Manufactured
using a unique
process that
maximises nutrient
preservation.
New MAXX licks are the latest innovation from Rumenco in
ruminant supplement feeds. MAXX licks are manufactured
using a unique process that maximises nutrient preservation.
The molasses dehydration used in this process is very rapid.
This results in less destruction of sugar energy, so that
more digestible energy is available to your stock for better
performance. The new process also produces consistently
hardened licks that give excellent control of free-access
intakes.
New MAXX licks contain a blend of cane molasses, vegetable
oil, proteins, minerals and vitamins. They are formulated to
provide nutritional supplementation of pasture and forage
based rations for dairy animals, beef stock and ewes and
lambs.
The new
MAXX range
of licks are
available in
25kg and
100kg formats
Highly Palatable
The very high molasses content and inclusion of vegetable oil means palatability and
acceptance is excellent. This gives uniformity of intake, without over-consumption. Stock
cannot bite these licks, but their licking action helps moisten the surface to release a
controlled amount of product that limits intake. The licking action also helps release more
saliva that buffers the highly concentrated levels of sugar and energy, giving a synchronised
nutrient flow to the rumen.
Fully Formulated
Pastures and forages are often missing or deficient in essential nutrients that limit stock
performance, health and fertility. MAXX licks are formulated to complement available forage
nutrients in order to give a balanced diet for ruminant stock. Their rich nutrient content
provides rumen degradable and undegradable protein sources, fermentable and by-pass
energy, major minerals, trace elements and vitamins. The little and often intake of MAXX licks
helps to improve rumen stability, resulting in higher intake and digestibility of roughages.
Well Researched
Rumenco has a wealth of trial data and experience of supplementing ruminant livestock with
licks. MAXX licks have been thoroughly tested on farms in 55 separate studies prior to their
launch.
The trials showed:
• Uniform control of intakes compared with competitor products
• Suitable for all classes of stock over 12 weeks of age at grass or indoors
• Exceptional weather resistance, no waste and very economical
Offer MAXX Energy licks to breeding sheep to help manage body condition
if required and to flush ewes before tupping. Introduce MAXX Energy 2
weeks pre-tupping for 8 weeks, by which time fertilised eggs should be
safely implanted. Re-introduce licks in mid to late pregnancy where grazing
conditions are poor or in bad weather, but use Lifeline from 6 weeks prelambing. MAXX Energy is also recommended for after lambing and for
weaned lambs when grass quality is poor or provides less than 5cm sward
height.
Typical intakes:
• 1x25kg MAXX Energy lick will supplement 35 ewes for up to 11 days
• 1x100kg MAXX Energy tub will supplement 125 ewes for up to 12 days
• 1x25kg MAXX Energy lick will supplement 25 lambs for up to 33 days
Benefits:
• The extra high energy level in MAXX Energy helps to offset declining grass
digestibility during the grazing season and so helps to maintain performance
• High levels of trace elements and vitamin E are included to help make good
potential deficiencies in grass and forages
• Well-spaced lick placement encourages
wider grazing utilisation
Oil 14%, Protein 12%, PE of Urea 5%, ME 16
MJ/kg DM, Sugar 35%, Cobalt 20 mg/kg,
Selenium 10 mg/kg, Vitamin E 600 mg/kg
Offer MAXX Original licks to beef cattle and dairy young stock at pasture
or indoors where extra performance is the aim and to help keep breeding
animals on target. Suitable for all types of forage and can be safely fed in
mixed grazing situations with sheep.
Typical intakes:
• 1x25kg MAXX Original lick will supplement 20 cattle for 11 days
• 1x100kg MAXX Original tub will supplement 70 cattle for 12 days
Benefits:
• Improves performance from pasture and forage
• Saves time and labour involved with daily hand-feeding of stock
• Provides minerals and vitamins reducing the need for other supplements
Oil 6%, Protein 12.5%, PE of Urea 8.6%, ME 12 MJ/kg DM, Sugar 38%, Magnesium 5%,
Cobalt 20 mg/kg, Selenium 10 mg/kg, Vitamin E 300 mg/kg
Offer MAXX Cattle Mag licks to dairy and suckler cows pre-turnout for 6
weeks in spring and again in the autumn to supply extra magnesium. For the
rest of the grazing season offer MAXX Original and during the housed period.
Do not feed to sheep.
Typical intakes:
• 1x25kg Maxx Cattle Mag will supplement 15 cows for up to 8 days
• 1x100kg Maxx Cattle Mag will supplement 15 cows for up to 32 days
Benefits:
• Palatable and highly available magnesium source to aid in the prevention of grass
staggers
• Supplies essential trace elements to help balance
Oil 2.5%, Protein 3.5%, ME 10 MJ/kg DM, Sugar 35%, Magnesium 10.5%, Copper 800
mg/kg, Cobalt 40 mg/kg, Selenium 20 mg/kg, Vitamin E 300 mg/kg
ALSO AVAILABLE WITH
MAXX Cattle Booster is the recommended feed supplement for dairy and
beef cattle on high forage rations and at grass. It can be fed to all types of
cattle to support higher performance resulting from increased intakes and
digestibility of forage based rations. Do not feed to sheep.
The high sugar content means that palatability and acceptance is excellent, even with stock
not used to lick feeding. This gives uniformity of intakes without over-consumption. The
hardness of the block controls intake, but when stock lick the surface it moistens to release
a controlled amount of supplement. This is important and encourages an optimum flow of
saliva, through the licking action, plus sugar energy, degradable and by-pass proteins to the
rumen micro-organisms for improved feed use efficiency.
Grazing and forages are often deficient in minerals, trace elements and vitamins. MAXX Cattle
Booster is fully fortified with major minerals (including salt), trace elements (including copper)
and vitamins to support those already provided by the basal forage and make good any
shortfalls.
MAXX Cattle Booster is also available with XPC. This natural fermented yeast culture has been
independently proven to support higher dry matter intakes and increased daily liveweight
gains in Cattle, resulting in better financial performance.
Typical intakes:
1 x 25kg lick will supplement 20 cattle for
approximately 10 days
1 x 100kg lick will supplement 20 cattle for
approximately 40 days
Oil 6%, Protein 14%, PE of urea 8.7%, ME 12.0
MJ/kg DM, Sugar 38%, Calcium 4%, Phosphorus
3%, Magnesium 1%, Sodium 1%, Cobalt 20mg/
kg, Selenium 10mg/kg, Copper 500mg/kg and
Vitamin E 300iu/kg.
Feeding Guide
•
Offer MAXX licks on a free-access basis
with ad lib forage or grazing
•
When grazing is in short supply provide
additional supplementary forage
•
Spread licks over grazing area to
encourage wider foraging
•
Place licks away from the water supply,
this is especially important indoors
•
Due to a period of feed acclimatisation,
intakes may initially be higher than
published, but will typically level out
after 7-10 days
