LOOKING FOR A TRT OR RELIEF ECW?
CHECK YOUR STAFF REPORT on the HRS Maintaining
Licences and Training function to see if any of your staff
are in these numbers.
Use the function in the online Claims system. This shows
relief staff that are available and cleared to work. If they
have full time contracts, they won’t be on the list. It also
presents the opportunity to select someone with particular
subjects (ie Japanese teacher). There is a contact number
(usually a mobile number) and you are able to refine the
search to surrounding suburbs.
Renewal applications need to be sent to DCSI at least three
to six months before expiry especially at this time of year.
Direct all queries to Kay Gasiorowski on 8226 0430, or
email: DECD.HRConfidential@sa.gov.au

2015 to guarantee clearance to start work on 22 January
2015.

BONA FIDE CERTIFICATES AND MONTHLY LEAVE RETURNS
Reminder: It is a requirement of the SA Government that
all agencies regularly check their Bona Fide Certificates
and Monthly Leave Returns. To ensure this requirement
is adhered to by DECD, all sites are required to regularly
check their Bona Fide Certificates and Monthly Leave
Returns. It is important to remember that Site Assistants or
BFC/MLR Users are authorised to check reports, however
Certification is to be actioned by the Site Manager only,
e.g. Principal or Manager.
ONLINE PRACTICUM CLAIMS
The online practicum claims system has been used by over
240 sites to date resulting in a large number of teachers
being paid their daily supervision allowance. Thank you to
the leaders and admin staff who have used the system and
worked through the data entry processes required.
The practicum claims system is an enhancement of the
TRT Claims system. We are seeking feedback and ideas for
future improvements to the system which can be reviewed
to identify opportunities for system enhancements. This
feedback can also relate to the phone support and fact
sheets that have been created to support sites.
• A Reports and Invoicing fact sheet has been
added to the Practicum Claims webpage. NB the
information about invoicing for Term 3 placements.

• Interstate universities – the conditions of practicum
placements in DECD schools is the same for students
from interstate universities regarding the daily
allowance and the child safety screening and training
requirements. Please confirm this with the university
contact before accepting the placement (see form on
the webpage). Please contact Susan Miels 82262332 if
you require support with queries from interstate unis.
ON CALL ALLOWANCE FOR GSES, SSOS AND ECWS
An on-call allowance is paid to employees as compensation
for being rostered on-call after hours to remedy an
emergency situation. One employee per day can claim the
allowance for any particular site, and employees are not
to be rostered on-call when taking any form of leave. An
Application for On-Call Allowance (VL615) form must be
sent to the responsible HR Consultant for approval in the
first instance. Once approval is granted, the Principal can
then authorise the claim form (VL616) and forward directly
to Shared Services. Please ensure that approval is granted
before sending any claims, and that claims are submitted
as soon as possible after the work is undertaken. For
