Due to the nature of the groupings and “national” aspect of this event, no permanent numbers can be honored. If your first choice is no longer available on the drop-down list when you register, contact the Registrar (see number above) to attempt to work things out. Any necessary number changes must be verified by Tech prior to Tech Inspection stickers being issued. 11. Required Decals and Patches: Note: SARRC, ECR, and CCPS rules require that the appropriate series’ decals, stickers and/or patches be properly displayed on all cars and driver suits in these events. In addition, Grassroots Motorsports decals and any Group or Event designation sticker issued at Registration must be displayed on the car for all sessions. 12. Tech Inspection: Those with a current Tech & helmet stickers can bring their vehicle log book(s) only to pre-event Tech Inspection. Since this is a highly visible SCCA event with Victory Circle photo ops, all patches and logos for competing sanctioning bodies must be covered or removed from driving suits. Those without a valid annual tech must bring their vehicles to pre-event Tech. If you’ll need an annual tech this weekend please let the Chief of Tech (dab8_scca@yahoo.com) know beforehand so we can plan accordingly. 13. Transponders: The AMB timing system will be in use at this event. Each vehicle must have a working AMB transponder during all on-track sessions. AMB transponders may be purchased (rental units are also available) from SafeQuip, 1-800-247-4260. 14. First Qualifying Session: Due to the “seamless” nature of the qualifying sessions, cars will be gridded for their first qualifying session as they arrive at Grid. The next group should stage in the area prior to the false grid and enter the grid immediately after the preceding group enters the track. If a car’s time cannot be resolved due to incorrect entry information, inoperable transponder and/or incorrect/illegible car numbers, that car may not receive a time for that session. It is the driver’s responsibility to verify that entry information is accurate and that the correct operating transponder is installed on the race vehicle. 15. Second Qualifying Session: For the second qualifying session (where appropriate), cars will be gridded based on their fastest time in the first session. In all cases the BEST LAP from the two sessions will be used to set the grid for Saturday’s Championship races. 16. 120% Rule: A modified version of GCR Rule 6.4.2.E will be in effect for this event. Any driver/car combination not qualifying within a maximum of 120% of the track record in their class must obtain permission from the Chief Steward in order to race. In the case of unforeseen circumstances during qualifying, the Chief Steward can waive this rule for the entire event. 17. Oversubscription: The GCR limits the number of vehicles on track at Road Atlanta to 65. Our first choice is to alter the composition of the groups to eliminate oversubscription, but if that cannot be accomplished then qualifying sessions will be split at the discretion of the Chief Steward with all cars in a given class in the same session. The fastest cars per class will start the race with the number of starters per class directly proportional to the number of entries per class until the race group maximum is reached. Those not starting the race in an oversubscribed race will receive a refund of their entry fee less $100. Honda Performance Development 21st American Road Race of Champions October 31 – November 2, 2014 SARRC, ECR, CCPS Plus Feature Races Sanctioned by the Atlanta Region SCCA Sanction No: 14-R-2941-S, 14-OGR-3412-S, 14-OGR-3413-S, 14-OGR-3414-S, 14-E-2943-S 18. Grid: No fueling of cars on the grid. No tractors, electric carts, or any other vehicles used to tow racecars or transport parts or related equipment will be allowed access to the grid. Only the Chief of Grid or the Chief’s delegate can grant exceptions. 19. Pace Laps: For all races there will be at least one pace lap. A second pace lap (which does not count as a race lap) may be used to allow the field to form up correctly and/or warm tires adequately. 20. Starts: Split starts will be considered by the Chief Steward for all groups and will be announced at Friday’s drivers’ meeting. Separate pace cars will be used and the classes will start approximately 25 seconds apart. If there is a split start, each sub-group will receive a separate waving green flag to indicate a start. For all races, the pole car of each sub-group is responsible for maintaining the pace set by the Pace Car until the green is displayed. Any car jumping the start may receive a black flag. In the event of a wave off, the race clock will start and extra pace laps will count as race laps. 21. Race Length: Saturday’s Championship races will be 20 laps or 40 minutes in length, whichever comes first. The race clock will start when the leader crosses Start/Finish for each race and will continue to run regardless of flag conditions. In the event the leader does not complete 20 laps before 40 minutes expire, GCR procedures for timed races will apply. 22. Impound: At the conclusion of each of Saturday’s races the top finisher in each class will be given a flag and the opportunity to do a Victory Lap if track conditions and schedule allow. At the conclusion of all races the top four (4) finishers in each class must proceed directly to the Tech area for inspection. IF IN DOUBT, REPORT TO IMPOUND. All IT competitors must present factory shop manuals as part of the impound procedure. For Saturday’s races, manifolds, induction systems, and cylinder heads may be removed and examined for porting and polishing. Bore, stroke, and displacement will be calculated and carburetors will be checked for primary/secondary operation. At the discretion of the Chief Steward, additional inspection may be required. The Chief Steward may, at any time during the event, require all or some cars in each class to be impounded for inspection. The competitor shall be physically and financially responsible for performing any required disassembly/reassembly. At least the top three class winning HPD ARRC by GRM competitors will be inspected after their races. There will be no sealing of engines for those cars running in both the HPD ARRC by GRM Championship races and Sunday’s races. Do NOT run your engine in the Tech area. 23. Trophies and Podium Ceremonies: Specific details for podium ceremonies and pictures for your Run Group will be available at the track. For those that choose not to wait for Saturday evening’s awards party, trophies will be available at the Tech Shed when vehicles clear impound and the results are final. 24. CCPS: Car eligibility will conform to the series current rules as noted in section 3. SM-6 or SM-7 spec tires will be allowed for SM. Many 25. teams opt to run one driver per race, however rules allow for a driver swap allowing more drivers to participate and gain valuable seat time. There is no charge for additional drivers Flags: Signaling will be done with flags. Station 9, on the back straight, is the Black Flag station. Individual Black Flags and mechanical Black Flags will be displayed at this station and at Start/Finish. A “T” for transponder and/or “SOUND” board may be shown along with the car number and black flag. When possible, a waiving White Flag will be shown at Start/Finish to indicate the last lap has begun. During qualifying and races the Checkered Flag will be displayed only at Start/Finish. 26. Full Course Yellow: During any full course yellow (double yellow flags), the Operating Steward may dispatch the Safety (Pace) Car. 27. Sound Control: Sound Control per GCR is in effect at this event. All cars will be monitored on driver’s left approximately halfway between Turn 8 and Turn 9 and must not exceed 103 db. Readings will be posted at the base of the Tower (Media Center). 28. Restricted Radio Frequencies: SCCA - Atlanta radio channels are 460.625mhz, 465.625mhz, 464.825mhz, 464.675mhz, and 469.675mhz. Road Atlanta radio channels are 461.200mhz, 466.200mhz, 464.075mhz, 469.075mhz, 462.375 and 467.375mhz. Do not use these frequencies. 29. Emergency Lanes: Keep all lanes in the paddock open at all times. This is necessary so that emergency vehicles of all sorts can fulfill their duties. If you leave a vehicle blocking an emergency lane it will be removed without warning. 30. Medical Facility: If you are sick or injured, please check with the medical staff at the beginning of Pit Lane, drivers left on the outside of the track. They will treat you as needed and process necessary paperwork. SCCA insurance will not pay if you do not have the paperwork processed. 31. Property Damage: Road Atlanta and/or SCCA-Atlanta may hold drivers responsible for damages to property. Drivers continually cutting apexes in the grass may be penalized and held financially responsible for repairs. In addition to possibly being billed for property damage, drivers doing celebratory burn-outs, do-nuts, or similar activities are also subject to penalties for reckless driving per the GCR. Honda Performance Development 21st American Road Race of Champions October 31 – November 2, 2014 SARRC, ECR, CCPS Plus Feature Races Sanctioned by the Atlanta Region SCCA Sanction No: 14-R-2941-S, 14-OGR-3412-S, 14-OGR-3413-S, 14-OGR-3414-S, 14-E-2943-S 32. Participant, Crew, Guest Conduct and Intoxicants: Any participant using intoxicants before their race group or assigned duties are over each day is subject to disqualification from the event and ejection from the property. Use of illegal drugs is specifically prohibited at all times during the event. Anyone using illegal drugs is subject to disqualification and ejection from the property. The Contingency table is located in the Media Center at the base of the Tower. 34. Results: Results for qualifying and races are posted at the base of the Tower. Extra copies are available in the Media Center at the base of the Tower. During the event links to the Live T&S system will be available at www.AtlantaSCCA.org. Unofficial timing data will be available on MyLaps.com at the end of each day. If results copies are not available at the event, copies will be e-mailed by the Region to each entrant within 7 days of the conclusion of the event. Official results will also be posted at www.AtlantaSCCA.org after the event. 35. Parking: Cars in Groups 1,2 & 4 will use the Club Paddock (outside the track) while Groups 3, 5, 6, 7, & 9 will use the Pro Paddock (inside the 36. track). Grid, Pit Road, and Tech for all groups will also be located on the same side as their paddock assignment. Drivers choosing to park on the opposite side from their assigned group(s) are responsible for getting to the proper side for all sessions We ask that you work with us to accommodate the majority of your wishes regarding paddock parking. To that end, paddock parking personnel will assign and direct parking based on the size of your vehicles per instructions from the Paddock Chief using the following guidelines: • Single car set-ups will get a spot twenty (20) feet wide that is long enough to accommodate the tow vehicle and trailer. All awnings and support equipment must fit within those confines. This allows the maximum amount of parking in desired areas. • Multiple car teams and/or participants providing services to the Atlanta Region will be located to maximize their efficiency. • Since paddock spots with power are limited, the first priority is to provide electrical hook-ups to the maximum number of competitors. • We request that open trailers not actively involved in support of a race vehicle be removed from the main paddock areas. • Spectator and crew parking may be limited in the paddock areas. Ride sharing and race team cooperation are appreciated. • If you have special requests, please let the Paddock Chief know prior to arriving so s/he can make appropriate arrangements. • For safety reasons the county Fire Marshall requires that access lanes be kept open. Vehicles parked in no-parking areas will be towed. Pavement and Wastes: Per Road Atlanta policy: Do not drive stakes into the pavement. Always use wood blocks or metal plates to prevent pavement damage from jacks and jack stands. Do not spill oil, coolant, or fuel onto pavement or ground. Receptacles for waste oil and for coolant are available in the paddock. Please make provision for removing from the premises any used tires, fuel, brake fluid, solvents, hazardous waste products, and batteries. If you do have an accidental spill, please call for the Event Chairman. 37. Restricted Hours: Hall County ordinance prohibits running race engines between 8:00 PM and 7:45 AM. It also prohibits running race engines during the hours from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Sundays. Road Atlanta’s gates will be locked at 8:00 PM on the last day of the event. Please be off the premises by that time. 38. Other Restrictions: Per Road Atlanta policy: There is a strict 5 MPH speed limit on all personal ATVs, bicycles, MoPeds, or other personal transportation devices at all times. Pets are allowed only in the paddock area and must be leashed at all times when not inside a vehicle. No glass containers are allowed on the property. Skateboards, passenger-carrying wagons and skates are prohibited in the paddock, pit and grid areas. The operation of any vehicle (including bicycles) by persons not holding a valid State Operator’s Permit is prohibited. Road Atlanta policies that may not be known at the writing of these Supplementary Regulations will supersede any rules stated here. 39. Driver Information: If you have questions about anything, “Rumor Control” is located at the Contingency table in the Media Center at the base of the Tower. The personnel there may not know all the answers, but they will be able to direct you to those that do. 40. Driver Advocate: Because of the high-profile nature of this event, a team of Driver Advocates will be available to assist drivers with proper procedures regarding protests and appeals. The Driver Advocate(s) will be located in the vicinity of Impound. 41. Racing Fuel: Road Atlanta has automatic (credit card) pumps for both unleaded (98 octane) and leaded (110 & 112 octane) Sunoco racing gas. There ARE alternate sources of racing fuel in the vicinity. The objective is to provide a fun race in a different format with a monetary payout to competing drivers. This will be a Pro race where $75 of the entry fee will be allocated for driver payout. Everyone gets one chance by entering and turning a wheel in the race. Top finishers get extra chance at the drawing in the following allocation: The field will be limited to 50 cars, first come first serve. 1. Pursuit Race Format: The Luck of the Draw race will be run as a Pursuit Race. This basically means the following format. a. b. Starting positions based on fastest times from prior day’s races. Slowest cars start first with gaps determined by delta of fastest times multiplied by the number of laps in the race. (eg: 2 second difference in lap time X 10 laps next car starts 20 seconds later and so on) c. Start from grid one car at a time with calculated gaps. d. Winner is first car to complete 10 laps and so on. Entry Deadline: In order to set the grid, Luck of the Draw participants must register by 12:00 pm (Noon) Saturday November 2. 2. 3. Car Eligibility: This event is open to all closed wheeled vehicles in Run Groups 1, 2, 4, and 6 conforming to the current GCR for 4. regional racing, SEDIV regional racing, and/or Atlanta Region regional racing rules. SEDIV regional racing rules for IT7, SM, and SPU are available at www.SEDIVRacing.org. Current rules for ITT, and ITX are available at http://www.atlantascca.com and at Registration. Carolina Cup Pro Series (CCPS) eligible cars can be found at http://www.carolinacupproseries.com/services.html . In order to be eligible for payout the car also must have entered and ran in prior days events or registered and run in the ECR/CCPS qualifying session Sunday morning. Grid: This will be a Pursuit Race where cars will start in single file from the grid ordered inversely by fastest lap times from prior days races. If the car has not run in earlier races, and registered to run in the ECR times lap times will be determined by the Sunday morning ECR/CCPS qualifying session. Start positions will be assigned in reverse order to lap times. (i.e. the fastest cars will be at the back of the grid and slowest at the front of the line). 5. Start: The starter will be at the track entrance from the grid. Cars should proceed slowly to the start line and start only when given the green flag by the starter. Gaps between cars will be determined by the difference in fastest lap times multiplied by the number of laps in the race (.5 second difference times 10 laps equal 5 second gap). Any car observed jumping the start may receive a black flag and a drive through penalty. In the case where lap times are equal or less than .1 seconds, starting position will be determined by track records with the faster class going behind the slower class. All groups will start from the grid on the Club side of the track. 6. 7. 8. 9. Race Length: The race will be 10 laps or 20 minutes in length, whichever comes first.
