The team that can rush most effectively to balance the passing attack will have an upper hand in this game. * Closely Matched: The last three games between Ithaca and St. John Fisher have been decided by a total of 10 points. Ithaca won seven of the first eight meetings between the teams, before Fisher won seven straight from 2006-12. Ithaca won 25-22 in 2013. NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS: Ithaca and St. John Fisher are both ranked in the first NCAA Regional Rankings for the 2014 season. Head Coach Mike Welch In his 21st season as Ithaca’s head coach, Mike Welch (Ithaca ’73) has posted a 159-65 (.711) record, including a regularseason mark of 146-55 (.724). He entered the 2014 season 15th all-time among Division III coaches in winning percentage. A running back who earned two letters while playing for coach Jim Butterfield, Welch succeeded his former coach after 10 years as an assistant at his alma mater. The Team of the Week honors selected players from each position on the field from nominees across all of Division III football. Barbieri recorded two sacks and a forced fumble, along with seven total tackles against the Golden Eagles. Ithaca’s defense limited Brockport to 234 total yards of offense, 204 yards less than their season average. NATIONAL POLLS: Ithaca is not currently ranked in either national poll, but did receive mention from voters in each ranking.
