Councillor’s Message
Last week, Councillor’s Harder and
Councillor’s Chiarelli announced a $1.5
million community campaign for the
Queensway Carleton Hospital. I fully
support this initiative and will be
working closely with both of my
colleagues to make this campaign a
success. We are challenging Nepean
residents to donate $30 per household
to help pay for a new unit that officials
say will put Queensway Carleton
Hospital at the forefront of acute
seniors care in the province. The 34-bed
unit, with mostly single rooms, will be
secure and include staff of therapists,
The Main Library, as pictured above, is set to
social workers, geriatricians and
be relocated and Councillor Egli is seeking
pharmacists. This new facility will cater
recommendations for its new location
to patients who are 65 and older and is
expected to begin accepting patients in
for a new location to house this important asset to
2016. To donate, please visit the
our city. If you have some good ideas, please email

I would like to thank the organizers of
the Nepean Seniors Open House that
was held at the Nepean Sportsplex last
Thursday. My staff attended the event
on my behalf and have stated that it was
a great success once again this year.
Charing Park, in the Craig Henry community, is in
need of an individual or a group of volunteers to
operate the Charing Park Ice Rink in order for this
rink to open this winter. If you are interested,
please contact Dinos Dafniotis at (613) 316-8534.
Until next week,
I am requesting residents of Ward 9 to Keith
voice their opinion about a possible new
location for the central library. The main
branch is the largest and busiest library
in Ottawa and we are currently looking
