WOODSY OWL NEWS Sierra Hills School NOVEMBER 10, 2014 Please remember there is no school on November 10th and 11th to honor our Veterans Principal’s Message: Dear Sierra Hills Families, Thank you for coming to our book fair and family night. It shows so much support for your children and their school. I personally enjoyed the cookies, coloring, great selection of books, and time with our parents and students. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers! This is the last week of the first trimester. Parent conferences are occurring over these next few weeks and I want to remind all parents and guardians about the importance of these conferences. The information the teachers provide at the conferences is valuable so please be sure to attend at your designated time. Feel free to come with a few questions written down, but remember that teachers have to stick to their conference schedule in order to meet with everyone. As always, thanks for your support and assistance. Parents please remember as the mornings get darker and chillier it is still vital that students be at their classroom doors by 8:13. We start instruction right away and students who are even a few minutes late miss important information and the efforts to catch them up can result in disjointed learning for all students. Play yards and the library are open by 7:45 in the morning with supervision. We’ll see you all bright, early, and ready for a great day of school! Jordan Alvarado BUS PASS UPDATING TIME: If you purchased a bus pass for only the first trimester, the pass needs to be updated for the second trimester. This means if your child’s bus pass has a “1” sticker, this pass must be updated in order to be valid for the second trimester. Starting Monday, November 3rd bus drivers will be collecting all bus passes that have a #1 sticker on them, indicating 1st trimester. Once they have received payment for the 2nd trimester, (and or 2nd and 3rd trimester), the appropriate sticker will be attached to the bus pass and the bus pass will be returned to the student. Payment is due no later than Friday, November 14th. If payment is not received by Wednesday, November 19th your child will not be able to ride the bus. Please feel free to contact Business Services with any questions, at 530-878-2606. PICK UP BUTTER BRAIDS WEDNESDAY (11/12) AFTER SCHOOL! TK & Kindergarten only – Wednesday & Thursday, November 19 & 20 are minimum days (11:15 dismissal) for TK and Kindergarten only for parent conferences. There will be no afternoon bus transportation. Community Food Drive Our annual food drive runs through November 14. Please keep those cans coming in as all the food collected helps families in our own community. The Meadow Vista Friendly Neighbors will distribute the donations in December. Any packaged or boxed foods that you are able to contribute to the food drive will be appreciated. We do use the support of KCRA’s “Kids Can” food drive boxes and advertisements, but we emphasize that all of the food we collect stays in our community. Thank you for any contributions you are able to make. See flyer attached for a list of acceptable donations. PTC NEWS Butterbraids Fundraiser!
