Gain an overview of typical and atypical development and learn how to recognize red flags that may point to a child needing more specialized attention. Trainer: TBD Fee: $25/$35 By conducting regular developmental screening, you can gain insight into a child’s development and begin the process of getting help for a child if you believe that there may be a potential delay. Learn more about the screening tools recommended by MSDE, the referral process, building partnerships with families and the child care provider’s role in screening. It is proposed that by July 2016, ongoing developmental screening of children will be required by regulation. Announcement: Maryland EXCELS: Since the print of the last newsletter, MSDE has made a very important announcement regarding Maryland EXCELS: “The date by which programs must participate in Maryland EXCELS to continue receiving Child Care Subsidy reimbursements has been delayed. Due to the regulatory process, regulations will not be published prior to January 1, 2015. Therefore, the date by which providers must submit an application for participation in Maryland EXCELS is now June 29, 2015.” Use this extra time to learn about Maryland EXCELS and what it means to you as a child care provider in Maryland.
