
Had hundreds of attendees at our annual PTA Safety Fair with fun exhibits for all.
Celebrated a record-breaking 73 students who participated in the national PTA Reflections
program by displaying works around the theme, ‘The world would be a better place if…’

Introduced a new kelly green hoodie as a fresh look to our uniform line-up.
I’d like send a shout-out to the 29 dedicated members of our PTA Board who work tirelessly to bring
programs, services and educational enrichment activities to our student body. This group coupled with
nearly 200 volunteers and others work along with our faculty and students each and every day to ‘fill
the buckets’ of students, whether in campus-wide events, such as Field Day (coming up on 11/21) or a
more personal touch, like tutoring. I’m proud to be a part of something truly special at Bevis!
Looking ahead you won’t want to miss Family Movie Night on 11/14 featuring ever-popular movie - The
Polar Express, spirit night at Tokyo Steakhouse on 11/19 and our Tri-School Winter Concert on 12/2 in
Park Square. Our heartfelt appreciation are extended to our military families as we pause to recognize
their service during this upcoming Veteran’s Day. As always, stay tuned to www.bevispta.com for the
most current Bevis PTA happenings!

Celebrate Healthy Habits with National PTA! It's important to educate children on how they can practice
healthy habits inside and outside the classroom. Healthy habits, such as good hygiene, nutrition and
fitness, help benefit students with fewer school days missed and stronger bodies/minds. The National
PTA and NEA (National Education Association) support the development of the Lysol Healthy Habits
Program to bring these habits to life and help reduce absenteeism in schools across the country.
Teachers and parents can participate in the cause by taking advantage of
available resources on Lysol.com/HealthyHabits.

Thank you to the volunteers who helped this month with the following events:
· PTA Safety Fair · Lunch Bunch · Picture Day · Book Fair · Staff Appreciation Conference Night
Dinner · Box Tops · Classroom Activities · Field Trips
Upcoming volunteer opportunities include Field Day and the Running Club. Please look for the sign
-up in your email soon.
New volunteers are always welcome! If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the
blue volunteer form and the white SERVE form and return to the front office or sign up on our
Bevis PTA web site at www.bevispta.com. Volunteers have to fill out a SERVE form annually.
When you arrive at Bevis to volunteer, please log into the computer in the front office using your
driver's license then enter an estimated number of hours you will be volunteering. You will then be
given a green sticker to wear that alerts faculty and staff that you are allowed on campus. When
you leave, please log out and change the time to accurately reflect the hours you have
volunteered. Enter any time spent on Bevis-related projects, such as field trip chaperone or class
projects done from home. Logging in your hours helps us to track total volunteer hours, recognize
your hard work, attain certain County awards and maintain Bevis’ status as a 5 star school.
October Volunteers of the Month
We spotlight two fantastic volunteers for the month of October. These volunteers dedicate many
hours to our school and are dependable, communicate effectively and are outstanding in their
assistance to Bevis students and teachers.
Julie Barone
This month we are proud to recognize Julie Barone as one of October's Volunteers of the Month.
Julie volunteers in the Media Center and Lunch Bunch. She manages the PTA lost and found, cochairs the Bevis Relay for Life team and serves as Mrs. Weber’s Homeroom Parent. Julie is always
available to help with a smile on her face. We appreciate you Julie! Our second amazing Volunteer
of the Month is Carrie Skaggs. Carrie is a homeroom parent for Mrs. Kahn's class where you will
see her share her many creative talents with the class, one being the Art Enrichment Day once a
month. Carrie also helps in Mrs. Gammon's class as needed. She volunteers for Lunch Bunch,
makes goodies for the Staff Appreciation Committee and chaperones classroom field trips. We are

PTA Reflections Betters the World
“The World Would be a Better Place If….”
Year-after-year our Broncos show us their talents in amazing and creative ways. Seventy-three Bevis students and
their families celebrated the national PTA Reflections program on October 24 with a recognition reception for all
participants in the multi-purpose room. The theme this year was ‘The World Would be a Better Place if...’ and wow, did
our Bevis Broncos shine with their creative artwork!
Each student received a certificate and a goody bag, including a PTA Reflections backpack tag and a certificate for a
Wendy’s Frosty. We had over 103 entries among our 73 students in four categories: Visual Arts, Photography, Music
Composition and Literature.
What a way to celebrate this 45-year old national PTA program that inspires art in students. All judging was done
by local leaders known in the arts community and based on standardized criteria. A special thank you to our
PTA Reflections Chair—Millie Shikes, our VP of Service and Activities—Sara Huffman and to our judges:
 Betty Narrow – 30 years mixed art experience and studied art at Auburn (visual arts and photography judge)
 Julie Wallace – Private Music Instructor (music composition judge)
 Leda Eaton – Talon Editor (literature judge)

PTA Safety Fair—A SAFE Adventure
The Bevis PTA Safety Fair was a huge success! Hundreds of families
showed up to enjoy the beautiful weather on October 10 and
learned practical health and safety tips for their families. It was fun
for everyone... with over 30 interactive booths, a DJ, plenty of cool
treats, and photos with the Lightning mascot, ThunderBug. The raffle
was a hit with fabulous prizes and many appreciative
winners. Visit www.bevispta.com or www.facebook/bevispta.com for
a list of our vendors. Overall, a great evening at Bevis! Thank you to
all who joined our team as vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and
attendees. A special thanks to Andrea Cammarata, Nancy Caliguire
