PROCESS SEQUENCE for RE-PAINTING :
PRE-CLEANING : Complete REMOVAL of Oil & Grease, Surface Rust must be ensured. This can be carried by
Chemical cleaning , Solvent Cleaning, Sand Blasting, Sand papering, Grinding, Mechanical cleaning or any
other means. CORROSION, Rusting, Oxidation of Mild steel is a SUB SURFACE PHENOMENON. Hence TOTAL
Pre-cleaning becomes a most important pre-condition for getting OPTIMUM FINAL RESULTS.
MOST IMPORTANT : TOTAL Removal of Water , Residual cleaning of even traces of Acidic cleaners, and all foreign matters,
dust, dirt from the CLEANED surface must be ensured. These traces of impurities can cause HYDROGEN IMBRITTLEMENT in the
microscopic pores of the Metallic surface. These impurities promote SUB-SURFACE CORROSION, AFTER SOME DURATION.
Trapped Hydrogen ( known as Hydrogen Im-brittlement ) will try to escape to the atmosphere , will RUPTURE THE FINISHED
PAINT, however it may be thick and strong. The opened–up areas of Paint coating / Film on steel now provide NUCLEUS for
further rusting. USER WILL AVOID TAKING ANY SHORT-CUTS in the PRECLEANING PROCESS as it will result in Post
Painting Rusting. The speed of re-rusting will be directly dependant on Humidity, Moisture, Temperature & presence of
chemical fumes, flu-Gases, salinity in the atmosphere.
STEP : 1 : Surface Cleaning :
RUSTOGEL 1406 :
For total removal of RUST from Corroded Mild Steel Fabrications and Structural Steel. RUSTOGEL
1406 is a cleaner based on Phosphoric Acid, Solvents , Wetting Agents and Foaming agents. Phosphoric Acid in itself is a
RUST PREVENTIVE ACID. The product is offered in 30 Kgs Packing. This product is used as supplied, without any dilution
with water. Being in GEL FORMAT, the chemical is quite useful for DERUSTING and CLEANING And MAINTENANCE of all
heavy steel Fabrications in vertical and horizontal positions. RustoGel 1406 is very user Friendly, Easily water washable. The

operators MUST USE rubber gloves, Goggles, Hand-gloves , Face shield, and rubber aprons. Coverage : 10 -12 Meter per Kg.
In case of Spillage , wash with plenty of Running water.






Apply RUSTOGEL 1406 by BRUSHING ( any normal Paining Brush ) or by swabbing in a Cloth:
Allow the chemical to React with surface rust for a period of 10-15 Minutes. The rust will be loosened.
Wash the chemically treated surface by sprinkling water from a spray bottle or by swabbing.
Completely dry the surface to remove all traces of residual acids and all entrapped water from metal pores
Use Dry, moisture free compressed air ( 35 to 40 Bar Pressure) for removal of excess water and moisture.
Apply Zinc Rich Paint after complete drying and within 2 hrs
THREE IN ONE Chemical is an Alternate product for the above Pre-Cleaning Stage. Three I One Chemical

is also used by BRUSH SPRAY or SWAB at 50 % Conc ( in Water ) for Pre-Cleaning of Rusted Mild Steel Fabrications :
STEP : 2 : RUST CEONVERTER , PRIMER and Rust Preventive Coating Additional Pre-Painting Treatment :
RUSTOFIX 1411 :
A single Coat application of RUSTOFIX 1411 , A RUST CONVERTER, Rust Preventive and a
PRIMER in itself will offer ADDITIONAL CORROSION Protection. Rustfix 1411 is applied by BRUSH / Swabbing as supplied .
on a pre-cleaned Mild Steel Fabricated Structure , Machiner , Plant or Equipments, and mild rusted Mild Steel. It will convert the
adherent Iron Oxide Rust into a Complex, polymer film in 30 to 34 min. This will offer an excellent substiture for any Metallic
Primer , Zinc Rich Primers , Zinc Chrome , Zinc Phosphate / Silicate Primers and RED OXIDE Primer coatings. This application
will form a Bluish black Coating on the treated surface. This will air dry within 1 hrs. This coated metal can then be painted with
ANY SYNTHETIC,OIL Based or MODIFIED Paint. This coating will ENHANCE THE ANTI-CORROSION Properties by several
years. Application of RUSTOFIX 1411 is very strongly recommended for all Heavy Structural Steel Fabrications , PEBs , MBSS
and Factory fabrications. This is very good pre-treatment during annual Shut-Down and Repainting Work.
STEP : 3 : Surface Painting with 99% Purity ZINC RICH AD PAINTS : for highest Corrosion Protection :

Use the ZINKOTE – 20 Paint as Supplied from 20 Litre Cans.
Keep the Paint Can upside –Down for 20 to 30 min.
Open the Lid. Stir with an agitator / mechanical Blender for 2-3 Min.
This will disperse the heavy ZINC PARTICLES which settle to bottom due to their higher Specific Gravity.
ZINKOTE Paints are used by Conventional Spray or Brushing :
Use as supplied. In case you wish to adjust the Spray Viscosity, use Toluene or Xylene or NC Thinner . We offer
THINNER ZK for Dilution, As Solvent. Recommended as required . Used for Washing, Diluting Cleaning etc.

The SECOND COAT shall be applied after 24 Hrs from the 1 Coat,
The ZINKOTE 20 Paints are based on Instant Air Drying Modified Acrylics .
These paints will Air dry within 10-15 minutes time.
These paints are flammable. Hence do not spray / use near open flame , Sparking
Use NC thinner No:2 / Bhatti ( Stoving ) Thinner for Cleaning of Spray equipments.
Perform the Painting Work in ventilated areas.
Close the pain containers immediately after use.
ZINKOTE 20 contains VOLATILE PETROCHEMICAL SOLVENTs.
The paint will Evaporate and loose the solvent / Carrier if kept open to sky.
