should therefore be prepared for fall weather—bring your

You should plan to be there no later than 7 PM. Once you

form on page 7. If you “just show up” you may not be allowed to participate or at the very least, go hungry
for the weekend. And once you are on the base, you are a long way from the civilized world of fast food,
convenience stores and cell phones!. Don’t forget to bring with you a copy of your Class 2 medical form (or
equivalent) from this year . This induction weekend at MHA is certainly not to be missed.
The Fall Induction and Fellowship Weekend is on the 3rd weekend in October at Camp Roosevelt. A lot of
work needs to be done to put the camp to bed before winter sets in. The foliage will be great and the nights
cool and crisp, so plan accordingly. To help the lodge leadership plan for the weekend, it is advisable that
you pre-register for this weekend as well. Don’t forget that if you pre-register before the early bird deadlines
of either weekend you can save $7.00. If you volunteer to serve as an Elangomat for either weekend, you
can register for the entire weekend for FREE! More importantly, you will be able to serve as a shining
example to your clan of new inductees of what it means to serve cheerfully with your fellow brothers. Of
course, both weekends will be opportunities for qualified Ordeal members to seal their membership in the
OA by committing themselves as Brotherhood members of Pamola Lodge.
During these two induction/fellowship weekends, members will also be asked to commit themselves to
service to Pamola Lodge by running for the offices of Lodge Chief, Vice-Chief, Vice-Chief of
Communications, Vice-Chief of Finance, and the Chapter Chiefs. More about this on page 2….

Take a look at the next two pages - the Pamola Lodge leadership for
the year 2014. You will notice now a few vacancies in the youth
roster. But as of January 1st, 2015, ALL the youth officer positions
will be VACANT, unless the youth of the Lodge make the
commitment over the next two months to serve their fellow Scouts
and fellow Arrowmen of the Lodge. This is the time for the youth
members of the Lodge to step up, sacrifice some of their valuable
time and energy, and run for the offices of Lodge Chief, Vice Chief,
Vice Chief of Communications, Vice-Chief of Finance and the
Chapter Chief of their chapter. It is also the time for those members
under 21 years of age to get involved in the ceremonies teams,
communication teams, and the chapter election teams. If you don’t
answer the call to serve, no one will be running Pamola Lodge and
we, the Pamola Lodge of the Katahdin Area Council will cease to
exist.
At the Summer Induction/Fellowship Weekend at MHA in
September, candidates should be prepared to announce their desire to run for office during the General Lodge meeting.
Elections will take place at the Fall Induction/Fellowship Weekend at Camp Roosevelt in October during the General
Lodge meeting. Training for the newly elected leaders will take place in November.
The Obligation

and will endeavor, so far as in my power lies, to be unselfish in service and devotion to the welfare of others.

Our National Centennial Experience
ArrowTour is one of three programs that comprise a year-long
celebration of the Order of the Arrow’s centennial anniversary. In
the summer of 2015, four delegations of youth Arrowmen (one in
each region) will travel to council camps and Scouting events across
our great country to bring our national OA centennial experience to
Scouts, Arrowmen, and communities throughout the country.
ArrowTour will provide opportunities to reflect, connect, and discover the Order's Centuries of Service, both past and
future. The Order of the Arrow is excited to partner with councils to provide this program accessory at Boy Scout summer
camps and Scouting events.

THE NATIONAL ORDER OF THE ARROW
CONFERENCE, 2015
WHAT IS NOAC?
The National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) is the premier
event of the Order of the Arrow, and is Scouting's second-largest national event. Over 10,000 Arrowmen from across our
nation gather for an inspirational and unforgettable experience full of fellowship, training, adventure, and fun!
During NOAC, Arrowmen will participate in a six-day conference which includes top notch training sessions, cool
recreational opportunities, evening shows full of theatrics and special effects, and exciting programs.
The 2015 NOAC will be held from August 3-8, 2015 at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, and will
celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. The conference fee is $475 and includes housing, food, and
program activities. This conference fee does not include travel costs. Arrowmen can travel to NOAC with a contingent
from their lodge, or as a staff member supporting the thousands of Arrowmen attending in the conference.

Arrowmen attending the 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference will get a once in a lifetime souvenir, a special
edition red sash. These sashes will differ from those currently worn in that the colors will be reversed, with a white arrow
emblazoned on a red sash. The rarity of the sash is noteworthy, as only those present at NOAC 2015 will receive them. Any
extras produced will not be sold.

High Adventure Opportunities
with the Order of the Arrow
Philmont, Northern Tier, Sea Base, The Summit. These are the four national BSA High
Adventure Bases, and they are all difficult to get to. The waiting list at Philmont for
a crew on a regular trek is generally 2 years long, and it’s similar at the others.
However, with the Order of the Arrow you have the opportunity to have a unique
experience at each one for a fraction of the standard price. Because the Order of
the Arrow is a service organization, your experience will include some service such
as trail building and conservation work, then you’ll head out on the outdoor adventure
of a lifetime.
On Philmont’s OA Trail Crew, in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, you’ll spend five days
improving trails and fighting invasive species, then your crew will design their own five day trek in the ranch’s
beautiful backcountry. On Sea Base’s OA Ocean Adventure you’ll spend five days supporting
the Crane Point Nature Center in preserving the ecosystem of the Florida Keys, helping
develop the Florida Keys Heritage Trail, or assisting in removing invasive species from Big
Munson Island, all while camped at Big Munson Island and Crane Point. You’ll then move
onto a 40 foot sailing yacht and spend four days at sea relaxing, trolling for game fish, and
snorkeling in the pristine reefs of the Florida Keys. At Northern Tier, in the Boundary Waters
between the United States and Canada, you’ll help restore portage trails in the Quetico
Wilderness for its millions of users each year, then take a 90 mile canoe trek from Atikokan, Ontario to Ely,
Minnesota. Finally, at the Summit, you’ll spend four days improving trails in the area, and then four days whitewater
kayaking and rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, and participating in other Summit activities.
Being a Brother in the Order of the Arrow affords you opportunities not available to anyone else in the world, and ways to experience
national high adventure in a completely new light. I urge you to consider taking advantage of these programs. I guarantee that each and
every one will be the experience of a lifetime.
