Le8er from the Execu ve Director Nov 2014 | page 3 Hello everybody, It’s hard to believe we’re already half-way through autumn! This last month has been a very busy and exci"ng "me for us! On Friday Oct 3rd, volunteers from DeloiGe came to our centre to help us with our annual cleaning day. They did a tremendous job, cleaning and organizing in many hard to reach places. Not bad "ming, as our annual Holly Bazaar is already fast approaching on Sat, Dec 6th, and we have begun to accept dona"ons. This is our largest annual fundraiser and usually brings in more than $7000.00. All of the proceeds go towards suppor"ng programs and ac"vi"es at the centre, as well as maintain fees at a price that is affordable for everyone. Please help us out by bringing in dona"ons of collectables, books, jewellery, kitchen goods, and other quality household items. Our bazaar is well-known for carrying a large range of fantas"c finds. This year making extra funds is more important than ever, so please bring your friends and family o help us distribute posters around the community. Together we will make this the best bazaar yet! Our Thanksgiving luncheon had a great turnout as all who aGended shared delicious turkey, dressing, cranberries, as well as mashed potatoes and veggies. The South Granville Seniors Centre Singing Group entertained with their lovely melodies. Our High Tea in Hong Kong was also a huge success with an elegant display of decora"ons and delicious food! Don’t forget to sign up for Oct/Nov/Dec Birthday Tea, which will take place on Nov 28th. It will be a great opportunity to celebrate the lives of our members born in the Winter months. Recap from High Tea 2014 On a rainy Friday afternoon on Oct 17, many lovely ladies and gallant gentlemen donned their most beautiful and interesting hats to attend the High Tea in Hong Kong. The hall was decorated in red and gold and guests enjoyed a delicious spread of ham & cheese croissants, tuna salad sandwiches, strawberry & cream cheese rolls, egg rolls, lemon tarts and more with a selection of steaming hot teas. After an entertaining hat parade and competition, the winners were presented with chocolates and wine. Overall, it was a fun event. We would like to send a special thank you to our friends in the community Daniel Le Chocolat Belge, Granville Liquor Store for providing the "Best Hat" prizes and especially to Save on Foods (Cambie and 7th) who provided the wonderful food. Thank you to everyone who shared the afternoon with us and made this event possible. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped prep, bake, decorate, set-up, serve, clean, etc. We could not have done it without you all, and are always so grateful to have your help.
