Catch up! Senior Women’s Hockey Welcome back to hockey and welcome to Enniscorthy Hockey Clubs first newsletter of the new season! The women’s team in Enniscorthy has been in play for over 30 year, but unfortunately this year due to a fall in numbers we regret to say that the 2014/15 South East league will not include an Enniscorthy team. We would like to thank all club members that have tried so hard to keep it going but we vow with the 2015/16 season will again include a women’s team in Enniscorthy. Director of Hockey A lot has happened over the summer for Enniscorthy Hockey Club, the biggest of which was the introduction of Enniscorthy’s very first Director of Hockey, Rudolf Wortmann. Rudolf has had a long career in hockey circles coaching Ireland U21’s and is bringing his immense knowledge and experience to Enniscorthy. We would like to wish Rudolf the best of luck with Enniscorthy and we look forward to a strong season from the club. Club Website Over the summer senior club members Andrew Rothwell & Kieran Costello set to the task of building Enniscorthy Hockey Club a new website. Enniscorthyhc.com is now up and running, check it out for club news, fixtures and everything Enniscorthy Hockey. Grants We would like to thank Sports Active Wexford for the grant of €400 which will be put towards men's goalie gear. Enniscorthy Hockey Club was also awarded the sports capital grant of €10,000, which will be use to purchase new training equipement. Thank You! We would like to thank all 35 of our coaches that are coaching voluntarily, without all of them we would not exist and would not have the 300 strong members we have this year without their dedication and motivation. Senior Men’s Hockey After a strong first season from the Enniscorthy Men, they will look to keep it going in Leinster’s Division 7 league as they did in Division 8. With the first of their league games played, the prospects look good, after they beat Railway Union V 5-‐0. They take on St. Brendan’s of Phoenix Park in the NSC Abbotstown next in Leinster’s Division 7. Although, they have lost their captain Kieran Costello, the men have gained 5 news players, bringing them to a strong squad of 25 players, giving manager Fraser Rothwell a welcome headache. If you wish to make Frasers decisions even harder and wish to join please give Fraser a call on 087-‐7700489. Blitz With all sports game time is key in a player’s development. To make sure our coaches know what players they have available for their blitzes, we urge all players/parents to inform their coaches of your child’s availability at the time of each blitz. Junior Girls The first of the U8, U10 & U12 blitzes took place on home grass in the Astro Active Centre on 4th October. Teams attended it from Gorey, Carlow and Wexford. We would like to thank all who helped and came along to support and made it a great success. Youth Girls The first outing for our U14 came a week earlier, when they played against Railway Union in two games, the first ended as a 0-‐0 draw, while the second finished with a win for the Enniscorthy girls. Our U18 girls travelled to Railway on the same day but were less fortunate in their result, which ended in a 3-‐0 defeat.
