Human Resource Planning
•Coordinate with department heads to determine staffing needs
•Project staffing requirements for all greenhouse facilities
•Advise on all aspects of staffing including compensation
•Devise policies and procedures to facilitate the movement of high performing employees throughout
the company
•Work with senior management (CEO, CFO, CAO) in conducting and communication of annualized pay
increases within budgets
Development and Implementation of Policies and Procedures
•Review existing policies; develop and implement new policies compliant with legislative requirements
(OSHA, Fire Safety, Food Safety, City, State, Federal)
•Regular communication with all personnel
•Development of new policies when required.
•Review and amend employee manuals with any changes as required by law or otherwise
Recruitment and Selection
•Administer recruiting in a professional and timely manner ensuring all employment law, procedural
and budgetary parameters are met
•Devise and develop recruitment and selection processes, in-house or out sourced, to identify the most
suitable candidates
•Keep informed of trends in recruitment programs which include public sector (city, state, Federal)
prospective employee training and recruitment programs/incentives
Employee Development and Relations
•Design, develop and deliver effective training and orientation through appropriate media including
welcome packets, training events, workshops, coaching and manuals.
•Provide advice and support on employment issues and HR policies in a timely, objective and consistent
manner, in accordance with legislation and best practices
•Provide mediation between parties when dealing with discipline and grievance issues
•Provide an advisory service to members of staff, and managers in individual employment issues,
including confidential advice and support to all employees
Performance Management
•Manage performance from objective setting including progressive disciplinary action and dismissal
ensuring a consistent approach and best practices
•Design and develop documentation for reviewing performance during first stages of appointment, and
to implement annual reviews
Administration and Communication
•Produce monthly reports on HR issues
•Organize HR Department Meetings
•Maintain files and documentation for all HR aspects of the Company
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree
•7-10 years of relevant related experience in HR with proven success (specialty food, agriculture, natural
and organic CPG a plus)
•Prior recruitment experience required
•Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational development within a growing
organization
•Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
•Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask
•Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct reports and peers
•Excellent analytical, problem solving, negotiating, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
•High attention to detail
•Passionate commitment to company vision
•Appreciation to principles of sustainable agriculture and food
•Successful leadership in early-stage start-ups or other rapid growth environments
•Strong knowledge of MS Office
