School Donations: Building A Better Foundation
The school has established two tax deductible funds to enable parents, relatives and friends the opportunity to make donations.
The Building Fund has provided financial support to complete our school hall renovations, install reverse cycle air-conditioning units in every
classroom and construct classroom computer centres. During the next three years, the Building Fund will be used to improve playground facilities.
The Library Fund has provided reading materials for guided reading, home reading and the Reading Eggs technology program.
This fund will continue to expand reading resources and technology for literacy learning.
You can visit our website to download and complete a donor card. Your support is sincerely appreciated.

Be Responsible – We Stay in Bounds
This skill reinforces the need to be in bounds in our school. It involves
discussions and identification of appropriate areas to be in for safety and
supervision. You may like to reinforce this skill when children visit other places,
such as near roads, parks, etc as a family or with friends. Thank you for your
ongoing support. Please remember that feedback is always welcomed.

Book covering for the Library
There will be a morning of book covering in the Library on Friday 31st October.
We will be starting at 8:30am and will finish around 11am. If you think you
might have time to come and help get these new resources covered and on
the shelf it would be greatly appreciated. Come and join our friendly team.
BOOK FAIR 2014
WHAT: Our annual pop-up book shop will be operating in the BBPS Library.
WHEN: Week 6 – To make “Wish Lists” in class library lessons
Week 7 – Tuesday 18 November. This is the only day to purchase
Book Fair will operate on this day 8.15am – 4.15pm
HOW: All students will bring home a ‘Wish List’ in Week 6. This is only a ‘wish’
on their part. No family/parent or student is under any obligation to purchase.
Students discuss their ‘wish list’ with their family and then, if permitted, they
bring their wish list and money on Tuesday 18th November between 8.15am
and 4:15pm ONLY to purchase their items. Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 will be
assisted on the day to find and purchase their books. Back orders can be
made for most books if already sold out. These are delivered within a few
weeks.
WHY: Reading and books have a positive and strong impact on a child’s
educational achievement. You may also wish to purchase for Christmas
presents. Our school receives commission on book sales for the day. This
commission comes in the form of books which we get to choose from
scholastic book lists up to the value of the commission. By purchasing from the
Fair you are supporting the school’s library and helping to keep our stock up to
date with wonderful new titles.
Athletics
Congratulations to the 14 students who attended the
PSSA State Athletics Carnival in Sydney last week with
some outstanding results. Special congratulations to
Pahna Doung and Myles Gibson who both brought
home a gold medal. Pahna came first in the long jump,
while Myles not only came first in the 800m AWD, but
3rd in the discus.
Some of BBPS State Athletics Representatives
WHO: All students/parents and community members are welcome to be part
of this event. You can view books in Week 6 (wish list week) then purchase
wanted items on Tuesday 18th November.
A flyer giving a small list of possible purchases will accompany the week 6
newsletter
PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Payments can be made by cash, by cheque (made out to Byron Bay Public
School), Eftpos or in advance prior to the Fair by either online or by phone
options. If you use the online option for payment you must send in the payment
receipt number and order form. This will enable us to supply your chosen book
at the fair or organise a backorder.
Thank you and hope you will visit the Fair and support the Byron Bay Public
School Library.

Byron Big Hall Musical presents ‘Mary Poppins’
On Friday 28 November we are having a fantastic night at the school. The
choirs will be performing, along with some students from the school band. We
will then be watching Mary Poppins in the school hall. It's such a great
experience for the kids to bring their doonas and pillows and lie back and
watch a good old fashioned musical with their friends. Our Crescendo Café will
be available or BYO picnic. Come and join in the family fun. Tickets on sale
Monday mornings, or on the night, $5 each or $20 per family. Gates open 5pm.
