Cicero Chamber October Luncheon at Brick House Cafe 3 From the Chamber President It has been almost two years since I took the position as President of the Greater Cicero Chamber of Commerce. I wanted to get a few things accomplished. First, I wanted John to get the membership count up. We have done that. By Annable countless hours of tilling the soil, we went to our members Annab and past members to get them excited about the chamber and Karate John’s it’s direction. Second, I wanted the chamber to be on the same page with all the local community groups, the town, fire department, police, and the Canteen to name a few. We have done that. And third, get a direction as where the chamber can Help "community meet commerce." Here are a few possibilities for the future as I see it for the Greater Cicero Chamber of Commerce... I would like more people involved. We need to have break off committees to help specific networking opportunities. Committees might include a welcome committee, concerts in the park, golf outings, networking groups and others as needed. Most people don't realize that this is a volunteer organization. Having open board meetings, at different times, may help people see how they can get involved and share ideas. I would like Cicero and North Syracuse (Plank Road) Chambers to support each other and/or eventually merge. It has been 30 years since the school systems merged, why not the business community? Our chamber headquarters are a stones throw away from each other. Business owners would only need to belong to a single organization that encompasses the greater community. We could share resources, increase our advertising and networking opportunities and be more involved in our whole community. Elections for the board of directors are in November. I would like to see a good turn out by chamber members to help support this organization. An open mind and a plan is someplace to start.
