A reasonable standard of proficiency is therefore required of all participants in Corporate Golf Events and they should be conversant with the Rules and Etiquette of Golf as prescribed by The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. Dress Code & Footwear Our Club has an appropriate dress code, and we ask that all our guests respect it. Footwear - Metal spikes are prohibited. Golf shoes must be worn on the course at all times. Ripple soles or thongs are not permitted. Course Consistent with the standards of the Club, smart attire is required at all times. Males are required to wear collared shirts (tucked in), long trousers or tailored shorts with short club logo socks or long socks pulled up. Female attire should be of an equivalent standard. Denim clothing, track tops, leisure suits, shirts with messages or cartoons are specifically not permitted. Keeping Up You are required to keep up with the group in front. If you can’t you must let the following group through. Lost Balls Watch your partner’s ball. If a ball is lost you should play your own shot before looking for the lost ball. If it is not immediately found call the next group through, then search for 5 minutes. At the Tee The player with the honour is to hit off before marking card – others mark cards while waiting to hit off. At the Green Buggies should be left on the side of the green nearest to the next tee. Never mark your card at the side of the green. How to avoid slow play 1. Walk quickly 2. One practice swing is enough. Do this where possible while waiting for others to play. 3. Select your club while waiting for others to play. Clubhouse Participants in Corporate Golf Events may wear neat casual dress or golfing attire, but no golf shoes. Golf shoes may be worn in the Sprig Bar. Any player not conforming to these dress requirements may be denied access to the Course & Clubhouse.
