The Ashford Place Chronicle
Happy Veterans Day!
“How important it
is for us to recognize
and celebrate our
heroes and she-roes!”
– Maya Angelou
Whether you are a veteran or the spouse of a
veteran, you have, in one
way or another, sacrificed
for the safety this nation. As you age, perhaps
you have considered how
you will finance long-term
nursing care and/or assisted living, should you
require these services. There
are certain benefits of which
you may be unaware, that can
assist with paying for such
care. After all, you deserve to be
taken care of as President Lincoln envisioned when he said “to
care for him who shall have borne
the battle, and for his widow....”

Aid and Attendance Pension
If you a wartime veteran, or the
surviving spouse of a wartime
veteran, with a medical condition
that requires the assistance of another person, or you need to receive
this care from a home health care
agency or in an assisted or independent living community, a nursing
home, or even from a family member, you may be eligible to receive
an increased monthly pension from
the Veterans Administration called
Aid and Attendance (A&A).
To qualify for A&A, the veteran
needs to have served at least 90 days
of active duty in the military, where
at least one day of this service
occurred during a wartime period,
regardless of whether or not the
veteran was engaged in combat.
It also needs to be established by
your physician that you require
daily assistance by others to
perform activities of daily living
(bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting,
adjusting prosthetic devices,
or protecting yourself from the
hazards of your daily environment).
A Veteran may be eligible for up to
$1,732 per month, while a surviving spouse may be eligible for up
to $1,113 per month. A Veteran
and spouse together may be eligible
for up to $2,054 per month, and a
Veteran with an ill spouse may be
eligible for up to $1,360 per month.
Life Settlement
Another little-known benefit that
may assist in paying for long-term
care is the Life Settlement benefit
(available to all senior citizens with
a life insurance policy), which is the
sale of one’s life insurance policy for
an agreed-upon sum of money, often
for an amount much greater than the
cash surrender value. It is not a loan,
and has no restrictions or requirements to be paid back. There are also
no interest fees, upfront fees, or liens
associated with a Life Settlement.
We encourage you to take a closer
look at all the programs and
benefits available to assist with
financing your long-term care/
assisted living needs, including
the information above. The Life
Settlement Fund Group is also
an excellent resource and can be
visited at www.lifecarefunding.com.

funding long-term care for
you or a loved one, please call

yours – happy Veteran’s Day!

Greetings!
The holiday
season is
a great time to think about our
blessings. As I sit here today, I
am overcome with joy. What
a privilege for me to work with
such compassionate caregiver’s
everyday. What an honor it is to
serve Ashford Place residents,
families, and this community. I am
proud to work for a company like
Trilogy Health Services. We have
so much to celebrate at Ashford
Place Health Campus. As we
think back on our blessings, we
also look forward to improvements
and growth for the year to come.
Our Trilogy Foundation will again
be providing seed money for our
campus to choose a local charity.
We will host fundraisers to give
back to the community that we
serve. We are so blessed, and I
want to thank each of you for the
opportunity to care for your loved
one. As always, I am here to serve.
Please continue to share your any
comments, suggestions, concerns
to assist us in our commitment to
compassionate care.
Did You Know???
We have many ways that we thank
our caregivers for their hard work
and dedication; one of the ways
is our STARS RECOGNITION
PROGRAM. This is a program
that allows staff to be recognized
for going above and beyond the call
of duty. Based on the information
we receive by hand written notes
or letters, staff are awarded a
certain number of stars. They can
utilize those stars to order items
from a catalog of merchandise. If
you would like a staff member to
be recognized in this way, please
let any member of the leadership
team know. I will make certain our
employees are recognized for their
good work. If you are unable to
come into the campus, just give me
a call or send an email to: jessica.
hundley@ashfordplacehc.com.
Should you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to speak to
any member of the leadership team.
At your Service,
Jessica Hundley

Theme Dinner - Autumn
The quarterly Theme Dinner will be centered around an Autumn Theme
and will be held November 6th. It will be held during the dinner hour.
Strawberry Fields
and Auntie Aimee's
Tea Room Trip
We took a trip to beautiful Hope, Indiana. While we were there we stopped to
have lunch at Auntie Aimee’s Tea Room.
They have the most adorable setting for
a quaint lunch. Their menu included all
sorts of fun teas to drink and finger sandwiches to enjoy. I had the most delicious
grilled cheese sandwich and side of soup.
They even serve an array of delicious desserts. Their prize dessert for the day was
their seasonal Persimmon Pudding.
Attached to the Tea Room is the Strawberry Fields Mercantile. There are so
many fun items to see and reminisce
about. Old steamer trunks, claw foot bath
tubs, iron beds, old tea cups and all kinds
of fun antiques to spark remarkable conversations of the good old days. The entire
place was so cozy and smelled of fresh
baked pies. It was almost like traveling up
into grandma’s attic for a look around.
I would highly recommend you take a
trip there if you have never been. We plan
to go back in November to see all of their
amazing Christmas displays.
Legacy Lane
Happy November Families! The residents had a Caribbean Themed Dinner
in September. They were all dolled up
with flower tops and lei's. The tables
were decorated with stuffed fish, crabs,
lobsters. We enjoyed ocean music with
our dinner. They seemed to enjoy Happy
Hour with live music, some even sang
along. Let the holiday season begin!
