INSTRUCTIONS FOR A SHIPPER WHO WANTS TO TRANSPORT
DANGEROUS GOODS IN INTERNATIONAL COMBINED TRANSPORTS
Check classification details beforehand:
Sea Transport according to IMDG-Code:

To be informed on Dangerous Goods –declaration:
o Marks and numbers,Packaging types,Quantities
o UN-Number
o Proper Shipping Name, PSN
 Technical name (Chemical name) for N.O.S.-goods with special
provision 274 mentioned in goods list of IMDG-code
o Hazard Class and possible Subrisk/-s
o Packing Group I, II or III ,when applicable
o Flashpoint,FLP, for class 3 flammable liquids , or if flammability is subrisk (and
flashpoint is exactly or under +60 C )
o Marine Pollutant, or if goods are Environmentally Hazardous
o Note also:
 Use English in all documentation !
 Control and Emergency temperature needed for some goods of
classes 4.1 and 5.2 requiring temperature control !
 Net Weight Explosive needed for class 1 –goods !
 Special details needed for class 7-goods !
 Remember to inform if HAZARDOUS WASTE !
 Remember to inform if LIMITED QUANTITY !
 Remember to inform if Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities !
 Remember to inform if EMPTY UNCLEANED PACKAGES WITH
RESIDUES !
 Remember to inform if packed in SALVAGE PACKAGINGS !
Road Transport according to ADR-agreement :

To be informed on CMR-waybill in International Road Transport in Europe:
o UN-Number
o Proper Shipping Name in one of sending country’s official language and on
one ADR-language (=English,German or French)
 Technical name (Chemical name) for N.O.S.-goods with special
provision 274 mentioned in goods list of ADR
o Hazard Class and possible Subrisk/-s, for class 1 also classification
code,-s
o Packing Group I, II or III ,when applicable
o

Note:if you are applying to some special instructions or agreements,they also need to be
informed according to instructions on waybill ! (Especially note ‘Dangerous Goods in
Excepted Quantities’ + number of packages )
Note: DG-quantities must be told by UN-number
Note: tunnel restriction code if transported via tunnel/-s

= United Nations
ADR = European Agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by
Road
IATA-DGR = International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations
N.O.S. = Not Otherwise Specified
1.2 Make sure you pack and mark the packagings according to used method of transport !


use only UN-approved packings !
use correct marking labels and note also special markings and handling signs and
Marine Pollutant in sea transports !
1.3 Deliver correct Transport Documents to Schenker Oy well beforehand !

Dangerous Goods –declaration according to requirements of used method of transport
o Dangerous Goods Declaration for sea transport containing details required
according to IMDG Code
o Waybill (national or CMR) with classification markings for Road transport
1.4 Make Transport Booking in time !
Remember that International Transport cannot happen until all needed documents are handed
over to Schenker Oy !
