•To work concessions a student must be 9th grade or older.
•“If I help with the chains during the football game, or I keep the score for the basketball game, does that count
towards my co-op work?” First of all thank you to the parents that help with that, it is greatly appreciated and
much needed for each team to have a successful home event. However, that isn’t part of the Co-Op program.
The Co-op is for gate and concessions for home events on the TC Campus. If you talked to me and I have you on
the Co-op schedule then it counts. If you didn’t talk to me and I don’t have you on the Co-op schedule then it
doesn’t count.
I will make every attempt to call you two days in advance to remind you of your work schedule. If you don’t receive a
call, you are still responsible to show up on time and work your scheduled slot.
If you are unable to make your assigned work day, please check the schedule on the web site and find someone to
swap with ahead of time. When you arrange a swap or sub, call or send me an email to notify me of the change.

Winter Athletes - Please check to make sure you have an updated physical on file in the athletic office before your
season begins. Also every athlete and a parent is required to sign an OHSAA concussion form. Both of these forms are
available on the school website and outside the athletic office.
Winter Player/Parent Meeting - All winter athletes, along with at least one parent, needs to attend our Winter
Player/Parent meeting on Monday, November 10. This is for all athletes’ grades 7 – 12, all teams. We will begin in
the gym at 7 PM as one large group and then split off into classrooms for individual team meetings. This is a required
meeting. If your athlete participated in a fall sport and both of you attended our Fall Player/Parent meeting, you only
need to come to the individual team meetings at 7:40 PM.
Fall Sports Awards & Recognition Night - Thursday, November 13 is our annual Fall Sports Awards & Recognition Night. We will begin with refreshments at 6:30 PM in the High School gymnasium. Group recognition will begin
at 6:45, teams will then split off into classrooms for their individual awards. This event is mandatory and all athletes
should wear what was formerly chapel dress.

“God Honors Bold Prayers and Bold Prayers Honor God”

In his book The Circle Maker, Mark Batterson shares the legend of Honi, whose bold and
persistent prayer was answered when God ended a drought and saved a generation. He
challenges the reader to a new way of bringing boldness to our prayers by using circles.
Mark says, “Most of us don’t get what we want because we quit circling. We give up too
easily. We give up too soon. We quit praying right before the miracle happens”
Troy Christian Schools has a vision well beyond our resources, but formed through dedicated
prayer. Only God, our Provider, can bring the support required for the modifications and
additions to the physical structures necessary to move forward according to this vision.

basis, and will continue to do so throughout the campaign and beyond.

Prayer Schedule for Onsite Circling:
Sunday – 1:00pm for families
Monday – 8:15am (every week) and 4:30pm (1st, 3rd, 5th Mondays of the month)
Tuesday – 8:15am
Wednesday – 5:00pm
Thursday – 7:15am* and 8:15
Friday – 8:15am
*On the third Thursday of the month the entire prayer team will pray together at 7:15am




There are no RSVPs required.
Come when you can.
We will meet at the tent, between the schools
The prayer committee member will wait for late-comers for 2-5 minutes after the
posted time. If you come after that, please find the group and join in!
 Once the group has gathered, we will either find a place to sit or stand, or walk the
perimeter of the school grounds per Rev. Batterson’s challenge.
 We will try to have printed prayer points each week to guide your prayer time. They
will also be distributed in various media formats.
 We will pray for 15-20 minutes

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX
STEP ONE: Use an empty shoe box (standard size, please). You can
wrap the box (lid separately) but wrapping is not required.
STEP TWO: Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl,
and the child's age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Print out the
appropriate boy/girl label (find this at faithgreenville.org). Mark
the correct age category on the label, and tape the label to the top of
your box.
STEP THREE: Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring
delight to a child.
GIFT IDEAS
TOYS: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos , harmonicas,
unopened Happy Meal toys, inflatable balls, jump rope, yo-yos, jump
ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with
extra batteries), slinky®, balloons, kazoos, compass, etc.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: pens, pencils and sharpener, erasers, crayons
or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, stickers,
solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
HYGIENE ITEMS: multiple toothbrushes or mild bar soap (in a
plastic bag), comb, washcloth, bandages, hand wipes, small pack
