Dermoscopy for Beginners in association with the PCDS Date Thursday 11 December 2014 Time 10.00-16:00 Venue Rowley Mile Conference Centre Newmarket Suffolk CB8 0TF Fees RCGP Member AiTs/Nurses Non Member £125 £100 £140 Book online today at www.rcgp.org.uk/courses This course is aimed at GPs and VTS registrars primarily but would also be appropriate for specialist nurses involved in skin care. Indeed anyone involved in examining and advising patients about their skin lesions would benefit. It is our belief that every practice should possess a dermatoscope and have at least one doctor adequately trained to safely use it. The main role of dermoscopy in Primary Care is to help identify benign lesions. The majority of seborrhoeic keratoses, angioma, dermatofibroma and blue naevi can be readily identified with a dermatoscope. This can help reduce referrals / unnecessary skin surgery As an introductory course it is suitable for those with little or no previous knowledge as well as those for whom the early stages require reinforcement and reassurance. It might be helpful to have a look at the PCDS website for some pre-course study http://www.pcds.org.uk PROGRAMME: 9.45am Registration and Coffee 10.00am Welcome and Introduction 10.05am Skin Lesions—Clinical diagnosis & limitations of dermoscopy 10.45am Dermoscopy Equipment 11.05am Coffee 11.30am Dermoscopy—The essentials - Overview of dermoscopic structures (including vascular features) - Dermoscopic features of common Benign lesions, including SK, angioma, dermatofibroma 12.10pm Dermoscopic features of benign Melanocytic naevi 12.40pm Lunch 1.30pm Dermoscopic features of skin cancer - Basal cell carcinoma - Melanoma 2.30pm Dermoscopy of special sites (face, palms & soles) - an introduction 3.00pm Tea 3.15pm Interactive case discussion 3.40pm Top ten tips — a summary.
