Deadline: April 1, 2015
Applicant must:
 Be a high school senior or current full-time college student that will attend college in the 20152016 school year
 Be studying an Ag-related field
 Plan to attend a two-year or four-year college or university
 Have a 2.5 or higher grade point average
 Demonstrate participation and leadership in school and community activities
 Enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours
Students who receive a full-ride scholarship will not be eligible for the AgriLegacy Scholarship, and it will be
awarded to another student.

American Essay Contest
Deadline: December 1, 2014
Sponsored by The Fleet Reserve Association, Ozark Empire Branch 316
Open to students in grades 7th – 12th
Certificates will be issued to all entries. Plaques and money orders will be awarded to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
winners. All 1st place winners in each grade group will be submitted to the NCRegional level, consisting of 15
states for grading. 12th grade winner at the regional level receives a $1,000 scholarship and is submitted to the
national level for grading.

American Legion 2015 Scholarship Programs
Basic Criteria for Scholarship Awards
The student must be a resident of Missouri. Applicants must be under the age of 21, unmarried and a
descendant of a veteran with at least ninety days active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force,
Marines or Coast Guard, who received an Honorable Discharge for such service. A photocopy of the
veteran’s DD214, discharge or separation notice must accompany the scholarship application. Any
additional scholarship requirements are on individual scholarship applications.
Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund - Two awards of $1,000 each are given each year. One award is given to a
boy who has attended a full session of The American Legion Boys State of Missouri or a full session of the
Department’s Cadet Patrol Academy. The second award is given to a girl who has attended a full session of The
American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State program or a full session of the Department’s Cadet Patrol Academy.
M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund - Currently one $750 award is given for two
successive semesters, and may, by application, be extended for two additional successive semesters. This award
is available to a Missouri boy or girl training to be a Registered Nurse, and may be used in their freshman or
subsequent college years. The student must have graduated in the top forty percent of their high school class or
have a “C” or equivalent standing from their last college or university semester. Scholarships are awarded for
one year, payable $375 per semester.
Joseph J. Frank Scholarship – Five awards of $500.00 are given annually to individuals who are descendants
of a veteran. Applicant must have attended a full session of The American Legion Boys State or The American
legion Auxiliary Girls State program. Applicants must be unmarried, under the age of 21, a current resident of
the state of Missouri and must use the scholarship as a full time student in an accredited college or university.
Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship – Two awards of $500.00 are given annually in memory of the first
Missourian to serve as National Commander of The American Legion. Eligible are individuals who are
currently members of The American legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or The Sons of The American
Legion, or a descendant* of a member of any thereof. Applicants must be unmarried, a resident of Missouri,
under the age of 21, and must use the scholarship as a full-time student in an accredited college or university.
Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship – Two $500.00 awards are given annually to a student planning on
obtaining a degree in education, in honor of this Past National Executive Committeeman from Missouri. To be
eligible, individuals must: (1) be a descendant* of a veteran who served 90 or more days of active duty in the
armed forces and having an honorable discharge; (2) be a Missouri resident; (3) use the award as a full-time
student at an accredited college or university; (4) provide a copy of the discharge certificate for the veteran on
whose the application is made; and (5) submit an essay of 500 words or less on the subject: “In your opinion,
what was the most significant world event of 2013/2014?”

American Legion Scholarships-continued:
Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship – One $500 award will be awarded, annually. (1) Each school in
the State of Missouri many nominate ONE student to be considered for the award. (2) The nominee will be
selected on athletic, scholastic and leadership abilities. The nominee should be deeply involved in community
and school activities. (3) Must use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Arkansas Alumni Association Scholarship

John T Belcher Scholarship
Application Date: October 15, 2014 – December 15, 2014
Each year the MSBA future Builders Foundation awards seventeen scholarships to Missouri high school
seniors. One scholarship winner is selected from each of the seventeen MSBA –designated regions of the state.
Those seventeen winners then compete for one larger scholarship. The sixteen regional winners are awarded
$750 scholarships and the statewide winner is awarded $1750.
The application deadline for the scholarship is December 15, 2014. Applicants are judged on the basis of
academic performance, extracurricular activities, and the quality of an essay reviewing the Governance,
Leadership and Accountability section of the Vision for Missouri Public Education report. Visit

Central Methodist University
Will be hosting their first semi-annual Eagle Select Scholarship Competition on Thursday, November 20th
At 10:00 a.m. at their Fayette campus. High school seniors who meet the academic requirements of a 23 Act
and a 3.0 cumulative GPA are invited to attend. This selective scholarship competition gives students the
opportunity to compete for scholarships that range up to full tuition, renewable for four years. Students must
have submitted a complete application for admission prior to attending.

Mediacom Communications
For the 2014-2015 school year, Mediacom Communications is again offering 60 $1,000 non-renewable
scholarships through its World Class Scholarship Program to senior high school students in areas of the 21
states where it provides services for cable, internet and telephone.
While it is not required that the student be a Mediacom customer, applicants must live in the areas serviced by
Mediacom. A list of all towns served is included on the application, which is available on the web at

All completed scholarship applications must include an essay on leadership, the applicant’s school transcript
and 2 filled out recommendation forms. The deadline for applicants is February 16, 2015. For more

The Show-Me Chapter offers a $2000 scholarship for a high school senior, or undergraduate, planning to major

Springfield Elks Lodge No 409’s Teenager of the Semester
Recognizing outstanding young men and women for their achievements in school and community service.
Springfield Elks Lodge would like to honor two high school seniors, each semester (one female and one male)
as “Teenager of the Semester”. Winners will be presented with a certificate and scholarship at their Youth
Activities Banquet in May 2015 and the opportunity to be selected as “Teenager of the Year”. Student must be

Soroptimist Club of Springfield-Violet Richardson Award
Applications must be postmarked on or before December 1, 2014
The Violet Richardson Award is presented each year to a girl within the age range of 14 thru 17 who has
demonstrated leadership and initiative in identifying a problem in her community or the world and has worked
hard to address the problem.
The young woman who receives the Violet Richardson Award is honored at a Soroptimist Dinner Meeting and
is presented a check for $250 to her charity (the organization that she is identified with) as well as a $250 check
for herself.
