2014 Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge
A Quick Overview
The Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge will be held on Friday 24 October 2014
at Parramatta Park.
It will feature teams of executives who will compete in either a run or cycle component
of the event. The aim is to encourage executives to improve their health and fitness,
whilst raising funds for two great causes - St. Gabriel’s School for Children with Special
Needs and Northcott.
Most importantly, teams can compete and executives can attend the special post-event
Fundraising Breakfast and still be back in the office by mid morning!
Get your colleagues and start training now – together you can get fit, have fun, and
support an organisation that makes a difference to so many lives.
How can you participate?
The Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge is a corporate event specifically designed
for the Western and North-Western Sydney business communities. We are encouraging
organisations throughout the region to form teams of executives or high-energy staff
members from their organisation to participate in either the running or cycling component
of the race.
Further information about how your organisation can get involved in this highly successful
initiative can be found in this proposal.

The 2013 Challenge raises close to $50,000
In 2013, Coleman Greig launched the inaugural Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge.
We decided to take our fundraising efforts in a new direction last year after finding that
many executives want to support charity and give back to the community, but in a way
that fits in with their already busy lifestyles.
Tapping into the growing awareness amongst executives of the benefits of a healthy
lifestyle and the rising popularity of cycling and running, Coleman Greig established the
Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge.
One hundred executives from across Western Sydney took part in the event which saw
them either run 12km or cycle 40km around Parramatta Park on the morning. Not for
the faint-hearted, the Challenge showcased the stamina, endurance and physical fitness
of executives from across the Western Sydney region with all funds raised going towards
two fabulous causes, St. Gabriel’s School for Children with Special Needs and Northcott.
We were joined at the Award and Fundraising Breakfast following the Challenge by
special guests Olympian Michelle Jenneke ‘The Dancing Hurdler’ and Paralympians Jamie
Paris and Paul Croft as well as executives from across Western Sydney.
Through event sponsorship and fundraising activities at the Breakfast, we raised close
to $50 000 for St. Gabriel’s School and Northcott.

Our Generous Sponsors from 2013
The event could not have taken place without the support of our generous sponsors last
year. Thank you to everyone who participated and were a part of the inaugural event.

The 2014 Challenge – Bigger and Better
Based on the success of last year, the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge will be
even bigger and better in 2014. Thanks to your feedback, we have made a number of
additions to the event this year. We hope to see more executives from across the region
taking part and by building on the success of the event last year, raise even more funds
for the two worthy causes.
More Options for Participants
The Challenge will now offer four options:
Running Challenge
Participants can choose to enter one of two running challenges, the longer option is
approximately 12km run or the shorter option, approximately 5km.
Cycling Challenge
The Cycling Challenge will now offer participants the opportunity to participate in either
an A grade or B grade component of the Challenge. Both grades will ride on the
same track and have different lap requirements.
We hope that these options will not only attract a greater number of participants, but
increase competition within the categories themselves.
New options for entrants
Corporate Teams
You don’t need to become a sponsor to enter the Coleman Greig GWS Executive
Challenge this year. We will be opening up the challenge to Corporate Teams. If you are
not in a position to take up a Platinum or Gold Sponsorship this year your organisation
can still enter a Corporate Team and participate on the day.

Our Fundraising Partners
Coleman Greig has long been a supporter of St. Gabriel’s School in Northwest Sydney’s
Castle Hill – organising the Annual Charity Golf Day from 1997 to 2012 and raising
over $735,000 for the School.
We have also organised a number of events and fundraising activities in support of
Northcott, an organisation based here in Parramatta that provides services for people
with disabilities.
St. Gabriel’s School
St. Gabriel’s is a co-educational primary school catering for children with hearing
impairment and other special needs such as intellectual disability in the mild to moderate
range and autism.
Specialist teaching staff at the school, and a purpose built environment, allow students
in grades K-6 to achieve success through a focus on communication, literacy, numeracy
and social skills. All of St. Gabriel’s programs are labour-intensive. High teacher to
student ratios, small class sizes and the additional costs involved in resourcing, including
the use of technology for children with individual and unique needs, mean that after any
available government funding and fees there is a funding deficit every year that must be
met through fundraising and community support.
Northcott
Northcott is one of the state’s leading service providers for people with a broad range of
disabilities, supporting more than 11,400 people with disabilities, their families and carers
across NSW and the ACT for over 80 years. A broad range of programs is provided, from
support in the initial diagnosis period and early intervention, through to early childhood
development and assisting adults gain employment and independent living skills.
As an independent not-for-profit organisation that receives some Government funding,
Northcott relies on the generosity of the community to continue to provide services
to people with disabilities, particularly in programs where non-government or limited
support is available.
For people with disabilities, the support and services Northcott provides can often mean
the difference between a life of isolation and segregation and a life of greater self-reliance
and confidence. Through the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge, we are hoping
to assist Northcott in providing support and services not only for their clients, but also
their carers, siblings and the entire family.

How does the Fundraising Work?
Sponsorship Opportunities
Businesses can participate in the Challenge by taking up a Platinum or Gold Sponsorship.
The fees you pay for sponsorship will all contribute to the fundraising for St. Gabriel’s
School and Northcott and provide your organisation with the opportunity to ‘give back’
to the community and be recognised alongside other high profile organisations within
the region.
We have limited Platinum and Gold Sponsorship Packages available so ensure you don’t
miss out on this opportunity.
Enter a Corporate Team
Your organisation can participate in the Challenge this year by entering a team of four
executives to represent your business on the day and attend the Award and Fundraising
Breakfast at the conclusion of the race.
Individual Fundraising
Everyone who participates in the Coleman Greig GWS Executive Challenge will also
be able to do their own personal fundraising. Teams can set fundraising objectives
and goals to promote their involvement in the Challenge and reach out to their own
network of contacts to support them. Not only will this raise funds for our charities,
it will also allow you to showcase your own efforts and involvement to as many people
as you wish.
Executive Fundraising Breakfast
At the conclusion of the Challenge, there will be an exclusive Executive Fundraising
Breakfast which will be held at the Parramatta Leagues Club Function Room.
Participants and executives from sponsoring organisations are encouraged to attend
the Breakfast and bring clients with them to celebrate their involvement, congratulate
the teams and of course raise vital funds for Northcott and St Gabriel’s School.
The breakfast will allow sponsors and their guests to mingle with professional athletes
and executives alike, while enjoying the camaraderie that accompanies an event of this
nature. This is also a fantastic opportunity to network with other executives and race
participants from across Western Sydney.
