Waterproofing is a process that is designed to prevent water from penetrating a structure. Typically waterproofing is done in various layers and stages to create multiple barriers so that water cannot penetrate the structure. A combination of such stages is referred to as creating a “Building Envelope”. However, often not enough importance is given to this very crucial area while constructing new structures. Over reliance on conventional and outdated systems, low awareness about modern waterproofing systems and lack of trained expertise for application are some of the reasons for the same. Fixit PURoofseal Injection Dr. Fixit SOLUTION FOR VOIDS IN CONCRETE Injection grouting for leaking and damp basements (PU injection grouting) Pagel ZL 10 Dr. Fixit Roofseal All honeycombs and voids caused due to lack of proper compaction of concrete shall be taken up for treatment with injecting ultra-fine cementitious injections Effective polyurethane injection grouting system for leaking and damp basement Concrete if not compacted well, develops honeycombs and weakens the structure Arrest any active water leakage in concrete and masonry walls. Treat honeycombs in concrete with cementitious injections. Low viscosity penetrating into the finest of cracks. Excellent bond to concrete after setting. Methodology In basements, where there is drip leakage with or without pressure, they must be treated with low viscosity, polyurethane resin injections. Leakage from masonry walls or concrete members in the roof, walls, bathroom ceilings, etc. must be treated with polyurethane injection. These injection system is the single-component system which reacts with water to form a foam or gel based on the amount of water encountered and bond extremely well to arrest leakage and dampness. Methodology Surface Preparation and Application 1. Inject all cracks and voids actively leaking water with low viscosity, single-component polyurethane injection. 2. The injection packers may be fixed into holes drilled directly into the crack or drilled diagonally from concrete adjacent to the crack. In case of curtain wall injection; long packers to be used to reach the void between waterproofing and structural member. 3. Conduct fixing of packers with water-based epoxy putty that can set and harden in the presence of water. 4. If the void that needs to be filled is wider; then recommend a 4:1 ratio Dr. Fixit PU Foam Injection: Water and if the void that need filling is too narrow then; 1:4 Dr. Fixit PU Foam Injection: Water is recommended. 5. Inject Dr. Fixit PU Foam Injection using injection packers fixed and 2-C pumps equipped with a flushing unit. SURFACE PREPARATION All areas marked as honeycombs and big voids will be filled and densified with this treatment. The appropriate injection equipment as advised by the Dr. Fixit technical team should be used to inject the Pagel ZL 10 ultra-fine injection, which is supplied in a dry powder form. Right amount of water must be added (i.e. 0.4 to 0.5 w/c ratio) that will make the ZL 10 mixture extremely fluid. Small Voids and Honeycombs Appropriate nozzles generally used for any cementitious injection will serve the purpose. The nozzles can be fixed directly over the voids. For Large Voids in Concrete 1. For large voids in concrete, remove the loose aggregates and cement laitance 2. Provide shuttering over these areas and fill them in with Pagel ZL 10 grout through the nozzles. 3. The grout will develop good strength and areas that are shuttered for injections, can be undone, preferably after 48 hours, to ensure that no site abuse can damage the surface of the newly filled honeycombs. 4. If needed, finish off the surface of the concrete with the repair mortar Pagel R 20 / 20, rapid cementitious repair mortar, to increase the protection of the area. 6. Dr. Fixit PU Foam Injection can be injected to damp voids without water, alone , to seal the leaks permanently. 7. Complete injecting into all the ports and allow the gel formation. 8. Over the next 1 or 2 days, the water leakage will get arrested and stop leaking through the cracks or voids. In certain cases if leakage still persist do the injection again to get best results. 9. This process is the same for all residential and public water-containing structures or even dams and aqueducts. 11 SOLUTION FOR STRENGTHENING CONCRETE MEMBERS SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO CONCRETE REPAIR Dr. Fixit Epoxy Injection Dr. Fixit Roofseal CONCRETE REPAIR Dr. Fixit Roofseal Effective solution for cracks in structural members like concrete retaining wall Three pronged system for effective concrete repair Strengthens damaged concrete when injected. Can be injected even if water or moisture is present. Protect steel reinforcement bars with Dr. Fixit Epoxy Zinc Primer. Use Dr. Fixit Epoxy Bonding agent for repair of RCC wall, underside of the slab. Apply Dr. Fixit Micro Concrete to the cut area. Methodology Methodology Surface Preparation and Application SURFACE PREPARATION 1. Mark out the crack in the concrete member. 1. Mark out the area to be taken up for concrete repair and mechanically cut to a depth into the concrete well behind the re-bars so that the micro-concrete can be placed effectively over a treatment with the suitable bonding agent. 2. Drill holes directly over the length of the crack using a drilling machine, at intervals of 6 to 9 inches along the length of the crack. 2. Coat the steel reinforcement bars with a single component Dr. Fixit Epoxy Zinc Primer as cathodic protection.. 3. In case of cracks up to 2 mm wide, fix the injection nozzles directly over the crack, using a drilling machine. APPLICATION 4. Affix a non-return type of injection ports / nozzles in these holes with fast-setting epoxy putty and let it dry for about 2 to 3 days. 1. Use Dr. Fixit Epoxy Bonding Agent for an area over 10 sq. ft. of concrete repair in the underside of slab or repair of the RCC wall. 5. Also, seal the crack between the ports with epoxy putty. 2. For other general repairs, use Dr. Fixit Pidicrete MPB, an acrylic bonding agent, by applying it neatly over a prewetted surface. 6. In cases where the crack is wider than 2 mm up to 4 to 5 mm, drill holes at the sides of the crack in a staggered fashion as shown in the picture, at intervals of 6 inches and affix them with epoxy putty as mentioned above. 3. After this dries, the cut area can be applied with Dr. Fixit Micro Concrete or Dr. Fixit Repair Mortar. 4. After the repair mortar sets, apply Dr. Fixit Raincoat (any choice of colour) as a waterproofing. 7. Also, seal the face of the crack with a liberal application of the epoxy putty. 8. It is advised (since epoxy putty hardens sufficiently in a period of 2 to 3 days) to take sufficient pressure off the injection hose and the pressure that may develop while injecting the epoxy grout resin. 9. Start pumping in Dr. Fixit Epoxy Injection after mixing it in a pail or a container, with an appropriate injection pump. 10. Pumping can stop once the pressure is felt and no more epoxy resin can be injected. 11. Allow the resin to set for at least 7 full days, while it will harden and cure the crack. 12. Over-painting or coating can be done on the concrete after the ports have been cut and removed, and the epoxy seal putty is ground off with a rotary scrubbing machine for surface preparation. 1 Rebar 2 Dr. Fixit EpoxyZinc Primer 3 Dr. Fixit EpoxyBonding Agent 4 Dr. Fixit Micro Concrete 5 Concrete Column 6 Dr. FixitRaincoat 1 2 3 4 5 6 13 15 Pidilite Industries Limited DISCLAIMER The product information & application details given by the company & its agents has been provided in good faith & meant to serve only as a general guideline during usage.
