Manipuri Students Federation
(MSF) advisor LC Romesh
today appealed to contractors
and work agencies not to claim
the tenders of road and bridge
construction works in rural and
hill areas under Manipur State
Rural Road Development
Agency (MSRRDA) by
reducing the tender amount.
Speaking to reporters, he
said that MSRRDA recently
issued tenders for construction of roads and bridges in
rural and hills areas.
With the completion of the
9th phase, MSRRDA issued
a notification for the 10th
phase with November 18 as
the last date, he said.
During the submission of
tenders, work agencies and
contractors have applied to
execute these works by cutting down 27 to 30 percent
from the total permitted
amount, he alleged.
As such, people are apprehensive that the works would
not be executed (Contd P 8)
However, when JCILPS
Women Wing members enquired about the incident,
Sekmai police station OC told
them that the number of the
non-locals, who were detained by JCILPS Kanglatongbi were only 51 and they
are labourers of Power Grid
Corporation of India Ltd hailing from West Bengal and
Bihar, Nganbi said.
The OC further told them
that the labourers got an official letter from the Manager
of the corporation, she said.
Nganbi said that when they
requested the OC to check
movement of non-locals on
the highway, the OC told
them that they do not get any
such order from the higher
authority.
She questioned whether
police should give free hand
to Power Grid Corporation
and various night super buses
to bring in large number of
non-locals in the State, which
is totally against the movement of JCILPS.
