I, ___________________________________________(FULL NAME) wish to nominate for the Bindoon Primary School
Board. Please add a few sentences about yourself, including what you believe you can contribute to the School Board:
Dear Parents/Carers
Hairy Tale Rock
Everyone is looking forward to the stage production of Hairy Tale Rock at the Bindoon Town
Hall both this afternoon and this evening. You will be highly entertained by the lively
performances by students! Students and school staff have put in many hours in preparation
for this special event. There are still a few seats available for this evening’s performance
which begins at 6:30pm.
Important Message: Parent Nominations for School Board by Friday 7 November.
Nominations are now called for four parent representatives to be on the Bindoon Primary
School Board as part of the transition to becoming an Independent Public School. The School
Board will consist of four parent representatives and three staff representatives (including the
principal). Once the parent and staff representatives have been appointed, the Board will
nominate two further community representatives. This means there will be nine Board
members altogether.
If more than four parents nominate for the school Board, elections will be conducted. In the
first year, half the school Board will be nominated for one year and half for two years. This will
allow for continuity. The two parent representatives who receive the most votes will be
offered the two year appointment, or the two year term will be decided by consensus if a vote
is not necessary.
Nominations close on Friday 7 November. Parents can self-nominate, or be nominated by
others. If you nominate another person please ensure you have their permission to do so. If
you wish to nominate please complete the form which can be found elsewhere in this
newsletter and return to the front office or email to Bindoon.PS@education.wa.edu.au.
Please add a few sentences saying what you could contribute as a member of the School
Board. What you say will be published in the next newsletter if a vote is required.
Once the Board is established, the full Terms of Reference will be established. This is an
opportunity for parents to influence the general direction of Bindoon Primary School. There
will be an induction process for Board members and one hour Board meetings twice each
term.
If you wish to have more information please call in to see me, or telephone 9576 1097.
School Council
Bindoon Primary School wishes to acknowledge the contributions by the parent
representatives on the Bindoon Primary School Council over the last two years. These
parents are Gordon Houston (School Council Chair), Gretchen Brocklehurst, Donelle Martin
and Renee Cover. The school also sends it’s sincere thanks to Councillor Sandra Clarke who
has attended School Council meetings over the last two years and been very supportive of the
school.

School Community Survey
A school community survey of parents, students and staff will be undertaken from Monday 3 November until Friday 21
November. The purpose of the survey is to find out community perceptions of the school, and to find out where the school
is doing well and where the school needs to improve. It is preferable that you complete the survey on-line at
http://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/Bindoon or you can complete a paper version. The survey will be open on-line from
Monday 3 November. An email with the survey link attached will be sent to those who have provided an email address to
the school. Please find attached a copy of the survey with this newsletter.
All public schools in Western Australia are mandated to complete this school community survey before the completion of
2014. The School Board will analyse the survey results and make necessary adjustments to the school’s directions. The
results will be seen on the My Schools web site next year. We encourage all parents to complete the survey and thank
you in anticipation.
Leadership Camp – 24 and 25 October
Many thanks to the School Chaplain, Doug McGhee, teachers Debra Whitely and Taryn Fletcher for supervising the
Leadership Camp for our student leaders—Student Councillors, Choir Captains, Faction Captains and Vice Captains.
The twenty one students enjoyed a variety of team building activities at school and at the camp-over at Wannamal.
School Fees
A reminder to parents/carers that school fees are now overdue. So far, the school has received 37% of expected fees .
The school is reliant on these important funds to help cover the costs of educating your children.
Internet Use at Home
It has been reported to the school that some students are engaging in inappropriate internet use with social media at
home. The school wishes to remind parents to be vigilant about how their children use the internet. Please ensure your
children are using the internet in a safe way.
Pin up and White Boards
Bindoon Primary School has a number of used white boards and pin up boards for sale. Please come to the front office if
you wish to view the items; or make an offer if you are interested in purchasing one of these items.
School Development Day
A reminder that students are not to attend school on Monday 17 November as it is a School Development Day. School
staff will be analysing student academic achievement data and beginning to plan for 2015 and beyond.
Safety Using Playground Equipment After School
A reminder to parents whose children use playground equipment after school hours, that you are responsible for the
safety of your children and need to supervise them while on the playground equipment.
DENTAL VAN: The dental van is currently at Bindoon Primary School. If your child has
been issued with an enrolment form, could you please tick either yes or no, complete the
form and medical history if yes, sign and return to the School Office as soon as
possible.
