Position Summary:
The full-time Marketing & Communications Manager will work closely with the entire staff to implement
strategic ways to improve branding, communication and awareness for Accion and its client base,
ultimately increasing the clients served and the accessibility of Accion’s services to the community.
Furthermore, this position is responsible for spreading awareness of Accion to prospective clients and
the surrounding San Diego area through innovative marketing efforts, while managing the execution of
Accion workshops and other community business events. This individual will also manage volunteer
support and a marketing intern, while assisting with the on-boarding process of new Accion team
members to integrate them into the brand, culture and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities:
 Develop strategy for innovative and fresh marketing initiatives for the expansion efforts of Accion
and to increase organizational awareness and clients served
 Ensure consistent brand guidelines and messaging in all of Accion’s communication materials
 Manage Accion’s communications channels and write content for the website, email marketing,
social media, marketing collateral (newsletters, annual report, flyers etc.)
 Coordinate, plan, and execute event logistics for Accion hosted events
 Write press releases and conduct public relations efforts PR Firm for the organization
 Coordinate Accion Network marketing and communications initiatives locally
 Supervise interns to help with communications efforts and manage volunteer involvement for
event/outreach support
 Manage the Kiva loan program through marketing in conjunction with the Chief Credit Officer
 Develop tracking mechanisms to evaluate communications and marketing efforts
 Develop and maintain an on-boarding strategy for new employees to integrate into the brand,
culture and mission of the organization
 Assist the management team in on-boarding/training new employees to integrate them into the
brand, culture and mission of Accion San Diego’s office
 Work directly with the Business Development Officer on strategic marketing plans

Support the CEO, Chief Credit Officer and Business Development Officer with special projects and
initiatives.
Recommended Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
 Bachelor’s degree
 2-4 years experience in a business or nonprofit environment (marketing) or related educational
experience
 Experience or education in marketing, public relations, and/or branding
 Exceptional and demonstrated communication skills, written and verbal
 Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness needed
 Event coordination and execution required (for events as large as 150)
 Basic proficiency in Adobe Design Suite (Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator)
 Demonstrated knowledge on social media platforms, specifically Facebook and Twitter
 Effective leadership and team building skills required
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Able to effectively complete multiple tasks, priorities, deadlines and responsibilities
 Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff, volunteers and clients in a culturally
diverse environment
 Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative
 Various language skills a plus
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger,
handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; and reach with
hands and arms.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
